Dog people who use the B word

DonnaBanana · 11/02/2023 11:21

I’m not into dogs myself but I often come across people who are and especially amongst the more breeder-y/training/“Dog life” people they seem to take pride in using the B word (that rhymes with pitch) as much as possible and it turns my stomach.

I know that female dogs are technically called that but they seem to endlessly use the word even in contexts where it’s not relevant to mention the sex of the dog. For example “oh yes I was training my B the other day and my B made a mistake so I didn’t give my B a treat” And I’m like please just stop, call it a dog or by its name. You are just trying to be offensive.

It’s such a shame such a horrible word is used for two reasons but AIBU.

Who are the 12% who voted YANBU??

DotAndCarryOne2 · 11/02/2023 14:39

PriamFarrl · 11/02/2023 14:32

Don’t be a soft cunt, op.

This made coffee come out of my nose 💦

JudgeJ · 11/02/2023 14:39

MrWhippersnapper · 11/02/2023 11:25

You’re being ridiculous

Exactly, considering some of the words used quite merrily on this site, many of which I'd never before seen in writing and directed equally to men and women, the 'b' word, wonderfully twee.

afinishedkiss · 11/02/2023 14:42

Getting offended by dog owners calling their female dogs bitches is not something to be bitching about OP.

DotAndCarryOne2 · 11/02/2023 14:42

Shade17 · 11/02/2023 14:37

There's no swear filters on MN so you don't have to be twee about typing bitch.

I read this in my head as There's no swear filters on MN so you don't have to be twee about typing, bitch.

😂

Could you please all stop, there’s more coffee coming out of my nose than going down my throat !!

JudgeJ · 11/02/2023 14:43

DopeGirl · 11/02/2023 11:40

I agree OP.

Your average dog owner says ‘my dog was barking all night’ or if you know them well ‘Cassie was barking all night’

These dog type people ‘my bitch was barking all night. She’s a fussy bitch, not like her brother who is calm. I’ve had this bitch 3 years blah blah blah bitch blah bitch bitch bitch’

There is a weird sort of glee to it too. Like you can’t say anything because it is factual terminology. But realistically it’s not normal terminology you hear on everyday conversation and the word is more used in a derogatory fashion than in a factually correct way. They know when you hear it you’re more likely to associate it in the derogatory context of the word. They are always a certain type of dog obsessed person too.

Obviously others on mumsnet don’t get where you’re coming from and that’s fine. But I get what you mean. I’ve met them.

Considering all the other far worse, in my opinion, words used to describe people on this site I really can't find it offensive in any context!

DotAndCarryOne2 · 11/02/2023 14:44

Question. Is dogging the same as bitching ?!!!

I totally totally agree OP and, in addition, I am also very upset when I see uncovered piano legs and table legs in the drawing room.

It seems very misogynistic to me when people-often men-look at these legs. I can't help feeling that they are leeringly thinking of women's legs and just like to mention 'piano legs' or 'table legs' to make women uncomfortable.

They could just say 'the structure that is holding the piano/table up' but, of course, they won't.

I have started a Campaign to make sure that men are educated to not keep saying legs in the drawing room when referring to furniture or failing that, to cover furniture legs up.

I will soon have a website and petition up and active and you are most welcome, OP, to join us. You sound just the type of person we need and please bring your friends and supporters!

AngeloMysterioso · 11/02/2023 12:14

the B word (that rhymes with pitch)

My god. Imagine being that precious about the word bitch.

I get it, it’s the Voldemort effect. One mustn’t utter it’s name lest a female dog pops out from behind the trees and wipes her muddy paws on you

WonderingWanda · 11/02/2023 14:58

How do you feel about the use of 'chicken breast' by people who cook?

leatherboundbooks · 11/02/2023 14:59

The word dog can be an insult too for a human female. Should we not mention dogs?
I have a cock with my hens. A little known fact is that cocks do not actually have cocks, unlike drakes for example. Chicken sex is described as a cloacal kiss, which is rather sweet

justasking111 · 11/02/2023 15:00

One post and scarpered @DonnaBanana advice try harder next time

VivaciousRadish · 11/02/2023 15:01

I know the sort of people you mean. They’re always people who talk very very loudly. There’s a sort of glee to it.

If they were mumsnetters they’d be the ones making sure their children know the correct words for their privates. No foufou or minnies there. Vulvas all the way

dawngreen · 11/02/2023 15:03

I don't like using that name for my dogs. I just think it is their way of trying to sound like a crufts champion trainer. Talk the talk, and people listen to you.

bobbytorq · 11/02/2023 14:38

I wondered this too.

I'm still getting over the OP saying "The B word that rhymes with Pitch".

DogInATent · 11/02/2023 11:25

My dog is a bitch. That's a fact.

Object to the misuse of the word as a derogatory term, but don't clutch your pearls and try to cancel it as if it isn't a valid word when used correctly. That only reinforces the incorrect use.

I agree with @DogInATent, @DonnaBanana.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/02/2023 15:09

YABU.
'Bitch' is only deemed a 'horrible word' because it's used to insult women. By all means object to people who do that!

Do you also object to people referring to a female bovine as a 'cow', which likewise is also used as an insult to women?

Tratjymp · 11/02/2023 15:10

"I say- What a very fine day for your bitch to catch my cock and pullet."

I’m not into healthcare and medicine myself but I often come across people who are and especially amongst the "nursey/doctory typel” people they seem to take pride in using the V word (that rhymes with Regina) as much as possible and it turns my stomach.
All these bloody gynaecologist and midwives talking about vaginas....and I'm like please, just say the baby comes out your 'flue'.

I’m going to say YABU but i have noticed horse people who have female horses say “ my mare” and people who have make horses say “ my horse” rather than “ my gelding” or “ my stallion”.

*misses point of thread **^

A kid I know talks about having a gelding and explains why it is a gelding.

GoAgainstNicki · 11/02/2023 15:23

I hope I don't offend people when I talk to them about my cock and hens. eg my cock was up at dawn this morning . My neighbours have complained about my cock wakening them up. Should i call him by his name Eric?

I don’t know what’s better, your post or that there is a cockerel in the world named Eric. You’ve made my day!
