Lee Anderson being appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Tory Party.

I'm genuinely disturbed by what on earth the government is doing....Is anyone seriously worried at what the hell is going on?

Apologies if this is a dupe post, couldn't see anything here or on the politics board.

Why are you worried?

Because he, presumably, holds views different to yours?

Or are you just a bigot?

What is bigoted about objecting to a politician whose bad behaviour has been widely reported?

floradora · 08/02/2023 08:51

This Lee Anderson? Catch the shifty look around to see if anyone is watching before he assaults the person. twitter.com/mikoh123/status/1621067358151344129

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 08/02/2023 08:53

There have always been vaguely competent Tories whose views I don't agree with but who I do believe have the courage of their convictions and who see politics as for the public good and their role as creating a better country

this

and a very pithy follow up post as well 😀

There's an old saying - lie down with dogs and you'll rise with fleas

lovescats3 · 08/02/2023 08:57

What a parlous state of governance we have and have had and will have to put up with until the next election

CousinKrispy · 08/02/2023 08:58

How is there anything left in the bottom of this barrel to be scraped?? Where are the competent, normal human being Tories???

'Bad behaviour' means different things for different people.

Some of the outraged responses on this thread are ridiculous

lovescats3 · 08/02/2023 09:01

Another dead cat as well, has sunak' s father in law finished arguing about how much tax he has to pay yet ?

Dymaxion · 08/02/2023 09:02

Has he been appointed deputy to make Greg Hands look better or as a fall guy and party rottweiler ?

@Sirius3030

You may consider him unpleasant, but please show evidence of his lying or bigotry.

The OP's bigotry is self evident.

Previous posters have already given several instances but I'll repeat this one as it's so blatant:

twitter.com/AndyGJBurge/status/1622994391504764928

There you go: caught out on camera setting up a 'spontaneous' random doorstep situation with a crony. Just like he set up his assistant.

He's been chosen because he looks and sounds like, and thinks like, the Tories' most vulnerable group of voters — the northern red wall Brexiteers.

@ListenToTheFacts even if you’re a rabid Tory, you must appreciate the comedy of that as an answer after someone asked them to put their much more verbose and eloquent answer into “something approaching English”. Surely!

Exactly

the poster whose name escapes me was trying to be clever and put mrsTP down

The irony of being called a bigot when calling out Lee Anderson 😂😂

I won't give you any of the numerous examples of why he is such a vile human being as so many others have done it for me.

Just to clarify; I have no objections to different views, I welcome them but his views can get in the bin. It is an embarrassment that someone who clearly incites and encourages hatred and divisions can be given such a role

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 08/02/2023 09:15

Anyone else seen the photo of him doorstepping where he captioned it "morning with a nice pair of knockers" and he's staring as his assistant's chest? He's skincrawlingly gross.

ChimbarasiKotapaxi · 08/02/2023 09:17

Have you read then about what he said about food banks?

Expunged by Johnson.

Now that was a brilliant summary !

Zebedee55 · 08/02/2023 09:32

Quite alarming that a bell-end, such as Anderson, can be promoted, even in such a talentless government such as this.🙄

I've been voting since 1973, and there have been much better Tories than this motley, self serving lot.

Some Tory MPs are embarrassed about this appointment, to be fair, but he was voted "favourite backbencher" by Tory members, which says something about their level of intelligence lol

On the positive side, this government is dead, politically. It's just a case of ploughing on until the corpse stops twitching and we can get shot of them. Johnson being elected has reduced them, despite being replaced twice, to a global and home grown joke of a party.👍

Anyone mentioned 'poor Katy', his staffer who earns less than 30k and admirably lives well? All underpaid public sector staff just need to budget properly like her and presumably live in a flatshare with their kids

Anderson did forget to mention that Katy rents from her millionaire parents though, funny that.

To think we're blatantly being trolled....
Nooyoiknooyoik · 08/02/2023 09:38

Is there any giving him the benefit of the doubt? He’s certainly not a typical Eton stereotype.

He seems a bit thuggish but then he’s probably grown up with trouble outside his front door, not distantly beyond the thick walls of his vast demesne(s). So he’s more in tune than the average Tory with hard living and less inclined to be all superficially fluffy and woke.

Um, no. I can't give him the benefit of the doubt because there is no doubt. He has made his character and values abundantly clear.

PegSliderskew · 08/02/2023 09:55

The Conservative Party reminds me of Eastenders these days. Like the uncomprehending and motiveless souls trapped in the hell of Albert Square, they are only permitted to employ, befriend and mate with the other occupants of Parliament, however unlikely those couplings gradually become. Sooner or later, every woman will marry Phil Mitchell, every man work for Ian Beale and every child vanish for a while to be reborn as a troubled sexy young adult. Any new resident of the place becomes a dramatic, adulterous mess with criminal leanings, regardless of their personality when they first appear. At the same time, child beaters can become loveable idiots and multiple murderers live next door to the families of their victims with no long term rancour.

There is no rationality, morality or sanity left in the Cabinet. Rishi Sunak will marry Boris Johnson and we will all be dragged down to purgatory.

Having worked for over 20 years in public sector (though not in the commons!) why the HELL are their used wine glasses in her office?! Says it all really.

OK - so you believe his behaviour is acceptable do you?

Do you believe that it's possible to feed yourself/family for 30p a day?

Do you think it's OK to publicly support white supremacists?

Do you think it's OK not only to ogle your colleagues breasts, but to post about them on Twitter?

Do you think it's OK to lie? And to do so knowing that you're on camera?

If you think all this is acceptable, I hate to think what you think 'bad behaviour' is.

To reiterate @MrsTerryPratchett, he's a cunt.

Not really, he's a (proven) lying turncoat thug who got kicked out the Labour party and so is trying his hand at being a Tory instead.
