To think we're blatantly being trolled....

Lee Anderson being appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Tory Party.

I'm genuinely disturbed by what on earth the government is doing....Is anyone seriously worried at what the hell is going on?

Apologies if this is a dupe post, couldn't see anything here or on the politics board.

Interview on Radio Nottingham with Verity Cowley (great interviewer) yesterday. When asked about the video where he dishonestly set up a friend as a supporter for a doorstep interview, he asks her repeatedly if she has ever told a lie as an attempt to intimidate her.

He’s a horrible, lying, heartless, self serving bully.

You expect someone who's been elected as an MP, let alone made deputy chairman of the party, atleast to be able to engage with an argument.
He's incapable of doing this. All he can do is talk over an interviewer in a bullying, playground, irrelevant way.

The difference between Lee Anderson and O’Mara @VeniVidiWeeWee is that the Labour Party suspended O‘Mara as soon as dodgy comments he’d made became known. The tories have made Anderson their Deputy Chairman. That’s the difference.

I actually really disagree with this. We have a lot of people in the current government of whom this is true, but there have always been decent politicians on the right and the left who genuinely want to make things better in the country. They just have different ways of doing it. It's a low blow to say they're all the same.

I think there used to be loads, the majority in fact. Now I think at least on the Conservative side, it’s a minority.

The interview with him did miss a few points that he could have been asked.

Such as someone who was a nurse on £30,000 but who had childcare costs, worked part time, no maintainance

Or living in London

Or paying expensive rent / mortgage as a single person, 1 earner household

It was too focused on 'headline' but more cases could have been suggested to enable him to see other points of view

It will be a very very long list.

I would have to spend at least an hour to list the sexual offences, the sleaze, the backhanders, the PPE fast lane beneficiaries, the suspensions, the actual crimes that the Tories have committed.

I listened to that 30p Lee interview. He is actually a bully. And he seemed to forget HE was the one being interviewed, not the other way round. It's a classic Tory action.... Rishi Sunak does it all the time in PMQ. Not answering any querions, but questioning Starmer. Sunak acts like he is the Leader of the Opposition. It is called Prime Ministers Questions for a reason.

And that is what 30p Lee was doing in that interview in a bullying manner.

Anyone mentioned 'poor Katy', his staffer who earns less than 30k and admirably lives well? All underpaid public sector staff just need to budget properly like her and presumably live in a flatshare with their kids

Anderson did forget to mention that Katy rents from her millionaire parents though, funny that.

Renting a room as opposed to a house makes a difference.

I hope he had her permission to post about her - knowing the media scrutiny she would come under. And that permission was freely given

He was suspended long before the expenses scandal - just to get the facts clear. He shouldn't have been selected in the first place, obviously, but the Labour party dealt with him early. They certainly didn't go on to ignore his behaviour and then promote him to a senior role.
