My OH has been away for a week and came back today. He turned up this evening with a Chinese takeaway for himself. Didn't even say he was getting one or asked if I wanted one. I've worked all week and done all childcare, which is fine, but when I said "well that's a bit shitty, I'm knackered and hungry too" his response was "well cook something then". I'm raging but he's acting like I'm being crazy.

This reminds me of the time I was 8 months pregnant with twins and my husband went to the chip shop for my birthday and came back with cod and chips to share because the portions "were huge"

Fuming

Ltb

Perfectly reasonable 😂

Chappy takeaways though. I mean Chinese takeaway is life.

@Mammyloveswine it's the actual rage ain't it. Honestly I don't think I've ever been this angry at him. I love Chinese takeaway, he knows this, so what you went in there ordered what you wanted and didn't even think about me and then i have the audacity to be annoyed "cook something then". Honestly I was close to throwing anything within arms length at him. And then he's like "you had a bad day at work or something". Rage.

Absolute fucking selfish bastard!! Especially as he's been on his fucking jollies!!

I'm honestly fuming for you OP, thoughtless arsehole!!!

my feelings exactly

SwordToFlamethrower · 24/02/2023 22:09

He wants you to dump him. Classic technique of treating your spouse like crap so you'll get fed up of him. He is a coward, he doesn't love you but won't leave unless you make him and he can play the victim.

Gworlie · 24/02/2023 21:56

You guys are awesome!! And saved me an evening of thinking maybe it's perfectly reasonable to get yourself dinner without even asking your partner. It really didn't need to be a massive argument but him acting like I'm being completely irrational has pissed me right off.

@Namechangetobeanon I'm going to do just that tomorrow night. The catering for ourselves is perfect. Passive aggressive and petty but I need to prove my point without losing the plot completely.

Please let us know what how he reacts 😊

WentForAWalk · 24/02/2023 22:11

Don't even sound like he likes you very much! What an arse.

I'd be FUMING.

Why don't people grow up and also stop wasting all their money on crappy takeaways.

Every thread about takeaways you like to announce how awful they are, why would people spend money on them, awful and unhealthy blah blah blah

then today you’re on another thread saying Oh Mumsnet spends its life telling people not to be judgemental etc and be kind etc yet when it comes to people who have takeaways you can’t help yourself being a judgy fucker can you 🧐 funny that

Gworlie · 24/02/2023 22:14

I wish it weren't real. Unfortunately, this is my Friday evening. I made myself dinner as per a comment previously. I so wanted to order Chinese but it would've been angry eating and its not worth it.

Appallingly selfish. Can you imagine doing the same? I’m assuming the answer is no & if I’m right then you should seriously consider your relationship.

LadyOfTheFliessssss · 24/02/2023 22:01

🙄

You sound about as fun as a funeral

You can still have fun without resorting to wasting money on takeaways and then trying to get into a tit for f tat argument with your husband and going out for another one. Mature much.

namechangeagaintoday · 24/02/2023 22:15

He wouldn't be my husband much longer!

I don't understand why anyone would do this!

Talk about missing the point of the thread ! It's about a mile that way -----> @girlfriend44

namechangeagaintoday · 24/02/2023 22:17

Um why do you do his laundry?

I work full time in an I incredibly demanding job. My DH is a stay at home dad. He does the kids washing but not mine!

The time to order (a single portion of) takeaway just for you is tomorrow night, surely? 😇

(I know two wrongs don't make a right, but it would be oh so very tempting...)

soggydigestives · 24/02/2023 22:18

Tomorrow night order yourself a pizza and tell him to make his own dinner when he complains!

Gworlie · 24/02/2023 22:18

@girlfriend44 you don't understand my love for takeaways. Or why I'm annoyed. Which is fine. Vote that I'm being unreasonable and move on.

HungryandIknowit · 24/02/2023 22:19

I can't believe someone would be that selfish and rude when called out on it. Drop it into conversation (when he's there) with everyone you know for the next month

macbooks · 24/02/2023 22:20

OP, what did you have for dinner today instead?

I say order takeaway tomorrow for you and your son only

Why are you so concerned about what the rest of us spend our money on? It doesn’t impact you in any way that I can see.

Some people like takeaways, if you don’t, nobody is trying to make you buy them. What’s the issue, exactly?

ScottBakula · 24/02/2023 22:21

Sorry my quote was for @girlfriend44 not @LadyOfTheFliessssss

Gworlie · 24/02/2023 22:22

@namechangeagaintoday I honestly don't mind doing his washing. It's easy enough for me put it in with the rest and because he works more hours that's what we've decided works for us. His suitcase will be staying by the washing machine though.

OP posts:
momtoboys · 24/02/2023 22:23

What an arse. So inconsiderate. You go out and get yourself something tomorrow and don't get him anything. See how he likes it then.

Codlingmoths · 24/02/2023 22:24

I’d rather repeatedly stab myself with a rusty fork than unpack his suitcase or do a single piece of his washing. (I have never unpacked my dhs suitcase, he’s an adult). And I would absolutely be cooking dinner for one, and taking myself out the next night. That’s a shitty way to behave from him.
