To feel unsafe as a woman nearly all the time

I feel unsafe walking in rural areas
I feel unsafe walking at dusk/night
I feel unsafe home alone
I feel unsafe driving alone
I feel unsafe around male police officers
I feel unsafe around men

Our justice system is completely failing women in rape and domestic violence cases and is giving green light to men who wish to act violently

This patriarchal society is creating an Afghanistan style life for many women

YABU. I feel sorry for any man in your life, whether it be your father, friend or colleague.

I can't imagine living my life like this. I would definitely suggest therapy of some sort Flowers

I would say a good 30% of men are physically dangerous but a lot of these are already behind bars. Another 30% are probably seriously misogynistic and the rest vary from more enlightened to fairly misogynistic. The irony of course is that any dangerous or misogynistic man is deserving of any violence or inhustice he oersonally experiences. No one cares anymore whether these men stay alive or not, other than themselves.

Fifty years ago, many Afghani women, particularly the middle and upper classes, had the same freedoms we have in the U.K. Now they don’t.

of course there is a link between living in a society that allows males to be violent by turning a blind eye, or minimising male violence, and a country that enshrines a right to male violence in laws.

The current situation in each country may be different, but the root cause is the same. That shouldn’t be controversial.

And yes, I do wonder about my male colleagues, ESPECIALLY the nice ones, as we know that male abusers often present such an outward face. And yes it is exhausting.

The vast majority of women in this country will experience assault by a male at some point in their lives.

So will the vast majority of men.
