To wonder why they can’t make a Covid vaccine that actually fucking works?

Everyone I’ve known who’s had it/got it has been vaccinated and/or boosted.

There’s been two years in which to create a vaccine that actually works rather than just reduces symptoms, in some cases…

@Quarantino So vaccines aren’t meant to stop us getting the diseases for which we are being vaccinated for? That’s a new one, lol. Even for a pro vaxxer Covid Cultist this is a stretch.

smileladiesplease · 23/01/2023 19:55

Sorry to be rude but you don't know how very lucky you are that you had the vaccine before you caught covid. Dh and I caught it in November 2020. We were both ok for a week and I got better while dh rapidly went down snd down. I can't begin to explain the horror of not only feeling he might die but that he might die alone in hospital aged 54! His children and wife not allowed to visit.
Thankfully he survived but had to take early retirement.

You be bloody grateful for vaccines op.

montysma1 · 23/01/2023 19:56

Because it's a fast mutating virus and its simply no possible for a vaccine to elimate infection.

GreekDogRescue · 23/01/2023 19:56

I died from covid but I’m so glad I had the jibby jab as it could have been So Much Worse 🪦

The death rate now is way higher than the peak of covid

Citation?

If you've had 6 vaccines - I'm assuming 3 main jabs and 3 boosters - then you must be in the highly vulnerable group, meaning your immune system must struggle regardless. Therefore, the effectiveness of the vaccine may be even less effective than for your average person. It doesn't surprise me then that you were still badly affected.

Were you not eligible for the antivirals? I found that the antiviral infusion worked pretty fast once I'd had it.

Have you had an antibody test to see if you are getting any from the vaccines themselves?

I've had 6 vaccines and taken an antibody test after each one. I still have zero antibodies. Apparently its something to do with my blood cancer

People still get colds and they've had decades to create a vaccine that works. 🤷‍♀️ Guess they all need sacked innit.

Why do people talk in this style when trying to call someone thick? I am guessing that’s supposed to mimic the working class but you do realise money doesn’t buy you brains and there is just as much chance that the OP is of an affluent priveliged background and talks proper queens English

It isn't though, there are lots of vaccines which are non-sterilising. Flu, rabies, hep b, rotavirus.

Totally depends on the pathogen to which you're attempting to design a vaccine against @GreekDogRescue

I find it baffling how these fake claim are repeated over and over. You might find this helpful: theconversation.com/coronavirus-few-vaccines-prevent-infection-heres-why-thats-not-a-problem-152204

Vaccines are not a miracle cure Hmm

Tbf, and I say this as someone who's triple vaxced and proud of our contribution to the vaccine development ‐ I believe vaccines are good and we aren't all going to turn into lizards- they WERE originally touted as a miracle cure. I understand how they work but have been the teensiest bit disappointed in their short longevity and the futility of viral mutations.

OP has throw a grenade and run. I wonder why? 🤔

@Jomummy1013 absolutely this!! I’m sure my opinion will be as unpopular as yours but 2000 ‘unexplained’ deaths a week are currently being recorded, and no, before I get jumped on I’m not a conspiracy theorist and neither do I wear a tin foil hat, I am merely stating facts…… facts that aren’t as readily available or shoved down your throat as much as the death rate at the height of Covid!

But unvaccinated people don't seem to be dying of Covid either.

Well they were a miracle cure in that for most part life got back to.normal we are not in perpetual lockdown or tiers ,rule of six , fsce mask,s are we?

Themind · 23/01/2023 21:00

Better get into.your kitchen if you can do better then OP. I'm sure if you inject a bit of cough syrup and a bit of anti bacterial fluid you'll have cracked it 😬

Its not covid it doesn't count. Tough.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 23/01/2023 21:10

I don't think they ever claimed it would stop you getting it? I had it for the first time after being triple jabbed but in spite of being 'quite old' and very overweight, I wasn't particularly unwell. I think it would have been a different story pre vaccination ( when I was protected by lockdown and not mixing).

rockly · 23/01/2023 21:14

They didn't say that at the beginning though did they

they WERE originally touted as a miracle cure.

the transmission reduction proven by statistics is a baseless argument and ridiculous.

Round and round we go!

In trials, effectiveness was ~95% - in some substudies effectiveness was 100%.

Once vaccines were rolled out, population level data allowed onward transmission to be studied (impossible to do in trials - one reason being the very high effectivness). In these datasets, vaccination substantially reduced both transmission (don't have COVID, can't pass it on) and onward transmission (vaccinated people with breakthrough infection less likely to transmit).

Unfortunately, these pretty amazing stats were quickly replaced with much lower figures, due to the rapid mutation of the virus & waning immnity post vaccination & infection.

These claims were not lies or untrue, they were based on the available evidence at the time.

This has been posted over and over again, but the same old usernames keep repeating it....

Florenz · 23/01/2023 21:15

There's no incentive for Big Pharma to create vaccines that work 100%, there's a lot more money in endless "new and improved" vaccines that slightly reduce the symptoms that they can sell to people/governments every year.
