She has a Gucci belt, but lives with her parents

New mum in the mums group, seems a bit up her own bum about designer labels and clothes etc. She’s often a bit sneery and definitely does that withering looking you up and down type of thing.
Her, m her Dh and kids, live with her parents in a big house, she dives their spare Land-rover car and they pay her dc’s school fees.
Aibu to think she’s got a bit of a nerve to act high and mighty when none of it is her money and the rest of us earn money to pay our own mortgages, bills and cars and therefore maybe don’t own a Gucci belt 🙈😅

Honestly im in a similar position to her, me my husband and kids live in a big house with my parents, they own the house. I know im fortunate in that respect, my husband works long hours to buy the things we have (i drive his car) and pay our share of the bills. I dont look down on anyone and dont do that look you speak of. I do find people decide they dont want to know me when they find out my living situation. It works for us, my parents are getting older and when they need more help im there. No matter anyones situation someone will always judge.

Then I guess you need to work on yourself and shouldn't let a no mark (because ultimately
that is what she shd mean to you not in a bad way but in a pragmatic way) have this effect on you. Making you feel less than. Not worth it.

It's glaring obvious you are jealous.
If you weren't so bitter you wouldn't even notice this about her.
Why do women do this to each other? It's not your business, just take people as they come

@Shallowshallowness ‘names’ mean nothing to me, I do admire style though. Most branded goods are tacky. I know a woman who bedecks herself in them and despite being quite stylish it makes her seem ridiculous. If you are happy with your own life smile serenely. I think it would be wonderful to get on so well you could live with your parents and pool your resources.

Whenever I get annoyed with people I can't really do much about I just invent a complicated backstory for them to 'explain' their behaviour. Yes, she's living in a huge house with her DPs but maybe her DF gives her a hard time about the scratches on the spare Land Rover, and maybe her DM is an undermining shrew like Amanda's mother in Motherland, and maybe her marriage is suffering because her husband can't stand her parents but they have to live there because their credit's screwed... Who knows? Giving the mums' group disparaging looks because you all wear Hush belts is maybe the only enjoyment she gets in life. Poor Gucci Belt Girl.

A Gucci belt seems to cost £300-400, so about half the price of a phone. Is that really something she brags about?

You mention her parents pay her kids’ school fees - if your children are at an independent school I doubt there are any parents at the gate who couldn’t rustle up £300 for a belt if they wanted one? Just seems a very strange thing to boast about.

perhaps she’s a lovely person (who hates your clothes) who sold her multi million dollar tech company aged 23 and is now living (with her mum) off the return on the profits.

Sounds to me like you're looking down on her for wearing her Gucci belt and living with her parents. Do you know what her bills are? Do you know about all her finances? Do you know if she pays anything at home? Maybe you're being looked down on because of all the whispering about bitching about the small details like who designed her belt!!
