To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

I think teaching would be far beyond his capabilities!

MarshaBradyo · 28/01/2023 10:06

The designs the VB brand results in are nice but I’d credit the designers she uses

I wouldn’t buy it on principle as I like to back designers

If he's serious about cooking, why not talk to Gordon Ramsey and use his contacts to actually try and learn? Or is it that mum and dad keep using their contacts and he keeps throwing them all away....

Isn't that how/why he's already doing the cooking thing?

MargaritaRita · 28/01/2023 10:07

I blame the message the Royal Family give to every one of us. Just be born, then you can tinker around with whatever you like dear. Education? just do the minimum required by law. Work? cut a few ribbons and try this and that.
Money? no worries mate, just play with life, you will have no money worries to think of ever.

Lucylock · 28/01/2023 10:07

I blame the parents as they have paraded these children around to the point that they carry that weight with them into adulthood. It's made it very difficult for them to start from the bottom in an ordinary job if everyone knows who your parents are. It's also made them used to fame and adoration and to see it as something to aspire to. It's quite sad really.

OTOH he's an adult so he could if he wished just drop out of the fame game and put all his £ to good use by finding a job .

safeplanet · 28/01/2023 10:08

@JoyPeaceHealthz does she design them? I think she is talented PR wise. The line does have some great designs but I've never personally thought she had good style.

He’s not doing a 12 hour shift in a restaurant though is he. Proper chefs work bloody hard. He’s just fanning about.

Comedycook · 28/01/2023 10:08

I think people are being a bit mean about his food. Loads of ordinary people post photos and videos of their cooking or dinner on social media. He does seem a bit out of touch but he comes from a very privileged background so it's hardly surprising. However, he seems like a polite pleasant enough person and comes across as well brought up.

Let’s assume that Parsons (the US college at which he embarked on, and dropped out of, a photography degree within a year) is indeed ‘notoriously hard to get into’: I don’t know anything about it.

Does anyone believe for one second that poor old Brooklyn got in by passing the interview, or whatever the selection process was? Of course not. He got in with the help of a big pile of cash from mum and dad. So whilst I haven’t got anything positive to say about Brooklyn Beckham, I’m not sure that he can be accused of elbowing out a talented student, because I’ve no doubt that Parsons were happy to create an extra place for the son of a moneybags.

I don't think that's how it works.
If there's 30 kids in a class and the Beckhams backhanded a large sum, then 29 kids get a place and Brooklyn.

I met VB and Brooklyn many times when he was little. I had nothing but respect for them and know they do a huge amount for charity very quiety.

David going to the world cup, despite the human rights record in Qatar, was very disappointing.
He could have made a stand and refused. Very misjudged.

I am so invested in BB's "career". On absolute tenterhooks to see what he dips his toes into next

Cocobutt · 28/01/2023 10:12

I feel sorry for members of the RF as they can’t do certain things and can never truly escape but I think children of famous people are very fortunate as they can choose how much spotlight they get (most of the time) and they could choose to move countries and become ‘normal’ and most people don’t realise.

I follow a singer on Instagram and although they live in a big home and have lovely holidays etc, their son has a job at McDonald’s.
I think they’ve got it right that they teach them to work at a normal job like most teens do.

This is hilarious - so it's the Royal Family's fault somehow? Some posters really do shoehorn this stuff into anything.

Wait long enough and someone will blame Brexit...

VB is really talented - everyone laughed when she ditched a singing career (and she can't sing) to become a high end fashion designer.

But she did it and - years later - is highly respected and successful.

It's a vanity project shored up by DB Enterprises or whatever, apparently.

Starlightstarbright1 · 28/01/2023 10:13

Nope don't have one ounce of compassion.

I feel for the children who are full time carers for parents and struggle to find time to do hw. I feel sorry for children who are hungry , living in freezing houses, children growing up in abusive households.

Him no..

sashagabadon · 28/01/2023 10:13

One of the other sons play for Brentford FC and is apparently quite good

megletthesecond · 28/01/2023 10:13

Her fashion brand doesn't make money. IIRC it can be run at a loss and used as a tax write off. Someone who knows about accounting can probably explain it.

Charlize43 · 28/01/2023 10:14

I think it's that fake it til you make it mentality and obviously he's desperate to be famous, despite having no discernible talent or appeal.

He is in the enviable position to have the finance to train as a doctor or a pilot or whatever if he so chose to. Many kids wouldn't have that opportunity.

I'm kind of annoyed that Penguin published his photography book when there are so many talented photographers on Instagram who will probably never have the opportunity to be published. Instagram followers (and other social media) can be bought from media agencies so it is very easy (if you have the money) to create the illusion that you have a large following.

SoShallINever · 28/01/2023 10:15

Lady Louise Windsor (granddaughter of the Queen) worked at a garden centre over the summer. Respect to her.

Fizbosshoes · 28/01/2023 10:15

I'm dubious how much designing she actually does. She hasn't studied fashion or art or design to any degree, I think she works with talented people and has amazing PR

DomPom47 · 28/01/2023 10:15

It is pure arrogance with zero substance. Do not feel sorry for him. Feel sorry for the people who follow him as they see him as a chef/photographer/stylist etc. as someone else said he could just own the fact that he clearly has no claim to ‘fame’ other than his parents. He has no real ‘talent’ other than the fact that some how he can get people to follow him online.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 28/01/2023 10:15

He is a trust fund baby. Has something like £100m in his own right.
He could easily spend his time doing good for others.

Is she though?
She was known as the weakest voice (as far as I remember?)
Her shop apparently runs at a loss....

Nowhereelsetogo90 · 28/01/2023 10:16

I don’t feel sorry for him in terms of material things obviously. I do in an emotional sense though - DB appears lovely and affectionate with the kids etc but has never came across as the brightest crayon in the set to me, and VB I’ve always maintained is very unwell. Brooklyn should use his financial privilege to access advice and support - he could literally do anything!

viques · 28/01/2023 10:16

PSNonsense · 28/01/2023 09:58

It runs at a loss. Madness.

As does Stella McCartney's fashion empire. It helps if your failing business is backed by someone with deep pocket and an indulgent smile!

He plays for Brentford B team and before that he played for a team in America owned by his dad. I think if he wasn’t a Beckham he would likely be playing on a Sunday morning at the local park. He is as talented at football as Brooklyn was at photography.
