come on!! Be absolutely honest. how many of you have thrown that fleece over the top of your jimmys and done the school run?! I have many a time, in fact did it this very morning, but bit embarassing when the teacher came and asked me a question about DS and noticed the winnie the pooh sticking out the bottom of my jeans!

It's not that it's a dreadful thing to do, it's more that it's a bit weird. I can't see the problem with just... getting up in the morning! I did this a couple of times and felt uncomfortable about it because i just felt it was giving off the wrong message to dd. Do you want your kids to think that they get up for school, daddy gets up for work.... and mummy slobs around all day??

It doesn't even seem to save any time.

the thought of my mother, my elegant, sophisticated mother, wearing any of my clothes when i was 12 - or wanting to, for that matter, and yes, we were the same size -makes me shudder.

i have two young children. the older one is SN and cannot dress herself and the younger is too young to do so yet.

i have to do nappies, too.

i can see the odd occassion where the child boaks their breakfast and you have to change, or the car won't start, etc. for being late.

but not getting dressed?

that's bizarre.

i fully admit to being a skanky lazy mum , who wants to spend as long as possible in bed in the mornings

I think this is a wind up

It is impossible to imagine a grown woman with only one child who needs sorting out behaving like this

Isn't it?

If this thread is for real, I think you need a job. That'd help you get your act together.

Can honestly say that I have never even thought about doing the school run in my PJs, let alone actually done it.

I think converse is planning to drip feed a little bit of benefit fraud in next.

Agree with Lou in that its not harming anyone ...... but I could never do the school run in my pjs. It takes 30 secs to fling on some clothes FGS.

It is, though, lou.

You know, something that really struck me? I was reading an interview from Liv Tyler the other day.

And she said her mother used to take her to school in her pajamas and dinner would be a carton of yoghurt in the car and stuff like that, and how it embarrassed the hell out of her, how she got teased for it - even though obviously her mother is an incredibly beautiful woman, and how she puts huge amount of effort into details like this now she's a mother herself.

And a few references to other MN flashpoints.

I am with expat sort of, except that I believe that all children are mortally ashamed of their parents

But sleaze is bad. Lazy and bad. It just is. Bad example. Think of the poor teachers having to talk to unwashed parents ... Yuck.

well i think there is a difference between driving to school in them (i.e not getting out of the car), and walking about the school playground in them

i wouldnt wander about in my jamas

but then i wouldnt take offence if someone did, i might think it was odd, and they could possibly be depressed though

I am very serious that I do and have done the school run in the pj's. So do a load of my friends. Out in the sticks were we live it seems to be the norm!
Also tru is the toast and tea in the car.

Obviously the only bit i am messing about on is the hubby and his pj's, but I have had such a giggle doing this tonight as I cannot believe that people are so shocked!

well, i live way out in the sticks where it's cold, dark and wet much of the year and oddly enough, i see tons of mums every day on the school run and they're all wearing . . .

clothes other than PJs!

in fact, i can't imagine going in PJs because, well, people around here would find it skanky and minging and i don't want that for my child.

Well, let me begin by saying that I don't actually give a crap what any of you wear on the school run, but...if you are finding that you don't have time to get washed and dressed in the morning - you are allowed to get up earlier, you know.

expatinscotland · 07/02/2008 21:21

if you're not driving, it is nice, the cup of tea in the car.

if you are, it's pretty much a waste.
