Soaking in the bath

Divorcedalongtime · 24/01/2023 16:04

I read on a thread here someone who said that maybe instead of having people in her home she sometimes wanted to soak in the bath for a couple of hours and it got me wondering…
I assume most people wouldn’t be able to stay in a bath for that amount of time but even half an hour to me in a bath is unthinkably long. maybe 10 minutes tops for me (yes I know that’s probably considered a waste of water but I’m curious)

AIBU or do people actually soak in the bath for ages?

Am in now
One hour and counting

Emmamoo89 · 24/01/2023 16:46

Love a 2 hour soak

Notellinganyone · 24/01/2023 16:46

I spend an hour most nights. It’s my way of destressing after work and a commute and I love it.

TheVanguardSix · 24/01/2023 16:49

God I love a soak but I ALWAYS nod off. Every time. I have a bath nearly every day as a sort of therapy.
But 2 hours? You’d have to dig out the hyperbaric chamber for me. 2 hours is just silly.

TheVanguardSix · 24/01/2023 16:51

Sorry. Lots of 2 hour soakers here, I’ve just realised. I come across as rude in my previous post. 🫢
How do you not fall asleep, you super soakers? 😳

Hankunamatata · 24/01/2023 16:52

Easily half and hour with a good book or phone. Not that much different to sitting in spa pool for hours

Lakeyloo · 24/01/2023 16:52

I spend ages running a bubble bath. Face pack and fluffy towel at the ready, Choose a book/podcast, light the candles, pour a large G&T. Nice body lotion ready for after......... 10 minutes in, an earphone has normally fallen into the bath or the book is soggy. Face is the colour of a beetroot and i have to get out because I feel sick/light headed and am a sweaty mess. I don't get how people can soak for so long either.

saveforthat · 24/01/2023 16:52

I only get time for this once a week but yes, at least an hour, loads of candles, rum or coffee or baileys (depending on time of day and mood), chocolate always. Something good on BBC Sounds (preferably something creepy). Bliss

4thonthe4th · 24/01/2023 16:53

God, yes!! I love an hour in a hot, bubbly bath with my book.

CrocodileShoooooesCrocodileShoes · 24/01/2023 16:53

My kids say I don't have a bath, I have an event 🤣

I never spend less than 2 hours, often I spend 4 or 5 (when I had gallstones I regularly spent 10+ hours in there as the heat was the only thing that helped the pain).

The bath is my happy place.

MuggleMe · 24/01/2023 16:55

I have about 30 min baths occasionally, the sleepy post bath lounge in bed in just a dressing gown is almost as good as the bath itself

PuppyMonkey · 24/01/2023 16:55

Another one here who likes the thought of it and I used to spend ages running the bath, nice candles, music, glass of wine… When it came to it though, I was usually bored shitless after about ten minutes and had to get out and do something more interesting.Grin

Have at least a half hour one most mornings and a long hour or two soak at the weekend. I love baths.

Soproudoflionesses · 24/01/2023 16:55

I multitask and have a sleep in the bath sometimes! Managed 45 mins on Saturday!

TattiePants · 24/01/2023 16:57

I wouldn’t even consider running a bath if I didn’t have at least 2-3 hours to spare. I have been known to spend many more hours than that.

Fentylipgloss · 24/01/2023 16:57

I spend at least 3 episodes of sex and the city in the bath with a gin and candles multiple times a week! Love it.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 24/01/2023 16:58

I could, but mostly to hide from the family that already live here 😂

Usergjdksndjsn · 24/01/2023 16:58

How do you stay comfortable? I like it but feel like I spend a lot of time readjusting and trying to get comfortable, I bought one of those pillows but it was never in the right position.

Oblomov22 · 24/01/2023 17:01

I'm ok the bath now. God I love a bath. But not that long, 20 minutes. I like it to be hot, so I can only just get in.

Fairislefandango · 24/01/2023 17:01

30 mins max for me. I don't read or watch tv or have my phone in the bath though - I'd be scared of dropping them in! I certainly couldn't fall asleep in the bath - I only ever fall asleep in bed tbh. Can't nap.

bagelbagelbagel · 24/01/2023 17:02

20 mins is my limit.

Benjispruce4 · 24/01/2023 17:02

Half an hour at the most.

Lifesyoungdream · 24/01/2023 17:02

I love getting in a bath after a long walk or bike ride especially when it’s really cold but I find after 20mins I want to get out.

ditherydotty · 24/01/2023 17:03

Wow some people manage 2 hours plus in the bath! I'd end up draining the tank with hot water top up's, I'd be like a prune too.

Half hour max for me

this perfectly sums up my bath experiences - I'd love to soak for an hour or two but the expectation never quite lives up to the reality!
