Just watching it on tv.

It was my favourite year..I was 16 and having the time of my life…Brit pop, house music, clubs, boys, alcohol & cigarettes…and the rest

I miss it and me then..tiny waist, smooth skin, a bit of attitude and energy and a lust for life 😫

What were you doing in 1994?

It was a busy year for me.

I got married. DH was in the RAF and we got our first posting together weeks after we were married, then we had our honeymoon baby 9 months later.

Life was looking up that year, I think after the recession. This was the year I got my first proper job after graduating and bought our first house. Living with dh but not married at the time.

LOL, I think I've blocked 1994 out of my memory. My two DSs were 13 and 14, and BOTH had just started puberty. They'd go to take a shower, and when they unzipped their jeans, you could hear the hormones fizzing all over the house. They were both handsome young men, and the girls circled our home like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Fraught times.

I was 13 and a swot. 3 years later, I was going to bars, being promiscuous and I'd started smoking. Didn't do as well in my GCSEs as everyone had expected 😕

I was 28. Loving life. Great job/career and reading my masters, living in Nottingham. Wish I was back there again.

Funny I heard Howard Jones song today and it took me back to 6th form. I felt so happy cos I think that was about the happiest I have ever felt. I had great friends, I was working part time so had my own money and A levels were a breeze. If I was to choose a time to go back to it'd be a decade earlier, 1984.

Funny you should pick 1994 of all years. That was the year I secretly rented a house, picked up my then one year old DD and walked out on my abuser and into a new life.

I still remember quite vividly settling down on my grotty second hand furniture behind my new front door with the world locked out and feeling like a huge burden had just lifted off me.
Yes - that was a good year.

I was 7, 8 at the end of the year. My DM was pregnant with DB and I was so excited to become a big sister!

I was also 16! Oasis burst onto the scene in the word wearing eyeliner and a massive attitude.
Levellers, grunge, prodigy, drinking, fags, feeling very rebellious and grown up, huge rows with parents, the odd gig and friends 16th parties, my own 16th party, some really fun times but also GCSE’s which were the worst of times 🤣

My second child turned one that year.

I holidayed in Seattle after the death of Kurt Cobain. It felt special poignant and sad.
Also the year I saw Pink Floyd in Earls Court... what an amazing gig.

1994 was my last truly happy year, before my life would turn upside down in 1995 and never feel so innocent or carefree ever again.

Married with young children and very happy to have a Labour government who cared about what ordinary people needed for the first time for ages. Life felt very hopeful.

Culturally 1994 was a brilliant year, but personally it was the worst year of my life. I was 17, learning to drive, happy, full of possibilities and my dad died suddenly.
mum went to pieces, I had to look after my younger brother. That year totally threw a grenade into my life and I don’t think I ever fully recovered.
💐 to those who also had a shit 94
