To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

I think he likes any attention, even if it’s not positive. No, I don’t feel sorry for him.

userxx · 28/01/2023 09:33

Gormless is the right word.

YABU if you think VB is spectacularly talented.

cushioncovers · 28/01/2023 09:35

Nope why on earth would I feel sorry for him. He's learning that money can't buy everything and that we all have things we can and can't do same as any other young adult.

avist · 28/01/2023 09:37

In 2017, Beckham announced that he would pursue a photography degree at Parsons School of Design at the New School in New York. He failed to complete the first year of the four year course and subsequently abandoned his degree. Beckham's first book of photography, entitled What I See, was published in June 2017.

All the money in the world, he could have done anything,

thebellagio · 28/01/2023 09:38

He's had more opportunities than anyone and he's thrown them all away.

He got into Parsons which is notoriously tough to get into and dropped out. He did an internship with a major fashion photographer and dropped out. He now seems to be trying to be a chef, but rather than actually going to cooking school and learning, or doing an apprenticeship in a kitchen, he's doing shitty online videos.

Say what you want about Posh and Becks, but they've both always had such a strong work ethic. You don't get to the very top of their careers without working hard. He just comes across as lazy to me.

He's now what, mid 20s? I'm all for finding your career and taking your time to do what you love, but at some point, he needs to get a job.

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:38

I think every time a new video pops up, I imagine myself if I was his mum. I'd think I should have steered him in other directions, presented other options. I don't know, maybe they think it's all fantastic and are not at all embarrassed for him.

thebellagio · 28/01/2023 09:39

If he's serious about cooking, why not talk to Gordon Ramsey and use his contacts to actually try and learn? Or is it that mum and dad keep using their contacts and he keeps throwing them all away....

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:39

@Fizbosshoes
I was referring to his Pa 😁

GhostPillow · 28/01/2023 09:39

His family have enough money that he could live comfortably, out of the limelight and tabloids.

He chooses to put himself out there again and again for attention.

He's a plonker.

I was thinking the same thing 🤣

mrstumblet · 28/01/2023 09:39

Have name changed as possibly outing to those who know me!

Having worked with the family over the years I can safely say sadly Brooklyn isn't really university material. Despite their education the boys are rather like dad in that way.

The children see being famous as successful and having been part of it from day one they want to emulate that.

safeplanet · 28/01/2023 09:41

They were raised in the spotlight to be part of the "brand". Why on earth you would do that to your kids I don't know but obviously Brooklyn sees fame as success.

lyson · 28/01/2023 09:42

This is out of order, but, he's not a looker either he is

Hoppinggreen · 28/01/2023 09:42

The problem is with these kids is that they don’t HAVE to do anything so they can play at everything without actually needing to be good at it.
Theres no motivation to excel

lightinthemirrorstormyoutside · 28/01/2023 09:43

I don’t feel sorry for him as he’s had so many opportunities and squandered them all which make it hard for me to do so. That said he seems like quite a nice kid and I’m assuming understands that he’s ridiculed every time he posts one of his cooking videos, so he must quite enjoy doing it despite that.

Why does he? He's minted, he doesn't need to work.

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:43

I was reading an article about Chet Hanks the other day and he referred to toxic fame and in his case he's not even famous for anything, it's just his name. I imagine that must mess with a young persons head. But yes, all that privilege and money can't buy the recognition BB seems to crave. Maybe he is just lazy and entitled 🤔

IAmTheWalrus85 · 28/01/2023 09:44

He’s so embarrassing. I don’t feel sorry for him though.

PSNonsense · 28/01/2023 09:44

The thing that jars is that Parsons is a notoriously hard to get into and I can't help but think of a talented, hungry, nowhere near as monied student desperate to get in and didn't die to Brooklyn taking up a space and jacking it in a year later. His 'photography' book proved he didn't have any talent.

StanFransDisco · 28/01/2023 09:45

Whenever I see anything about his latest useless escapade I always wonder...just think if he was born an ordinary Joe born into an ordinary family in an ordinary street. He'd be scratching around making stupid videos on universal credit living rent free with his mum. He seems particularly dim and has no discernible skills whatsoever. I find him strangely irritating.

Don't you think they would have done this??

They are probably very annoyed with him, he's not reflecting well on them.

Toddlingturtle · 28/01/2023 09:46

I think it’s terribly sad. He’s married far too young and has no skills. If he wants to cook he should be doing an apprenticeship on a kitchen and actually learning a skill. it’s very sad and a real shame. His parents have indeed worked hard but they have brought it upon themselves. There was no reason on earth why the children need to be famous, they could have been kept out of the papers via an injunction and by their parents not parading them

I remember watching either graham Norton or Jonathan Ross years ago and they asked Gary Barlow and I think will smith or someone what their kids were up to. And the will smith pr someone said “oh this thing that thing and she wants to do xyz” and Gary Barlow said “going to school and working for his exams” who has a clue who his kids are and what they do? Absoltely right

LittleBearPad · 28/01/2023 09:47

TaRaDeBumDeAy · 28/01/2023 09:43

Why does he? He's minted, he doesn't need to work.

Because having no purpose in life is pretty limiting and not good for people’s self esteem.

It doesn’t have to be a highly paid job but he’d do better to earn some money properly than depend on the banks of mum, dad and wife.

Smokeahontas · 28/01/2023 09:47

I feel sorry for him in that he’s embarrassing himself and he doesn’t seem to realise it. He got into the photography school, dropped out. There was that dire book as well.

If he was serious about becoming a chef, his parents have the money to send him to the best cookery schools to learn. Not hire a camera crew at a reported cost of £100k to film him making a bacon sandwich.
