Just watching it on tv.

It was my favourite year..I was 16 and having the time of my life…Brit pop, house music, clubs, boys, alcohol & cigarettes…and the rest

I miss it and me then..tiny waist, smooth skin, a bit of attitude and energy and a lust for life 😫

What were you doing in 1994?

I was a young teenager and my mum gave birth to my sibling. None of us knew she was pregnant till she gave birth . Strange year 🤔

girlfriend44 · 25/01/2023 22:45

I was enjoying M people.

JaceLancs · 25/01/2023 22:45

Mum to DC 1 and 3, bit of PND, battling with my weight but happily married and mostly surviving - no recollections of music, tv or other bits of life at all

LovelifeHa · 25/01/2023 22:45

I was 16/17. Funny old Year. Floppy black velvet hat, dm’s, black cherries lippie, dewberry perfume & enough eyeliner to give a panda a run for its money. 10 b&h, strongbow, strawberry 20/20 & getting into nightclubs. Loved Nirvana, oasis & some of the house music coming out then. 4nonBlondes - what’s going on is such a nostalgic song for me & takes me back to then although I think it came out before 94. Downs - had a mini breakdown, ended up on prozac, flunked my GCSE’s & then fucked off to work with racehorses. Mixed edgy Year & my coming of age really.

Oh I’m right there with you @Itwasanotherlifewasntit!!

1994 was my favourite year too! I did my GCSE’s, left school and turned 17 in the September that year, so we’re about the same age (I’m 45).

The music was the best, tv was great. Sneaking drinks of 20/20, Thunderbirds, K Cider. Clubbing despite being too young to be there, because back then you only had to be tall to look old enough to get served in the off licence and get into a club 😂

Ahhh I miss it!! 😍

MichaelFabricantWig · 25/01/2023 22:46

I graduated in 1994

Pouffeycat · 25/01/2023 22:46

3rd year at university.
Life was changing rapidly.
Split up with my first boyfriend of 3 years.
We got back together last year!

I remember that year as being very confusing. But I was mainly happy and hopeful about the future.

YourGazeHitsTheSideOfMyFace · 25/01/2023 22:47

Moved from the country to London for my first graduate job, in quite a glamorous field. Had an amazing first year there, making great friends, having a very good time, and blossoming. Worked hard, played even harder, had brilliant experiences that I look back on very fondly. Grew up, and embraced the world. Magical.

Teaseall · 25/01/2023 22:48

26 and got married in the October, it was a good year. 10 years later got divorced after the slow realisation he was an alcoholic and less than six months later he was dead.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 25/01/2023 22:48

I was 16/17 and going to raves. Getting off my tits. Getting up to endless mischief. Having an absolute ball with friends.

T'was a great time.

Fast forward to me now, 45 with a 14 year old dd who I hope does not get up to half the things I did! Different times back then. The world felt like a safer place. Probably wasn't, but it was great.

jumperqueen · 25/01/2023 22:50

I was 10, and just bought my first ever cassette - Now 27.

Tomblibooz · 25/01/2023 22:20

I was 3. Very much in a wellie boots, poofy velvet (hand-me-down) party dress and fairy wings for everyday attire phase.

I turned 32 today, with a very similar 3yo of my own in tow!

Another here who was 3!

I already had an older brother and a baby sister. We went on a big family holiday to Majorca in 1994. The 5 of us; my grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins.
Great photos and zero memories but we sure looked like we had a great time.

Pradapopsyloulou · 25/01/2023 22:51

Full time working mum in professional services with a 1 year old! Often travelling overseas. No WFH opportunities, no parental leave - had to take holidays to cover illness - luckily family support! Also hands on husband which was not normal then.

liverpoolgal82 · 25/01/2023 22:52

😂😂 good times.

browneyes77 · 25/01/2023 22:52

winterbegone · 25/01/2023 22:21

I was 14, also discovering fags, booze and boys, just 17 magazine, listening to E17, eternal and watching byker grove, shopping in miss selfridge at the weekend.

Ah more memories!

Just Seventeen, More, Smash Hits!

Etam, Mark One, Dolcis, Morgan, Kookai, Madhouse, The Sweater Shop etc

And walking around wearing Body Shop White Musk 😂

ChatSamosa · 25/01/2023 22:54

I was 16...1994-2000 were pretty brilliant.

Manchester Uni, club scene etc etc

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/01/2023 22:55

I turned 16 in 1994 too - late 1994 for me though. It was good, no doubt about it, but on balance I think I preferred 1995/6, as my friends and I then started learning to drive etc.

In 1994 I did have a boyfriend I really fancied, I remember, and used to go to this youth indie disco with friends - you were supposed to be 16 but we always went as 15 yos.

Good times!

MatildaJayne · 25/01/2023 22:55

I was 29, had just got engaged. A really happy time in my life when anything seemed possible.

Now divorced, exH had an affair and left. 3 DC, one with SN. Ah, take me back to 1994, I’ll do it all differently.

shiningstar2 · 25/01/2023 22:56

I graduated in English Literature at the age of 42 that year.

Recycledblonde · 25/01/2023 22:23

I’d had my second baby. Life was a blur.

Ditto! Two under two. Sleep a distant memory. I was happy but knackered.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 25/01/2023 22:57

I was in my final year of uni. I was having a blast enjoying the music, the student union, clubs and partying. Life was good.

GinIronic · 25/01/2023 22:57

I had four DC under 6 and working nights at A&E.

shiningstar2 · 25/01/2023 22:58

I really enjoyed the 3 year degree course. Got on with students of all ages and loved the course. Learned a lot about myself.

OldFan · 25/01/2023 22:59

How can anyone particularly rate Britpop? I mean, there's nothing wrong with some of it (though Oasis are awful) but it's not particularly remarkable.

I was into PJ Harvey but she got a bit crap after the first couple of album/EPs. I was at college (after dropping out until the Sept due to my MH and then coming back in) and in love with a married man. Had a deranged boyfriend before that who used to hold his impotent knob between the blades of a pair of scissors and stuff. Heard he got into wearing nappies later.

So many things I didn't know about life or myself. Hey ho. I don't think I've learned much in some respects until my 40s (MN has helped me a lot in consolidating what to put up with from blokes etc- I also did EMDR and the Freedom Programme.)

tiger2691 · 25/01/2023 23:00

Met a lady in March that year, she was walking a dog, we've been together ever since and last year was our sliver wedding anniversary. Loved the 90s, a decent 2nd to, and despite Thatcher, the most excellent 80s.
