The sense of hope and optimism. That and hair mascara of course! 😂

Bowbellsx · 19/01/2023 23:06

Cadbury’s spiras

Mybumlooksbig · 19/01/2023 23:07

Going out when no one had mobile phones.
Pic n Mix.
Spice Girls.
Video Shop.

Adelesky · 19/01/2023 23:07

No mobiles. Good music. Optimism re: govt & future for next generations. TV that everyone watched together! Being 9 stone!

Bemyclementine · 19/01/2023 23:08

My youth. Great times. Smoking. 🤣

Howlongwillthistake · 19/01/2023 23:08

Half a lager and lime for 75p

TinaYouFatLard · 19/01/2023 23:09

Everything.

BamBamBilla · 19/01/2023 23:09

Mitsubishis

Conkered · 19/01/2023 23:11

The thought that things will get better in the future! (Sorry)

UnbearableLoss · 19/01/2023 23:11

No internet or the internet as it was then.

I feel like so much is unappreciated now because of internet/streaming/online shopping.

Andrelaxzzz · 19/01/2023 23:13

Hedonism
A sense of positivity once Labour got in.
Smoking in the pub.
Dancing in fields
Going on holiday with a £130 for 2 weeks to pay for accommodation, food and booze (sleeping on the beach and on roof tops, coming back tanned, skinny and exhausted but so many fun memories).

WishIdDoneItYearsAgo · 19/01/2023 23:14

Mistakenly thinking we lived in a progressive society with a progressive government. The optimism! The night Blair won his first term it all felt so exciting and hopeful. The idea that the country would lurch to the right and vote to leave the EU would have seemed like a dystopian nightmare. We all sang ‘Things Can Only Get Better!’ Oh how naive we were! 😔

ItisallPooh · 19/01/2023 23:14

My flat stomach 🤣
My parents, my grandparents,
Cars that I could look under a bonnet and actually tinker with. Now everything is run by a computer in the car and I have to take it to the garage. I can't just tinker with it...although I'm guessing of my dad was still around he would still be trying to do it himself.

YourGazeHitsTheSideOfMyFace · 19/01/2023 23:14

My roaring twenties 😁

I had a very good time in London in my first graduate jobs. It was a great time to be there, and to be young.

UnbearableLoss · 19/01/2023 23:14

Ahhhh going to blockbusters with your mum and dad and picking a film instead of mindlessly scrolling through Netflix and then falling asleep at 2am as your nightly routine is binging on tv.

Being old enough to walk to woolies with my mates but young enough to want to spend my money on stickers.

TooHotToRamble · 19/01/2023 23:14

Raving.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/01/2023 23:15

My figure

HashBrownandBeans · 19/01/2023 23:15

All of it! What a time to be a teenager it was.

Warehouse raves, shopping in Camden for vintage clothes, young love, simple makeup, thin eyebrows, good friends, awesome music(indie, Brit pop, house, garage, jungle - I loved it all).

CampervanKween · 19/01/2023 23:15

Absolutely everything.

What a wonderful time it was to be young.

DiastasisRectiSucks · 19/01/2023 23:16

The wild optimism. Feeling like times were good and getting better and society was moving in the right direction 😅
just everything feeling upbeat and hopeful.

breadwidow · 19/01/2023 23:17

A decent govt

NoWordForFluffy · 19/01/2023 23:17

TinaYouFatLard · 19/01/2023 23:09

Everything.

I was coming to say this. I fucking miss the 90s!

UnbearableLoss · 19/01/2023 23:18

Gosh the nostalgia this thread is giving me.

headache · 19/01/2023 23:21

No social media going out and talking to people not all the pouting insta photos every 5 minutes
Raving and getting drunk and waking up without a hangover that lasts 2 days
A body that works
Great music

LampLamp · 19/01/2023 23:23

Impulse o2.

The Clothes Show.
Optimism.
Music uniting people in a completely different way.
Topshop as it was before it went global.
Woolies.
Lack of mobile phones.
