I agree. Attempting to get a conviction on the basis of that recording alone is unlikely to succeed. It is often forgotten that the recording ends with the male voice (presumed to be Greenwood) saying, "Get the f* off me". The defence would have a field day with that on its own, especially if the complainant is no longer supporting the prosecution.

i know - that’s the other thing that made me think it would just get ripped to shreds by defence. He was persistent aggressive and demeaning yes. But that doesn’t constitute attempted rape. I feel a bit sick saying that because he’s clearly a fucking scumbag who treats women appallingly but it was always a paper thin case.

The police and justice system are the same as NHS at this point. On their knees and so broken it's not fit for purpose.

What a mess. Agree she decided the money and status was better, I was surprised she went public with this anyway was clear it was never going to be followed through. If he was “wrongly” accused though I don’t see why he would get back with someone who would do that so…. Money talks 🤷‍♀️

Maybe I’m being dim, but I can’t see from that article that the girl who is pregnant is the same girl who accused him? If she IS the same girl, then I really don’t think money and status come into it. There are so many threads on here from women who’ve had dc with absolute tossers and they didn’t have any money! Abusive relationships can be really hard to leave. I hope she is getting support and advice from people that love her. And, I wish MN was a nicer place.

Sorry yes if of course it is the same girl. MN can’t really be a ‘nicer place’ until the world is, and I object to the idea that because it’s a website mainly for mums we should #bekind and be sugary sweet and not discuss anything dark or difficult. And that includes uncomfortable topics which don’t fit desired narratives.

Abusive relationships are incredibly hard to leave, it often takes multiple attempts and money has nothing to do with it. Most of the women who are helped by Womens Aid do not have partners with money or status, yet still they stay. That’s not an uncomfortable topic or a desired narrative, it’s a fact.
