To think the misogyny directed at Madonna is grim

Obviously Piers Morgan is a monumental arse but his attitude is typical of the misogynistic abuse directed at Madonna. She’s doing a world tour of her 40 years of greatest hits. Mick Jagger, Elton John etc are all also still touring into their 70’s and 80’s and that’s fine as they are ‘legends’ but Madonna, arguably one of greatest female artists ever is tragic and gets loads of abuse for how she dresses, what she wears, how much Botox she has, etc etc.

Total and utter misogyny.

She should fuck off and do one. But I was trying not to be crude. 🤣

Why? Because she's "getting on a bit?"
What age should we start doing stuff like staying in with cocoa and knitted shawls then?

GyozaGuiting · 18/01/2023 22:54

Men with loads of plastic surgery at 64 look ridiculous as well. I think celebrities in general are under a lot of pressure to stay young looking. I think it would have been great for Madonna to look her age and put 2 fingers up to celeb culture.

catfunk · 18/01/2023 22:54

Did you miss the absolute ripping that Elton John got when he performed from his garden during the pandemic because he sounded drunk or like he'd had a stroke ?
That was completely age related.

catfunk · 18/01/2023 22:57

I personally find any woman who behaves and dresses like that uncomfortable to watch. Nothing to do with age, my 21 y/o assistant at work is also like that and it reeks of insecurity and internalised misogyny and makes me feel very sad.

I think it would have been great too, I'm not a fan of the plastic look.
However - she's not me.
It's her choice, just like it's mine to be completely natural.
Good for her - can't be doing with the nasty comments thinking they're better just because they think differently
Each to their own.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2023 23:01

YANBU @Letshaveablackcelebration2022. Piers Morgan is a much more grotesque, clichéd character than the women those he criticises.

Madonna is an icon.🤩 Piers is a weasely wee talentless cunt.🙄

I think Dolly can do whatever she wants because she is a genius. Funny and kind but quite subversive. She plays with stereotypes and brings you along with her.

I have so much respect for her.

Me too. I love Dolly. Massive wit and a great philanthropist as well as a talented musician. She’s so good at taking the piss out of herself too.

ssd · 18/01/2023 23:15

She's ruined herself and disappeared up her own arse. Too many years if people bowing and scraping to her. Thats not misogyny or ageism or any other fancy dan expressions. Thats just calling it as it is. If course she can do whatever she wants, plastic surgery galore, tits out, arse out, whatever, but we can say she looks a fucking state if we want too.

SleepingStandingUp · 18/01/2023 23:23

Letshaveablackcelebration2022 · 18/01/2023 20:13

@Devoutspoken eh? Am using them as a comparison. Older men touring = ok, older women = tragic and embarrassing apparently. Double standards

Is it not her attempts to look like she's younger than her daughter that get the most criticism? Not the fact she's daring to still work at 64?

Americano75 · 18/01/2023 23:29

I'm old enough to remember when Morgan was nothing but a shitty tabloid showbiz columnist and he hated her guts back then. She could cure cancer and he'd still bitch at her for taking too long.

middleager · 18/01/2023 23:48

Letshaveablackcelebration2022 · 18/01/2023 20:58

@ArseInTheDogBowl but again you are policing what she does. If it’s not illegal then she can do what she likes- I went to the blonde ambition tour in 1991 where she simulated an orgasm on a bed to Like a Virgin in front of about 100k people in Wembley stadium. She’s always done this sort of stuff and just because she’s over 60 doesn’t mean she has to stop now and start knitting

It was boring then and boring now. Nothing to do with her age or sex. If a male (whatever age) were doing this, I'd switch off too.

I find it depressing the number of female artists who feel the need to wear next to nothing and/or gyrate on stage, because men are not required to do that are they?

I admire females who don't bow to that misogyny, like Patti Smith, Chrissie Hynde, Carole King etc.

Nanny0gg · 18/01/2023 23:52

Letshaveablackcelebration2022 · 18/01/2023 20:18

Jesus, the absolute state of some of the comments on here too. So fucking what if she wants to get her tits out on stage or flash her bottom. Who says she can’t?

Me.

I don't want to see that whoever they are, whatever age they are or whatever sex they are.

In that time I have watched Piers slide further and further into obscurity, leaving nothing but a trail of corruption and misogyny.

Madonna blazed a creative trail. She can age however she wants.Grin Piers Morgan is an untrustworthy, cringey, corrupt, damaging parasite with an over developed sense of victimhood whose time is up.

No more free rides on the back of hating women.Hmm

Not only on social media 'silly'.

Judgyjudgy · 19/01/2023 00:28

I think you're BU to even give that cretin (PM) any publicity

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/01/2023 00:41

Ah come on now @Nanny0gg, it's been nearly 40 years since Madonna came on the scene. Object to nudity and shock?

Don't click on a Madonna story.

Josette77 · 19/01/2023 00:47

I saw a post of hers flashing her boobs and making out with some young person while out with her 17 yr old son.

If she was a man, her overly sexualized behaviour in front of her minor children would be crucified! Can you imagine a man flashing in front of his teen daughter and partying with her friends getting drunk and making out??? It would be all over the media.

I was the biggest Madonna fan. She was my biggest influence as a kid. Fearless and unapologetic.

I don't know who this person is anymore.

BearingFalseWitness · 19/01/2023 00:54

I can’t say I’ve ever been a big Madonna fan as she never seemed original. Her obsession with staying in the limelight and doing as the Zoomers do I find cringe. I don’t think that’s misogyny, I think it’s more the not unusual fact that she is very narcissistic. People who stay in the spotlight through self-promotion generally are, it’s par for the course.

There are plenty of male and female artists in their 60s, 70s and above who are still performing but aren’t usually as desperate at trying to get generation TikTok to pay attention to them. But it’s a free country, if that’s how she wants to live her life she can. I still think it’s cringe.

Piers Morgan is just a twat.

comfyshoes2022 · 19/01/2023 01:34

Habreathmint · 18/01/2023 21:36

I have to add that Piers Morgan is a hateful twat. The thing about Madonna is how she's gone from being disciplined and controlled to being sloppy and increasingly detached from reality. I'm fairly sure drugs and/or alcohol must be involved. It's a shame she'll be remembered for making a twat of herself and looking weird. Like Michael Jackson. She could barely stand up for her last 'tour'. I dread to think what the next one will be like.

I agree. There are worrying signs of drug abuse.

With regards to her plastic surgery: she is free to do what she wants, of course. But it also gives the impression of someone who is hurting and engaging in self-destructive behaviour. As a long-time fan, the past few years make me sad and concerned for her.

GerronBuzanDoThaWomwok · 19/01/2023 01:41

She's common.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/01/2023 01:49

She is anything but common.🤣🤣🤣

Eyerollcentral · 19/01/2023 02:15

Letshaveablackcelebration2022 · 18/01/2023 20:22

@SimonRiley She can do what she wants with her face, she can filter her photos and she can most certainly hang out with her daughter. It’s the double standards she is judged by that make me want to vomit.

who the fuck is anyone to tell her how to age?

WHAT double standards though? What male performer of her vintage is behaving in the same way regardless of sex? Simon Cowell is the only high profile man I can think of who has ruined his face through the same vanity and he has been relentlessly mocked for it. Madonna’s vitality was always her greatest asset. Behind the puffed up face and tits hoisted to her chin her eyes seem dead. I am a lifelong Madonna fan, she is the absolute Queen of Pop, but I saw her in concert a few years ago and tbh it was a damp squib. She hasn’t the voice to perform any more and she hasn’t got that je ne sais quoi that makes a performer worth seeing any more. I think she cuts a sad figure now and it’s not misogyny, it’s that she doesn’t believe what she is doing any more. It’s cynical and increasingly desperate.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/01/2023 02:23

Chibbers · 18/01/2023 22:48

@Mumtobabyhavoc don't worry yourself, none of my money will be spent on a ticket for that.
@RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella Call me shallow all you like, but you can't escape the truth.

Your opinion does not equal truth. Get over yourself.

ConcordeOoter · 19/01/2023 02:26

Welp I now have some sad and unsavoury mental imagery of Simon Cowell to try and forget, thanks for that lol
