Soaking in the bath

I read on a thread here someone who said that maybe instead of having people in her home she sometimes wanted to soak in the bath for a couple of hours and it got me wondering…
I assume most people wouldn’t be able to stay in a bath for that amount of time but even half an hour to me in a bath is unthinkably long. maybe 10 minutes tops for me (yes I know that’s probably considered a waste of water but I’m curious)

AIBU or do people actually soak in the bath for ages?

This reminds me a conversation with friend who’s husband had a soak in the bath for 20mins.

She considered this an unacceptable amount of time “for a man” to be in the bath for. Apparently men should be in and out in 5 mins once they are clean.

Well obviously. Any longer than that and the willy just shrivels up and falls right off.

I do 30-45 minutes.

Agreeing with PPs that I don't understand how arms don't get cold, and don't get how you top it up. Do you pull the plug and let some drain out then pour more in? I'd end up having to virtually run a whole new bath to 'top it up' as the tap runs cold first.

Surprised with all the 2+ hour plus soakers, bath threads usually bring out the 'ewww soaking in your own germs' crew, I thought bath-takers were a rare breed.

At least an hour, have to have a book!

As others have said, I love the idea of it and try to have a long soak every now and then (bubbles, book, sometimes candles) but can never manage to stay in there for more than 20 minutes! Mainly because I get cold so quickly, even with topping up with hot water, so I'm just not a comfortable temperature 😞 I wonder if, if I could handle it being scalding hot at the beginning, it being hotter would permeate my body and keep me warm for longer 🤔 I seem to really hold the cold in me
Iykwim, but I can't cope with it too hot (probably because I'm always so bloody cold so it burns!!).

Do those of you who have long soaks have it really hot to begin with??

Two hours for me. Top ups of hot water. Listen to audiobooks or music.

It's probably the only place over the years I'm not constantly disturbed by others (children).

I love the peace.

I average an hour plus
candles, good book, you tube or just internet surfing
I try and fit in a drink or two and lots of pampering - face mask, intensive hair treatment etc
I try once a week but sometimes too busy so a fortnightly treat
If I’m in too long do need to top up the hot water though

I love a good long soak in the bath, esp after gardening. l listen to music, guided meditations, YouTube or just enjoy the peace, it's so relaxing, usually leave a conditioner on my hair and have a nice coffee and snack, glad my toilet is separate so never get disturbed from other family members.

In a previous house we only had a (huge) bath, no shower... so I began to have daily morning baths for almost 4 years...getting up half an hour early to do so... read and enjoyed a morning coffee before washing...miss it now as current house only has a small bath with shower above or a shower cubicle as options... but I bet to get up later!
