To wonder why they can’t make a Covid vaccine that actually fucking works?

Everyone I’ve known who’s had it/got it has been vaccinated and/or boosted.

There’s been two years in which to create a vaccine that actually works rather than just reduces symptoms, in some cases…

You seem to think that Covid is one single static virus. It’s not.

You seem to think that the Covid vaccine is proof against all the Covid variants and sub-variants. Its not.

You seem to think that any transmission means a vaccine isn’t working, when it doesn’t.

Your logic is massively over-simplified, illustrating only your ignorance.

Im guessing your area of expertise is poetry given your rather picturesque language.

With your inane rantings about 95% of the population having caught Covid while vaccinated means the vaccine doesn’t work….you can only think that is true if you think Covid is one static virus and so on. If you knew even the basics about Covid, you’d not be trying to argue the Covid vaccine hasn’t saved lives and doesn’t work.

It’s quite funny how you cannot connect the dots that the biggest killer of 2020 is now less of a killer than the flu…and furthermore think this has nothing at all to do with being vaccinated.

Omicron is definitely milder than the original virus, my mum brought it home from hospital, she had had all 6 jabs & had a mild sore throat, a cough & the usual aches & pains,. I have only had 2 AZ jabs (long story don't ask) am ECV & had the same as my mum but took longer to test negative. There was no vaccine when Spanish flu broke out after WW1, the virus gradually went away & that is most likely what is happening with Covid for the moment, it will probably pop up again in 50 years time.

you admit the vaccines are ineffective due to the changing dynamics of the virus, INCORRECT
You are basically saying, lives have been saved from a virus which the majority of the population are now unvaccinated against. INCORRECT
vast majority of deaths are in the vaccinated
Well, yes because the vast majority are vaccinated. This is very common anti-vax propaganda for the mathematically challenged. Proportionally, more unvaccinated are dying compared to vaccinated. In fact an unvaccinated person is 11 times more likely to die than a vaccinated person per the CDC.

You’re just spouting more anti-vax rhetoric again.

The vaccine/boosters are effective for the variants of Covid they vaccinate against. Your mistake is in thinking that because people aren’t dying of these strains any more, but catching and dying from other strains then the vaccine/boosters don’t work. They do. Deaths would be much higher if we had no vaccines. The existence of vaccines do not affect the mutation rate and therefore birth of new variants and sub variants in this type of virus.

The vaccine/boosters do by varying degrees reduce transmission rates of Covid, even the variants that the vaccine/boosters dont specifically vaccinate against.

The vaccine/boosters still provide some level of partial immunity to variants other than the original Alpha variant in the vaccine and the variants like Omnicron added in the boosters, especially any of their sub-variants.

The boosters are a good idea, much like the annual flu jab, because they include vaccination against new variants.

The waning immunity is mostly an age related issue, not a vaccine related one. Thats why the boosters are being offered to older age groups. Because as you age, your immune system isn’t as good as when you are younger.

This is also why it’s for the greater good to get your boosters, because the vaccine and boosters lower transmission rates of the Covid variants most likely to cause death to the vulnerable elderly and immuno-compromised.

The fact that certain less serious Covid variants are not being aggressively fought with measures like masking, distancing, and updated boosters is because getting a less serious variant of Covid, being a bit ill and then getting over it is a valid way to naturally boost herd immunity to Covid on top of the acquired immunity from the vaccine/boosters.

@Onnabugeisha

I wouldn't bother engaging with this poster further. I think it's a returning (name-changed) PBP.

You don't know how vaccines work.

No, you don’t know how vaccines work.

Do they?

I'm just going to roll my eyes at this and ask if you know about vaccines in general, and the flu vaccine which specifically only has a limited impact most years.

whistleblown · 25/01/2023 21:39

It's pathetic isn't it? And yet people still lap it up.
