Dog people who use the B word

DonnaBanana · 11/02/2023 11:21

I’m not into dogs myself but I often come across people who are and especially amongst the more breeder-y/training/“Dog life” people they seem to take pride in using the B word (that rhymes with pitch) as much as possible and it turns my stomach.

I know that female dogs are technically called that but they seem to endlessly use the word even in contexts where it’s not relevant to mention the sex of the dog. For example “oh yes I was training my B the other day and my B made a mistake so I didn’t give my B a treat” And I’m like please just stop, call it a dog or by its name. You are just trying to be offensive.

It’s such a shame such a horrible word is used for two reasons but AIBU.

@RainyDaysareCarp

'my cock was up at dawn this morning' 🤣 thankyou for this 🤣

neurospicygal · 12/02/2023 00:23

@WomanStanleyWoman2
'I’d prefer if you referred to it as the A word that rhymes with “farceholes”, thank you very much.' My male dog with a penis is getting fed up with me screaming at this 🤣

BurtonsRevenge · 12/02/2023 00:25

Bitch, please.

Gremlins101 · 12/02/2023 02:20

DopeGirl · 11/02/2023 11:40

I agree OP.

Your average dog owner says ‘my dog was barking all night’ or if you know them well ‘Cassie was barking all night’

These dog type people ‘my bitch was barking all night. She’s a fussy bitch, not like her brother who is calm. I’ve had this bitch 3 years blah blah blah bitch blah bitch bitch bitch’

There is a weird sort of glee to it too. Like you can’t say anything because it is factual terminology. But realistically it’s not normal terminology you hear on everyday conversation and the word is more used in a derogatory fashion than in a factually correct way. They know when you hear it you’re more likely to associate it in the derogatory context of the word. They are always a certain type of dog obsessed person too.

Obviously others on mumsnet don’t get where you’re coming from and that’s fine. But I get what you mean. I’ve met them.

I think these "certain types" use the word because they are dog enthusiasts and that is the terminology they use. Not because they are living out some sordid fetish for the word bitch. I think you and OP are projecting.

BigglyBee · 11/02/2023 13:36

Yes, it's a derogatory name, but only because that term compares women to female dogs. I'm all for women not being called derogatory names, but that doesn't mean that the original term shouldn't be used correctly.

Also (and this is in no way relevant but I just want to share!) this thread has reminded me of a duck we once had (hatched in our incubator). My son was allowed to name it and he insisted it should be called Vagina. (He was 6). When Vagina grew a curly tail feather (indicating "she" was actually a drake), the name was changed. To England. No, I don't know why.

🤣🤣🤣

Moobae · 12/02/2023 03:04

Dog person here and I don’t use it, it is weird why not just say female

MrsMikeDrop · 12/02/2023 10:12

vivainsomnia · 11/02/2023 11:26

I thought the B word was Baby!

🤣🤣🤣 this is much worse!

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 11/02/2023 12:59

I just read that thread! There seems to be a number of threads started lately with only the opening post and nothing else from the OP.

What do you want me to say I still don’t like the word. I think it’s like calling your child a “bar steward” if they were born out of wedlock. It is just not needed in normal conversation

Not the same.

OhClunge · 12/02/2023 10:36

This thread just keeps on giving Grin

TaraMock · 12/02/2023 10:42

Bar steward 😂🤣 took me way longer than it should have....
Bastardy Bastard - there you go OP 😜

Anyway, like PP says, it's not the same in the slightest. Bitch is a correct term, Bastard is an old-fashioned slur & is not acceptable these days.

Moobae · 12/02/2023 03:04

Because my dog is a bitch.

She's also a bastard.

Well to at least reply back, unless you didn't get the response you were hoping for 😂 Also not the same thing.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 12/02/2023 12:29

I recall my then 8 YO DD's display of distaste at the insulting work given to her at school. She is autistic and was wrongly assumed to be academically less able by her new teacher.

Given an alphabet to illustrate, and amongst other, er,
unusual choices she drew a very girly canine (long eyelashes, ribbons) for 'B' with the word "BITCH!" written in big black capital letters. They could hardly argue.

She didn't like that teacher much.

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 12/02/2023 12:32

🤣😂

Oh, you mean bastard? I have never in my life met anyone who has described their own child as a bastard (or a bar steward Hmm)

ThisWOMANWontWheesht · 12/02/2023 12:36

Bastard is an old-fashioned slur & is not acceptable these days.

Bastard wasn't a slur for most of its history, though, just a description. It only became offensive later, like so many other words that later became unusable.

Ok so now I KNOW you are taking the piss.

slashlover · 12/02/2023 14:58

OP just has a thing about dogs in general www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4660643-to-think-people-wouldnt-like-dogs-if-they-could-talk

Butchyrestingface · 12/02/2023 15:13

@DonnaBanana At first I thought you were bonkers, but fair's fair, having pondered the issue a bit more, I can kind of see where you're coming from Grin.

Of course, you are being VERY prissy in refusing to even say the word in your OP. On that point, PPs are correct.

I think the solution is to stop fraternising with breeder types.

RosaDeInvierno · 12/02/2023 15:19

lordStrange · 11/02/2023 12:14

What's actually wrong with that though? I call my cat a girl, so does the vet. If I had a girl dog I would call her a dog. Also why is everyone so fucking sneery on here? The op mentions something they don't like they say they couldn't leave their house because of it ffs

lady cat is a queen (obvious if you have cats)
If your female cat has been spayed, she is referred to as a molly for her entire life. However, if your female cat reaches sexual maturity and begins her heat cycle, she can then be referred to as a queen. If you have a female cat who is pregnant or nursing, she is also considered a queen

I'm not sure why a word upsets you so much OP

JudgeJ · 12/02/2023 15:40

Mariposista · 11/02/2023 20:54

This is literally the only scenario where using the bitch is actually acceptable. That is what a female dog is called. To use it against a human is rude.

Rude? So cunt, twat etc are OK but bitch isn't? Usual MN double standards, I don't think many people on here know the origins of those two words, they certainly don't always use them correctly.

It used to often be used on birth certificates where no father was indicated.

justasking111 · 12/02/2023 15:53

Guess my dogs a eunoch then

Chikapu · 12/02/2023 16:13

Bugger me OP, you're one of those people that refer to your vagina as a tuppence aren't you?

I live in a dog town so they come up a lot in my day to day.
