New mum in the mums group, seems a bit up her own bum about designer labels and clothes etc. She’s often a bit sneery and definitely does that withering looking you up and down type of thing.
Her, m her Dh and kids, live with her parents in a big house, she dives their spare Land-rover car and they pay her dc’s school fees.
Aibu to think she’s got a bit of a nerve to act high and mighty when none of it is her money and the rest of us earn money to pay our own mortgages, bills and cars and therefore maybe don’t own a Gucci belt 🙈😅

you’re so insecure about her you started a thread about her because you can’t get her out of hour mind. Embarrassing

Ireolu · 24/01/2023 22:14

What does it matter to you?

Gucci belts are very dated imo. Dunno anyone that would wear one now.

Shallowshallowness · 24/01/2023 22:14

@gogohmm There might be, I don’t have an issue with that, have been there myself in hard times. It’s the attitude I suppose which isn’t nice 🤷🏻‍♀️

@sharperimage Eh?

This is a you thing.

She likes stuff.

I like experiences, not stuff.

She’s welcome to her stuff.

Leemoe · 24/01/2023 22:15

OP you'll be flamed but I agree with you.

I have a similar example;
DH's cousin and partner look down on us because our children don't own their own 50" TV, ipad, switch and ps5. They actually share a 32" TV and switch, have a ps4 and amazon fire tablets. Apparently this is a poor show from us.
She claims as a single parent and works 12 hours as a carer. Dh's cousin works cash in hand.

We earn over 90K between us and pay our moetgage, taxes, pensions and student debt. They have more disposable income than we do.

Life isn't fair and people are sometimes sneery arseholes. Let it go over your head.

Shallowshallowness · 24/01/2023 22:15

@Ireolu I suppose it just makes me feel a bit shit, and other people she looks at like that..I can’t speak for them, maybe they don’t care and it’s my issue 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yanbu

Bundler · 24/01/2023 22:16

Well, if this isn't a wind-up it's clearly a wind-up, right? maybe the 'attitude' is just a pre-emptive strike against a group of mums whom she imagines are probably judging their pants off every time she leaves the room: 'Ooh, why do you think she's landed back at her mum's, marriage break-up or single parent?'

DiddyHeck · 24/01/2023 22:17

I'd be very surprised if she bothers to look you up and down.

What's really eating you about her?

Is she friends with everyone else but you?

Do you make lists when you go to people's houses?

Shallowshallowness · 24/01/2023 22:17

@Keepfocused Yes definitely, I have no issue with that, my own patents have helped us out at times..it’s the attitude

Renlea · 24/01/2023 22:18

Aww, jealousy isn't the prettiest of traits in someone

Bundler · 24/01/2023 22:18

Wait, you said your DH is there too - so change the judging to: 'Do you think they lost all their money in a scam or is he a secret gambler or did they lose their house because one of them got sacked?' etc etc.

Greyhave · 24/01/2023 22:18

I think anyone who looks you up and down / throws bitchy looks your way isn’t really someone you’d want to be friends with are they?

Doesn’t matter what the reason for this is, it’s just bloody rude.

piliomachaon · 24/01/2023 22:18

Sherry you say? Quite a suitable word to use for your thread actually. What the point? You want us all to slag off this woman? Does it make you feel better?

Shallowshallowness · 24/01/2023 22:19

@Bundler Definitely not the case at all, haven’t spoken to anyone else about it, just an observation

Clymene · 24/01/2023 22:17

Do you make lists when you go to people's houses?

No, it was their DS who made the comparison when visiting our home 😊

He feels sorry for our DC, bless him.

kafkascastle · 24/01/2023 22:19

I wouldn’t know a Gucci belt if it came up and bit me.

ThreeblackCats · 24/01/2023 22:19

Gosh op, you seem to know an awful lot about someone you don’t want to be friends with.
How do you know who’s paying her child’s school fees?
How do you know she hasn’t bought their “spare” Land Rover or one identical to it?

You sound jealous and very nasty. I’m not surprised she looks at you like dirt on her shoe, you’re acting like shit!

CantStopEating79 · 24/01/2023 22:19

Don't lose sleep over it. Just worry about yourself and your family.

Shallowshallowness · 24/01/2023 22:20

@Bundler My dh?

OP posts:
sorcerersapprentice · 24/01/2023 22:20

I don't care how people look at me.
And I've got no time for people who think they're somehow superior because they have designer gear. To me, they've got more money than sense. It's a long way to fall if you put yourself that high on a pedestal.
Dismiss her as completely unimportant in your life.

Ibetyoudidntknow · 24/01/2023 22:20

I suppose it could be her big house and her mum lives with them?
