This is so confusing… size 16 is a standard size, and available everywhere

IncessantNameChanger · 23/02/2023 21:25

Even Primark goes up to size 22 now

I'm a size 16 at 17 stone! Taller though

How?!

Im 5ft 8, 14 stone and as size 18!

My mum is 5'9 and a size 10 at 12 stone.

At my largest I was 23 stone and still sit into size 24 with no elastic waistbands.

People carry their weight differently.

At my smallest size as an adult at size 14 I was 16 stone.

That is why it is ultimately useless to ask people how much they weigh!

You’re joking right??! Even Primarni do bigger sizes now. I’m a size 24 and even though I prefer to shop online (I hate trying clothes on in shops) I can still go into Marks and Sparks, Primark even the clothing parts of supermarkets and find something to wear.

I'm 5'8 and everything suddenly seems short. I bought some standard length jeans the other day and they were at my calf. I have to buy tall now, which I've never had to in the past.

I think the shops are messing with us.

Dd is very tall with very long legs and arms

She shops in the childrens section for the longer lengths.

I’m a size 8 but I’m not skinny.

Last time I was in M&S there were lots of bigger sizes - I struggled to find the smaller ones.

The very cheap shops are probably aimed at teenagers who are likely to be in the smaller sizes?

This! I always find smaller sizes like an 8 or a 10 are out of stock in shops and only bigger sizes left meaning I can’t buy what I want. Or I’ll see a lot of lovely clothes in the curve or petite ranges online that are nowhere to be seen in the usual ranges. Not saying it doesn’t happen, just saying it happens in other areas too! :)

In 1967 I was 22. My parents went on holiday and left me money.😳. I bought some lovely dresses from M&S Children's department. I'm now a hefty 22. The shops where I live do big sizes.
