To ask how much your summer 2023 holiday is costing?

I know things have changed since last year but wow. Even compromising the price is still wow. To the point I'd rather pay for exactly what I want than pay so much for the compromise.

I need to get some perspective I think on whats the going rate these days. I dont like to discuss money with family and friends so would rather ask here.

Would you share if you are having a holiday, what you are paying, family size, board and term time or not so I can work out if I am BU in my budget?

Once week in a two bedroom cottage in Scotland. £952 just for accommodation and it's just for DH and me.

7 nights summer holidays to Cyprus for a Family of 5 (two adults and three kids - well my eldest is 17 so I suppose it’s three adults really). Staying in a three bed Villa. So Villa+Flights+car with Jet2Villas

its cost £5100

similar amount to last year.

Same as the last few years for me (single parent) and my 2 kids…..4 or 5 nights camping under the stars in a rural spot, non-electric pitch, stunning scenery…. £100 approx.

Hiking by day, cooking on a fire pit and making hot chocs to drink star-gazing by night.

Kids can’t wait, and neither can I!

Sounds fantastic, can I come too please? I love camping out with just the tent, cooking over the fire, sitting outside in the dark wrapped up in my blanket looking at the sky and it's even better if there's a stream nearby - I love the sound of the water so much. I actually feel quite lucky that both me and DH enjoy camping so much, it's given us the opportunity to stay in some of the most beautiful parts of the country for a pittance.

I’m taking myself and three kids for a week in turkey at an AL early May. Costing £1998 this is with one child free place and £150 single parent discount. Nice hotel it’s 4 stars and looks amazing, I did book in June 2022 for May 2023 so likely saved loads doing that.

ItsTheEndOfTheWorld · 25/02/2023 23:42

@LaFemmeDamnee I think we're going to the same park! 4 nights camping at May half term, £260

SpringIsSpringing23 · 25/02/2023 23:46

£225 for 11 nights in a static caravan in Scotland in May.

ScaSca · 25/02/2023 23:46

Easter in Corfu, 5 star with upgraded room, half board, 1900 for 2 adults and child. Haven’t done a resort type of holiday in years but thought this was a good price.

Sgtmajormummy · 25/02/2023 23:50

We’re taking 17yo DD to Paris on Easyjet vouchers left over from COVID. So just hotel and spending money for 5 days. Plus DS/dog sitter €€.
DD is going away on school trips in May and September.

Three weeks to a month “working (for me) holiday (for the others)” based in our second house plus odd days when we feel like it. No extra charge.

We live in a seaside town with facilities to rent. €30-50 a day. We go morning, kids go afternoon.
Our town is also a cruise terminal. Planning on snapping up a Last Minute 4-day deal in June/July before DD turns 18 and pays full price. €700? per person + DD.
In September I’m planning a long weekend in Dublin as cheaply as possible. Just me.
So for the whole summer about €5,000 on top of usual living expenses.

We are about 11k for 3 adults (1 teen and us ) and 1 child. All inclusive for 2 weeks. We were about 15k last year by the time we added things like decent flights and private transfers, sea views.

Corcory · 26/02/2023 00:03

A week in Suffolk in a3 bedroom lodge for 4 people , just over £1000 for first week in July.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 26/02/2023 00:05

Single Mum to DS age 2. We won't be having a Summer Holiday as such but I'm looking forward to taking him to some theme parks around the UK and just out and about for days out when the weather gets warmer.

peachescariad · 26/02/2023 00:06

£3000 for villa in Split, Croatia for 6 of us end of May. Adult kids paying for their own flights £800 each. Mum and dad paying for villa, car hire and probably everything thing else!

IreallyLikeCrisps · 26/02/2023 00:10

@QuizzlyBears

  1. I just like to over estimate!

  2. My kids eat a lot. I don't but I like cocktails and that adds up.

  3. my kids are all teens, eldest is 19. They're possibly too old for a lot of Disney and the novelty factor might wear off quickly. So we will probably end up hiring a car (which seems really expensive at the moment) and paying for other places to go maybe Busch Gardens, discovery cove, Kennedy space centre, helicopter flight and/or a trip to Clearwater. I'm not really sure so leaving all options open!

Spanglybangles · 26/02/2023 00:12

Family of 4. 8 nights in BC Canada during Easter hols. Will be travelling the province so various hotels. Looking at £3.5k for flights, b&b in hotels and car hire. Then rest of meals and whatever spends on top.

FuckeNell · 26/02/2023 00:16

3 adults 2 bed apartment in Ibiza end of July I think around 3k for one week. food etc I expect about 2k (sunbeds alone €30 per day!

YourUserNameMustBeAtLeast3Characters · 26/02/2023 00:17

Holiday cottage England, sleeps 4, £1,000 (Easter though not high summer). We went there last Easter too and it’s pretty much the same price I think. But I booked early, maybe September, to get in quick when I saw the price hadn’t gone up yet (we’re normally disorganised people and book quite late). It’s only a 2 hour drive from us so not too heavy on the petrol either.

Justwingingit2005 · 26/02/2023 00:19

2 week cruise term time 10k.
School hols was 15k so will stump up the fine.

SoShallINever · 26/02/2023 00:22

Summer holidays, 14 nights, all inclusive, 2 adults and one child - £4K.

Also going 10 nights in October - part half term, part term time, all inclusive, 2 adults and one child - £3.5K

May I ask where to and who you booked with, pls?

wejammin · 26/02/2023 00:24

14 nights camping in Cornwall in August, lovely site with a pool, £830. In 2020 it was £520 and in 2018 it was £450.

Fuel and food on top of that for 2 weeks usually comes in at around £1400 (2 adults 3 children and I estimate £100 per day which evens out over the fortnight), plus activities which tend to be minimal if it's sunny and we're at the beach, and extortionate if it's raining and we need a day somewhere indoors.

Happyhappyday · 26/02/2023 00:29

Last summer we spent about £8k to fly back to UK from North America for 3 weeks (west coast), that was premium economy flights, 10 days in a decent sized Airbnb in London, some meals out, some train tickets and 4 nights all inclusive in a posh country house hotel for 2 adults and a 3yo.

Happyhappyday · 26/02/2023 00:30

This summer staying in family holiday home at Whistler for a week, will probably spend about $500 if we eat out a fair bit.
