come on!! Be absolutely honest. how many of you have thrown that fleece over the top of your jimmys and done the school run?! I have many a time, in fact did it this very morning, but bit embarassing when the teacher came and asked me a question about DS and noticed the winnie the pooh sticking out the bottom of my jeans!

Sorry for being judgemental but this is mingin'.

Is there no way of getting dressed before leaving the house?

Mind you if I was in pjs past 10.00am on mat leave I felt ROUGH, same in hospital!! Up and dressed 1st thing regardless for me.

Don't think my patients would take me that seriously dressed in nightclobber as well, or my boss! Have nevr seen any parents at dds nursery in their pjs, but I expect they all work but have seen them drop off dcs in pjs a few times, with a change of clothes for dc. Don't like that either I'm afraid.

I go to work after dropping of at b/fast club so do tend to get dressed I was ill last december and drove my dd to b/fast club waited in the car until I saw her go inside and then drove home and back into bed

My dd is 9 though and on the days I dont work walks to school without me - I am up and usually have showered and dressed before she leaves for school - but that is just my way (I feel gruby if I havn't and as I am usually awake at 4am I feel the need for water)

is this thread real?

i hate stepping out the door to put the gas card in the meter in my pj's. would never ever take kids to school in my pj's.

Well...why would you wear your pj's UNDER yur normal clothes...then you might aswell just take the pj's off...surely?

Must admit, not a trend I am favouring...many mums here do it, and they don't just bring them to school that way, they are often still in them when picking them up!
Also, seen people in their pj's in the shops...honest...I don't get it!

I mean, don't get me wrong, I do have PJ days...but I would not go any further then bringing the bins out whilst only on pj's...

Reminds me of when I was a student nurse living in hospital accommodation. There was a tunnel system from the Nurses' Home to the main hospital (and more importantly there was a hospital shop) Obviously the patients used to visit the shop in their pjs, so we would get away with it too. Often used to go to the shop via the tunnel for chocolate at the week ends!

Have NEVER seen a Mum round here do it and I live opposite 2 schools. I've never understood the appeal of spending all day in pjs (unless ill) before dd feel mucky and lazy, a friend once invited me round to hers and asked me to bring pjs and a fluffy dressing gown, it was 3pm???

But hey, I'm obsessional, and vain and do have lipgloss on and mascara before ever leaving the house

But why don't you get dressed?

Report
conversebootmum · 07/02/2008 19:16

well then you have to get completely undressed again to have bath and get dressed all over again. easier to shove clothes on top and deal with it later IMO and plenty of others by the looks of it. All ye who are shocked and appalled ought to try it, bet you'd soon join the club!

But why would you leave the house without washing?

Report
misdee · 07/02/2008 19:22

no no no ewwwwwwww.

i managed to fit in a run before school today but didnt have time for a shower afterwards, and felt so minging and gross untill i got home, had a shower and clean clothes on.

i did get a wash in, but no time for a full shower.

was paranoid i smelt really bad.

why would you go out in pj's under your clothes? i really really dont get it.

Lovin' it ladies. Where I grew up it was the norm. Go the garage of a night and the ladies r queing up in their fleecy numbers.

I drop DD1 off at school in my pj's about once a week. I don't get out of the car so I just stick a fleece on over the top and drive her there.

It's usually the day I do my cleaning so I come back, crack on with it and when I've finished I get showered and dressed then put my pj's in the wash.

Right,my school run is approx 6 mins in the car along a country lane. If its a day when DS goes in on his own I can leave the house 8.45 asnd back indoors by 9. Then I can have as long as i like in the bath, half an hour, an hour, whatever. If on the other hand I have to fit in my bath before school, that means between DH shower, DD shower and DS x 3 bath, there is not alot of time or hot water for moi. On top of all animals being fed, children packed lunches etc, I like to get everyone sorted, then take my time for myself, when peace reigns over the household. Simple as that. as well as being a bit of a skanky rebel too of course!

bathe your kids in the evening and yourself in the morning

going out in PJs is just horrible.

Oh, I've done this. Taking pyjamas off would mean having to find the time to get the clean knickers!

And for those who want to know why I am not putting clothes while ds is eating breakfast, the answer is that I am upstairs trying to deal with dd's panic attack. She suffers severe chronic pain which is at its worst in the morning and often has panic attacks at the thought that she won't be able to bear the pain during the day. If she panics her muscles go into spasm so she can't sit up at all- meaning she can't go to school. So nagging is not an option. Getting her out of bed while helping her to handle the pain and dealing with her fears is more than a fulltime job. Sometimes she needs carrying. She is 11 and almost as tall as me. And the wheelchair is heavy, so I need to allow plenty of time.

Anything else anyone wanted to know?

You leave the house at 8.45 and haven't time for a bath/shower??? Either have a bath the night before or get up earlier !

For me this is a bit of a nail in the coffin of the SAHM/WOHM debate. Alright for some I say, having 30 mins or 1 hr in the bath every day.

To think I used to go around saying, "oh no, it's just as hard to stay at home and look after the kids as it is to go out to work" (err... and then come home and do all the housework & cooking and childminding...)

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE staying in pjs all day but haven't been out in them since I was a student.

I'm afraid I really do think YABU !

Should add that I put jeans and jumper on over nightie, so at least not visible.

Ok now I have to say sorry because you explained just exactly WHAT you are doing in the morning.

But to be honest your OP just made you sound lazy (and now it doesn't sound like you are !).

Would still go with bathing the kids or yourself the night before though/
