Inappropriate gift sent to child.

Good morning. I am an idiot.

I have a godson whose mother is lovely but very religious and a bit uptight. It’s his 9th birthday today. Long story short I placed an Amazon order to be delivered to their house, and he’s just opened it and it turns out that alongside the nice gifts I sent him, I accidentally included something else that was in my basket….

His dad (my friend) has just rung me howling with laughter, but the wife is apparently not at all amused.

I know AIBU but this is a public service announcement to double check your basket when you’re sending things to someone else.

Jesus.

I don’t think it contained chocolate. The ones I’ve seen on Amazon were just the wrappers.

There wasn’t any chocolate in it, you just buy the wrapper and put it round a big bar of choc. I’m considering giving these out instead of birthday cards in future!

@EyesOnThePies in hindsight I should’ve just denied all knowledge… her husband would probably sprag on me though 😂

I think she’s pretty rude though. You went to the trouble of getting her son a present, made a genuine mistake and she seems very high handed. I wouldn’t be apologising at all.
