To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:32

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

Gordon Ramsay's son is in the Marines. I think at least one, maybe two of his daughters, are at university. As someone mentioned, we know nothing about Gary Barlow's children or what they do. It's perfectly possible for rich celebrities to bring their children up to value opportunities, education and have a work ethic. The Beckhams have failed to do that and in that respect I feel sorry for Brooklyn. He's an aimless young man.

I blame the message the Royal Family give to every one of us. Just be born, then you can tinker around with whatever you like dear. Education? just do the minimum required by law. Work? cut a few ribbons and try this and that.
Money? no worries mate, just play with life, you will have no money worries to think of ever.

You’re being ridiculous.

I feel sorry for members of the RF as they can’t do certain things and can never truly escape but I think children of famous people are very fortunate as they can choose how much spotlight they get (most of the time) and they could choose to move countries and become ‘normal’ and most people don’t realise.

I follow a singer on Instagram and although they live in a big home and have lovely holidays etc, their son has a job at McDonald’s.
I think they’ve got it right that they teach them to work at a normal job like most teens do.

That's true, there are plenty of famous and successful people whose children we never hear about, who get on with their lives. Of course they still have the privilege of wealth and connections, but are carving their own path in life. And I salute them, because it must be a bit harder to do that in the shadow of a very successful parent.

I remember a rock singer I'm a fan of was being interviewed about his teenage children and buying them their first car. He talked about his daughter saving up with her part time job, and then him and his wife contributed half and she got Honda or something. Like a small basic car. Even though this guy was worth multimillions.
You could tell the interviewer was expecting him to say 'oh I bought them a ferarri' or something. But it sounded like he wanted his kids to understand what it takes to actually earn something.

YABU if you think VB is spectacularly talented.

That was my kneejerk reaction too Fizz, then I remembered that VB is no dimwit, & parlayed an average dancing ability & poor vocal talent into various business interests & no doubt smart financial instruments. She launched herself as a brand & propelled herself into a lucrative marriage to another high-status celeb who she also had a significant role in re-branding, & leveraged herself & her H into a power couple with longevity & global reach.

I don't find any of that valuable, but VB clearly does, had ambition for fame & money from an early age, & a huge talent for making it happen and holding onto it longterm.
Not to say luck didn't play a part, but it has to for everyone - even David B: not every magic-footed youngster gets taken up by a club.

As to BB - I feel sorry for most of his ilk - "poor little rich kids", but not sorry enough to negate the scorn & derision about that whole set of deluded people peddling the noxious nonsense of money as god, & fame as lifeblood.
I could rage at Olympic performance level about that, but at least Britain also produced Marcus Rashford. He's a far more interesting celeb, & makes BB etc look even more like the wankers they are.

Nope don't have one ounce of compassion.

I feel for the children who are full time carers for parents and struggle to find time to do hw. I feel sorry for children who are hungry , living in freezing houses, children growing up in abusive households.

Him no..

This. Why anybody would sit around feeling sorry for him is beyond my comprehension.

Gordon Ramsay's son is in the Marines

There are pictures of him and if I saw him coming at me I’d try to get away as far as I could, as fast I could. He looks very much Like the real deal.

This. Also, one of Jamie Oliver's daughters is at uni training to be a nurse, which I found heartening to read.

I'm sorry but given his enthusiasm for tattoos, surely he's overlooked the most important tattoo of all.
TIT across his forehead.

Ahh, I love the MR argument. Interesting he cropped on a thread strewn with mention of very good talent for PR.

That photography book was iconic, if only for inspiring the Twitter debate over whether one shot was in fact a silhouette of an elephant, or two seals glued to a tree stump.

This is out of order, but, he's not a looker either he is

I don't think that any of them are tbh!

VB is really talented - everyone laughed when she ditched a singing career (and she can't sing) to become a high end fashion designer.

But she did it and - years later - is highly respected and successful.

She did it by getting in Roland Mouret as a “mentor”. His comments afterwards were interesting. If you look at how VB used to dress it was clear she had no fashion sense at all. She really wasn’t one of those people with an intrinsic understanding of fashion and clothing. What she does have is the sense to bring in really talented people and to copy them.
Her makeup line is good. Again I am sure she has a very good team.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 10:21

Jamie Oliver has a daughter at Uni 😱😱😱 how old do I feel reading that!!!

Cocolapew · 28/01/2023 10:21

He does come across a bit gormless, the Vogue thing where he was critiquing his wife's clothes was cringy.
As an aside, Nicola has the worst dress sense.
Bruce Springsteen's son is a firefighter. Now that's a proper job.

Whenever I see anything about his latest useless escapade I always wonder...just think if he was born an ordinary Joe born into an ordinary family in an ordinary street. He'd be scratching around making stupid videos on universal credit living rent free with his mum. He seems particularly dim and has no discernible skills whatsoever. I find him strangely irritating.

He probably wouldn't though. He may well be working hard at a trade by now. It's the fact that he's never had to do anything thats his problem.

I thought it looked more like a Mickey Mouse hat.

Echobelly · 28/01/2023 10:22

I don't feel sorry for him given his life - but bless him, the lad seems pretty useless at everything!

SpentDandelion · 28/01/2023 10:22

I'm sure his parents are very much aware of how of how he is being judged by outsiders.
I admire Gordon Ramseys son Jack for not taking the easy way out, mind you GR has made it clear he's not leaving his kids a penny.

diddl · 28/01/2023 10:20

No, then again I never once thought David and Victoria were attractive and never understood the crushes so many women had on DB. He looks like a street vendor flogging stolen goods.

blacktreacles · 28/01/2023 10:22

There’s a long list of people I feel sorry before Brooklyn Beckham.

MountedbyHarryWindsor · 28/01/2023 10:23

He needs to get proper training / qualifications instead of basically declaring he's a chef and getting attention cause of who he is. He also seems to change career every week. I'd have more respect for him if he was properly trained.

His brother Romeo is getting proper football training although being David's son helped

4thonthe4th · 28/01/2023 10:05

I can agree with this. I will add he, and the rest of the family, do do a lot of charity & voluntary work out of the spotlight but yes, he could’ve done anything he wanted to do.

I was at a teacher training seminar one evening. One of the teachers had actually taught DB. She said he was good at maths. The idea that DB is stupid is ludicrous.

Waves..... "Hellllloooo Victoria.."
How much has David ploughed into your" "fashion" business to shore up your losses??

I agree, the public aren't buying into the PR, that BB is talented as a chef, photographer, or whatever he wants to be this week?

Theres no motivation to excel
Is that something you are born with or is taught by your parents I wonder?
The likes ofBruce Springsteen and Bill Gates daughters excel in equestrian sports, where you have to work hard but injecting cold hard cash certainly gives them an advantage. There has to be a willingness to work too though.
Anyway, just idle musings. These are rich people problems my children will never face 😄

One of Springsteen's sons is a fireman. I think that's brilliant. I know nothing about Brooklyn Beckham but, from reading this thread, I can see him heading for depression and an identity crisis.
