Funny how people have just assumed it’s their daughters full name and not actually a nickname?

IdidntshagHarry · 31/01/2023 22:06

Bambi Fury - Is this where Bambi grows up and takes up the shitty hunters that killed his mother. What a film that will be, major difference is that I won't cry when the hunter with the gun gets killed.

Apollonia1 · 31/01/2023 22:06

It's not the worst.

It made me think of the character in the James Bond film "Diamonds are Forever" called Bambi. She was pretty tough!

Sondrugissue · 31/01/2023 22:09

I actually quite like it and I’m usually one for traditional names. I think it’s lovely for a baby /toddler and actually could age well and ok for an older lady , a bit like Barbara if that makes sense ?!

SpinningFloppa · 31/01/2023 22:10

There’s much worse names in my kids school (universe, lucky, diamond, princess) no one bats an eyelid I don’t think kids are bullied for their names as much these days 🤷‍♀️

WimbyAce · 31/01/2023 22:14

I think maybe as a middle name it would be quite cute.

kitsuneghost · 31/01/2023 22:16

I like it and think it works fine on an adult.

Grapewrath · 31/01/2023 22:20

My friend is 40, her actual name is Amber but she’s always been known as Bambi. Nobody calls her anything else, even at work. It’s not an issue imo, call your baby what you like.
My children have unusual names and I like that there’s not loads of them about. People might find their names weird, I find lots of names boring. Each to their own.

TheChosenTwo · 31/01/2023 22:21

I know a Bambi, well not her full first name but a derivative (she’s not British), she’s mid 30’s and really bloody lovely.
Never heard of either of the parents and I’m guessing they’re famous and I’m unlikely to meet baby Bambi but I don’t mind the name. I mean, it’s a tad… eccentric? No, don’t think that’s the right word. Anyway, as celeb names go it’s certainly not the worst I’ve heard. Plus I’m sure the baby is cute regardless 😂

The baby has it on her clothes and her nursery wall. The mum said months ago she had something unusual chosen from her childhood that people would most likely hate. It’s a fair assumption this is the babys full name.

It’s always a better idea to give your DC a flexible name that can be used in the diminutive and grow with the person.
E.g. Dolores: can be Lolita as a small child to late teens, Lola in 20’s to’40’s ( or further) and Dolores formally or as a mature woman. Similarly, Robert can be Robbie, Rob and finally (formally) Robert
Bambi will always mean Child, and has no capacity to be used to reflect the maturity of the named person…

SmellyNelliey · 31/01/2023 22:37

Tommy's a gypsy if they have gone with traditions then she will be named after Tommy's mothers.
I don't think it's the worst name out there could well be a nickname and keeping her real name private who knows.

GooglyEyeballs · 31/01/2023 22:39

Were you on a train to London Waterloo earlier? I heard the whole story 🤣 as did the entire coach!!!

Little Bambi fit in with her cousins- Valencia, Venezuela and three boys all called Prince

I learnt about the cousin called Venezuela tonight.

Venezuela.

I'd actually argue that's worse than Bambi.

My DM is in her 70s and no one has ever commented on her having a child’s name, afaik.

HotPotInASpot · 31/01/2023 23:41

She’s also got a PhD so officially she’s Dr Bambi too

JudgeRinderonTinder · 31/01/2023 23:50

Poor little deer

harrassedmumto3 · 31/01/2023 23:58

No idea who's calling their child this, but I have the strongest hunch they're not the brightest sparks 😬

Addymontgomeryfan · 01/02/2023 00:02

I know of 2 girls called Bambi, a 4 year old and a 14 year old. I don't think it's actually that rare and it's not a bad name

ILiveInTornadoAlley · 01/02/2023 00:04

JudgeRinderonTinder · 31/01/2023 23:50

Poor little deer

Hahaha, you made me actually laugh out loud. Good one.

blueberryb · 01/02/2023 00:06

Regardless of what we think of her name.

She's going to be rich, related to the heavyweight champion of the world, famous parents.

The name isn't going to set her back in life.
