RealBecca · 31/01/2023 20:04

I love it!!

lalaloopyhead · 31/01/2023 20:04

Sounds like a porn star name, especially if they use Fury as the surname

Aldith · 31/01/2023 20:05

Bad but far from the worst I’ve come across. I’ve met children whose given first name is a single letter or named after random items of clothing or body parts along the lines of Enamel and Pyjamas but pronounced Eenarmel and Peejarmay and then of course there are the parents who try to make their child unique by giving them a creative spelling of a name. Without realising that Mykell will still be pronounced the same way as Michael but Mykell will have to spell his name out every time someone new wants to write it down.

phoenixrosehere · 31/01/2023 20:05

Good grief. It’s not horrendous to the point wtf is warranted.

Always find it a bit strange how up in arms some people get over a benign name. Not a name you have chosen, fine but the “omg someone named their child something I hate or would never do so I must moan about it” says more about the person moaning than the parents.

I recall Bambi being used as a name when the Disney movie came out, no different from what some parents do when a movie or tv show becomes popular and they like the name. Nothing new.

Knickerthief1 · 31/01/2023 20:06

I misread the headline and thought they had called the baby Leaks! After that I thought Bambi was fine! 😂

Shitty Nicknames aren’t reserved for unusual names. The worst affected in my school were Annie & Ruby.

Oh I know. My first name is traditional and kids managed to find demeaning words to put with it. My last name is unusual and of course that got me even more grief.

It’s what Molly Mae and Tommy Fury have named their daughter. So, sadly, I can confirm it’s real.

Lets hope the poor lamb doesn’t have the bandy legs and knobbly knees I had growing up…

I don’t have a clue who that is, so it’s not crossed my radar.

Some kids can be so cruel 😞

Jayneisagirlsname · 31/01/2023 21:31

It's way out of the spectrum of names I would choose but ...... I actually quite like it. I can see it on a woman as well as a baby. Disney aside, it's not too far removed from Molly, Maisy, Ellie etc.

xprincessxjanetx · 31/01/2023 21:37

It's not my cup of tea but as the child of a celeb she is unlikely to encounter many nasty people who will make fun.

Beezknees · 31/01/2023 21:39

I don't like it myself, but the baby has been born to very wealthy parents, so let's face it she will never have to apply for a regular job or get bullied at a bog standard secondary school.

PainterInPeril · 31/01/2023 21:40

I'd be worried about calling my child Bambi, someone might Thumper...

Indeed. No doubt will go to The Ryleys if they stay where they are and there will be no shortage of similar names there!

whataboutsecondbreakfast · 31/01/2023 21:41

Any name can be used as a reason for teasing. I have a very normal name and I was teased mercilessly throughout primary school for it.

Bambi really isn't the worst name in the world.

HotPotInASpot · 31/01/2023 21:43

My mum is Bambi - Barbara is her actual name but I’ve never heard her called that by anyone other than when we’ve checked into flights or something. It’s been her name used since childhood. It’s never been commented on afaik. It’s a bit odd to actually legally name your child that, I guess, but it’s only parents that ever make sly comments to their kids to let them know that a child’s name is unusual.

Karen398 · 31/01/2023 21:43

My cousins nickname is Bambi, it really suits her still at 43

Mimilamore · 31/01/2023 21:46

Oh for goodness sake... if the parents have chosen it then it's their choice. She won't be bullied, children are actually very laid back about names... unless of course they pick up negative vibes from parents...

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/01/2023 21:47

I was going to say, the problem is that Bambi’s mother gets shot. So it’s like wishing ill on yourself.

BCBird · 31/01/2023 21:50

I sitting here thinking poor kid and also poor kids if there is worse than that out there 🙄

Allthegoodusernamesareused · 31/01/2023 21:51

Bambi is a real girl's name (of Italian origin) and not just a Disney character, you know.

It wouldn't be my first choice, but it's not the worst I've heard. Honestly, some of the comments on here are ridiculous, some bordering on vile.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 31/01/2023 21:56

Bambi was a name used before the movie anyway, plus Bambi is a nickname. It's fine.

I hate all this crap about porn star and stripper names. Just stop.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 31/01/2023 21:58

There are droves of immaculately platinum blonde, white and camel linen and red Pashmina clad ladies gliding between stalls at the Hampton Court Flower Show accompanied by their adoring husbands in their Panamas calling out 'Oh, do come and see this, Bunty/Bunny/Bambi, darling - it's simply delightful!'.

😂😆😂

No, it's really not a real name that's used in Italy. Don't get your facts from thebump.com.

Theunamedcat · 31/01/2023 22:03

Everyone goes with Disney my first thought was James Bond 😳

Wasn't Bambi a boy?

Yes, but it was an Italian girls name. It also is across other cultures. But the most acknowledged is it being short for Bambino.
I can remember the uproar when Paula Yates children's names were announced. Also the Beckham's, less said about them the better, though. It's a cute name and could be quite a strong name for a middle aged woman. I picture her looking like Sophia Loren.
