I cannot believe that the charges have been dropped.

Anyone remember the audio recording?

He demanded she put her legs up.
“Mason stop, I don’t want to have sex.”
”I don’t give a fuck what you want.”

Charges dropped. I cannot believe it.

Why is that not even a surprise?

grass321 · 30/07/2023 19:24

It feels like a meal ticket for life for all the wrong reasons. I hope I'm wrong.

Just4ThisThread · 30/07/2023 19:35

The baby was born a few weeks ago, she likely found out she was pregnant at the time she withdrew her statement.
I hope she and her child are safe.

TaiDee · 16/08/2023 22:16

Can’t believe it looks like he’ll be back playing.

And the club publicly pressuring the women’s team too.

Appalling.

SpinningFloppa · 16/08/2023 22:55

We live in a country innocent until proven guilty. No reason why he shouldn't go back. She took him back why shouldnt they 🤷‍♀️ he's not been convicted of anything

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 16/08/2023 23:06

We all heard the audio and saw the pictures. He should never ever play professional football again. The fact that Man Utd think there is even a decision to be made here is absolutely horrifying.

Dropped charges is not the same as not guilty.

The language they have used in the statement is awful, implying there is evidence they have been party to which could outweigh what we all heard and saw with our own eyes and ears.

People that are shocked, not sure why you are

There's footballers that have killed people and have resumed playing

The bottom line is, if he's a good standard of player then there will always be a demand for him

SpinningFloppa · 16/08/2023 23:09

No one said it was just simply that he was not convicted. You can't stop someone's life over something they was never convicted of! That's the reason we have trials 🙄 with no conviction he is free to live his life with no consequences. Maybe it wasn't him in the recording no one knows only the people that was there

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 16/08/2023 23:14

Oh get lost with the rapist apologist bullshit.

SpinningFloppa · 16/08/2023 23:19

Same to you! Very slippery slope when you want people to be criminalised when they've never even been convicted. That's not how this country works!

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 16/08/2023 23:26

Not asking for him to be criminalised, I recognise that there is no prospect of him withering away behind bars like he should do as he’s managed to manipulate and pay off his victim so there is no possibility of evidence that can be tested in a court of law.

However the information that is available in the public domain is enough for me (and most decent people) to say that this man is not the type of person we want to see in an influential role for young boys and men to look up to and idolise.

True, people say all kinds of nasty stuff about Jimmy Saville too, despite him never being convicted.

Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, end of.

TaiDee · 16/08/2023 23:31

(I trust the sarcasm shines through there).

Different story the man died! So everyone's life should be ruined over accusations alone? Everyone? As that's what you're asking for!

Everyone who has been caught on tape trying to rape someone, yes.

SpinningFloppa · 16/08/2023 23:43

There have been men who have had their lives ruined over false accusations. He is not convicted of anything no reason for him not to go back. No proof it was him in the recording.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 16/08/2023 23:43

Accusations accompanied by audio and pictorial evidence. Yeah. Honestly I’d be pretty comfortable with that.

Clutching at straws. He’s never denied it was him, and no way would the club have suspended him for so long if the authenticity of the recording was in question.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 16/08/2023 23:51

And would you really get back together with and impregnate a woman who falsified a recording of you attempting to rape her and posted photos of blood pouring down her face suggesting you had done that to her?

SpinningFloppa · 16/08/2023 23:58

The CPS can proceed with the case regardless of the person withdrawing their statement as you can't drop or press charges in the UK, its the CPS that decide. So if they 'evidence' was strong enough on its own he would have been convicted regardless and he wasn't.

Just4ThisThread · 17/08/2023 00:02

Fuck me. How naive are you? Imagine stating that he would have been convicted if guilty.
Have you ever taken a look at statistics for convictions where a witness hasn’t withdrawn?

SpinningFloppa · 17/08/2023 00:05

Its not about that. Its that he was NOT convicted so you can't treat him like a criminal if he wasn't that's how this country works. Unless you want to treat everyone that's ever had an accusation made against them as a criminal?! Might as well get rid of trials then. Every person that's had an accusation made against them shouldn't have their life ruined. He wasn't convicted so he is a free man and that's the way it works in this country.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 17/08/2023 00:06

Sigh.

The only witness in the case has withdrawn all cooperation. There is no realistic prospect of a conviction because the witness will not give an account of what she suffered in court.

Even the most average defence lawyer will put doubt in a juries mind without the witness giving her account.

But let’s be honest here. He did it. He hasn’t denied it. We heard him do it.

Why do you keep banging on about ‘everyone that’s ever had an accusation made against them’?

It’s on tape ffs.
