To think this is inappropriate

Just got into work and another colleague (another female so not a man trying to come on to me) has left flowers and chocolates on my desk with a card. Aibu to think this is inappropriate? Apparently she’s got them me “for Valentine’s Day”.

Gonna need more to this

TaraMock · 14/02/2023 08:59

Sounds like a nice thing to do to me. Why do you think it's inappropriate? Did she do it only for you?

ouch321 · 14/02/2023 08:59

I can only assume you're joking with your horror as that would be such a lovely gesture from a colleague.

I think its nice and she was being kind.
Why would you think it is inappropriate?

Ceryneianhind · 14/02/2023 09:00

what does the card say?

Emmamoo89 · 14/02/2023 09:00

Not really. I wouldn't say no to chocolates

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 14/02/2023 09:00

I think it's quite nice someone thought of you, but if you want to be offended go ahead. I doubt anyone will bother next year so look forward to that...

Beamur · 14/02/2023 09:01

Are you offended because a woman has given you a valentine's card?

Shemovesshemoves21 · 14/02/2023 09:01

Did she give the same to your other work colleagues?

dayswithaY · 14/02/2023 09:01

Seems like a nice gesture, but obviously context is everything and we don’t have much here.

Wilkolampshade · 14/02/2023 09:02

Not really OP. My DD's might give/receive flowers or a card to female friends especially if they knew friends had been having a tough time.

Daffyaboutdaffs · 14/02/2023 09:02

Wasn’t there a thread yesterday from someone asking whether it would be appropriate to buy a female colleague a gift for Valentines as she has been having a hard time? MN consensus seemed to be that it was a nice thing 😀

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 14/02/2023 09:02

Yeah I think she's an absolute cunt for giving you some flowers and chocolates. How dare she do something nice for you. The fucking cheek of it!

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 14/02/2023 09:03

My dad used to get me a Valentine's card every year until he died and lots of people said it was inappropriate. It wasn't

Figmentof · 14/02/2023 09:03

I would think it weird, inappropriate and a bit patronising. Strange I read a thread yesterday about somebody thinking of doing just this to her colleague, I wonder if it is the same situation.

Stressedmummyallday · 14/02/2023 09:03

She’s only given them to me. No one else.

BlueAgaveDreams · 14/02/2023 09:03

Does the card say "Get your tits out" ?
If not I'm struggling to see the problem

Yes I read the other post.

This sounds like a poor attempt at trolling.

I have just mentioned that, I thought the consensus was that it was a nice thing to do but maybe not in Valentine’s Day.

MelaniesFlowers · 14/02/2023 09:04

What’s to be offended about? It’s a nice gesture.

MrWhippersnapper · 14/02/2023 09:05

If this is real then she’s being nice and you’re a twat

user567543 · 14/02/2023 09:05

Bloody hell, amazed such a nice gesture has been misunderstood. Is she a creepy stalker? My dd chose my flowers and made me a card, valentines has expanded to include friendship and being kind, not unusual for kids to send each other cards.
