And I bloody love the horrified reactions more than the delighted ones:

What???
Oh my god that's a mouthful isn't it?
Is that a name? Oh, I'd call him 'xxx'

It's not even that out there, I think people are just rude, but it cracks me up

OP posts:

If only there was a section on here to discuss everything regarding baby names.

Oh wait.......

BigMandysBookClub · 22/01/2023 23:06

Well OP, if you name your baby Vladimir Putin what did you expect?

Silvercatowner · 22/01/2023 23:06

The poor kid.

GoAgainstNicki · 22/01/2023 23:06

Honper · 22/01/2023 22:51

We're already bloody disappointed.

Just tell us the goddamn name.

🤣

BitOutOfPractice · 22/01/2023 23:06

Don’t care about the name but what on earth do you think you’ve put on this thread that is so identifiable?

EarthPunchingBack · 22/01/2023 23:07

@Cormakorma couldn’t agree more. Especially the ludicrous spellings children are saddled with now. “Oh look at me with my out there kids’ names!” 🙄

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 22/01/2023 23:07

Taran is great. Is the r rolled and is it male or female, seems to me to fit both.

Reugny · 22/01/2023 23:07

Montgomery?

Ernest?

Stanley?

Rudolph?

whatwouldAnnaDelveydo · 22/01/2023 23:08

I always thought my DC would have names with "character". Not boring popular names. Then when I was pregnant I realised it was not about ME, and cool and cultured I am to have chosen such interesting names.

It's about my DC. So they have sensible names, and they're free to change it to whatever crazy thing they want if they are that way inclined. It's their names, not mine.

Bayleaf25 · 22/01/2023 23:08

Isn’t every name technically a marmite name?

MrsMitford3 · 22/01/2023 23:08

Agree pointless if you won't post name on an anonymous thread

Bunce1 · 22/01/2023 23:08

what at attention seeking thread.

are you one of those people who write cryptic messages like- “worst day of my life today. Thank god for hubby” the get loads of responses and you don’t say what it is until a mutual friend says- “is this about you missing your Zumba class this morning and your husband made you a bacon bap?!”

GoAgainstNicki · 22/01/2023 23:09

I’m sure I’ll sound dumb but what even is a marmite name?

LoveReallyHurtsWithoutLube · 22/01/2023 23:09

Op has clearly misplaced their flashing neon “look at me!” sign this evening.

😂😂😂 I laughed out loud

Butchyrestingface · 22/01/2023 23:09

Why do you need to know the name? It's not a post about whether or not we were unreasonable to choose the name. Its about where iabu to find it amusing when people are confused/rude 🤷🏼‍♀️

How can anyone possibly comment on whether you're unreasonable to find it amusing when we don't know what the name IS?

Are you feeling particularly starved for attention tonight or something? Could you not just start a parking thread (with diagrams)? That usually draws the punters like flies to shit.

TheOriginalEmu · 22/01/2023 22:35

I’m willing to name my kids if OP isn’t 😂😂

Medi
Taran
Awel
Seren
Macsen

do your worst….

These are all so gorgeous!

Anonymouseposter · 22/01/2023 23:13

It’s not you that has to live with the name that is disliked by a lot of people. YABU

TiredyMcTired · 22/01/2023 23:14

OP, if you’ve been around Mumsnet for any period of time you should know you can’t start a thread like this and not give the name.

Especially in AIBU.

OP = I’ve given my baby an unusual name and people react to it

Mumsnet = we need to know the name so we can tell you if you’re BU

OP = not saying

Mumsnet = 🙄

Just found a thread from 2013 where an OP asked this exact same question. A name that you either love or hate. That should have been obvious but it clearly went over my head haha.

<don’t mind me I’m just answering my own question>

Shoogly · 22/01/2023 23:16

Apart from the fact it's an entirely pointless thread how on earth is it AIBU? AIBU for naming my child? No.

Bayleaf25 · 22/01/2023 23:17

Is it Colin?

BertaHoon · 22/01/2023 23:18

Is it Nevaeh?

Just so you can launch into it's hea...

Spelt backwards, we know 🙄

Viviennemary · 22/01/2023 23:18

It is a ridiculous name for a child. It's about time there was a government approved list of names.

quietnightmare · 22/01/2023 23:18
