Soaking in the bath

Divorcedalongtime · 24/01/2023 16:04

I read on a thread here someone who said that maybe instead of having people in her home she sometimes wanted to soak in the bath for a couple of hours and it got me wondering…
I assume most people wouldn’t be able to stay in a bath for that amount of time but even half an hour to me in a bath is unthinkably long. maybe 10 minutes tops for me (yes I know that’s probably considered a waste of water but I’m curious)

AIBU or do people actually soak in the bath for ages?

I can easily spend 2 hours in the bath. I get a good book and can turn the hot tap on with my toe to keep it warm. It’s my most favourite thing.

crookedhoosie · 24/01/2023 16:05

I love a good long soak in the bath with a book and my music and topping up the hot water.

Penguinsista · 24/01/2023 16:05

15 minutes is long enough for me

Tecksupport · 24/01/2023 16:08

Half an hour is my perfect time

Onefootinthegroove · 24/01/2023 16:12

Agree with half an hour, any longer and I start fto feelna bit muzzy headed and dizzy.

shieldmaiden7 · 24/01/2023 16:12

I could spend hours in the bath with a good book

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 24/01/2023 16:12

If I have someone to top up my drink and a supply of hot water then my bladder is the only limiting factor.

(Yes, I get out to wee and if you don't then you should be ashamed)

PassAnotherJumper · 24/01/2023 16:13

I always think I want a long soak. I take podcast in to listen to and get the bubbles all set. Then I last about 20mins before thinking I want to get out now and get on with something Grin

Shampern · 24/01/2023 16:15

My mum used to fall asleep in the bath for an hour ot two. I shudder now at how dangerous that was.

DappledThings · 24/01/2023 16:15

Can easily do 90 minutes and more.

Nope, I don't get out to wee and I'm not in the least ashamed.

Curiosity101 · 24/01/2023 16:18

I can't last more than about 20 minutes. I love the idea of a long soak in the bath but no matter what entertainment I take in with me it's just not an enjoyable past time. None of my hobbies are compatible with being in the bath so it just feels like a massive waste of time for me and that's just stressful.

As a result I almost exclusively have showers. 5 minutes and I'm done. Suits me much better.

familyissues12345 · 24/01/2023 16:20

Baths are one of my favourite things, I'm usually out after about 30 mins though

Orange93 · 24/01/2023 16:21

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

mrsbyers · 24/01/2023 16:22

I love the idea but in reality 15 mins is my max

xogossipgirlxo · 24/01/2023 16:22

1hr for me.

yogatoga · 24/01/2023 16:26

2-3 hours topping up the hot water is bliss. I love to read the Sunday supplements or watching a movie on my laptop (well away from the water). It's even better if someone brings me hot coffee or a glass of champagne.

yahpahha · 24/01/2023 16:26

2-3 hours for me. A lovely bubble bath and my kindle 😍 we went to view a house that had a shower room (too small for a bath) and my husband said 'no yahpahha needs her bath time'

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 24/01/2023 16:28

2 hours : reading, looking at internet, watching films. Nice cold drink and topping up the bath with hot water.

Strugglingtodomybest · 24/01/2023 16:30

2 hours is easy. I read in the bath and just generally chill out. I've been known to get in and out of it whilst cooking a roast, but never for a wee 😁

Are you saying you have a wee whilst in the bath?

Same here. I'm full of cold and a bath would be bliss right now!

Crikeyalmighty · 24/01/2023 16:39

I'm a 40 mins person most evenings!!

Wednesdayschildhasstubbedhertoe · 24/01/2023 16:39

Twenty-thirty minutes is my ideal. 10-15 minutes of soaking and relaxing, the rest washing. I rarely get the chance, but if I have a night when the kids go to bed early, or a half day off in the week when they are at school, it's my favourite way to spend it.

Wednesdayschildhasstubbedhertoe · 24/01/2023 16:40

I take my phone with me, so often read mumsnet or our music or a audio book on if a bit of a Netflix show.
