Obviously Piers Morgan is a monumental arse but his attitude is typical of the misogynistic abuse directed at Madonna. She’s doing a world tour of her 40 years of greatest hits. Mick Jagger, Elton John etc are all also still touring into their 70’s and 80’s and that’s fine as they are ‘legends’ but Madonna, arguably one of greatest female artists ever is tragic and gets loads of abuse for how she dresses, what she wears, how much Botox she has, etc etc.

Total and utter misogyny.

Really it's about Piers Morgan's need to observe it publicly.

Personally I think as they age people should comport themselves with a bit of bloody dignity and we all know it's weird, gross, cringy, however you describe it when aging people stray very far from that.

I think she's revolting and pathetic. She hasn't produced any decent music for 20 years. Her behaviour is deranged and creepy. It's got nothing to do with her age or sex, she's just shite and lost the plot. If Jagger etc acted like her I'd feel sick too. The big difference with her and Elton John etc is that they are genuinely talented performers with fans that want to hear the music. Madonna has always been style over substance and resorts to getting her tits and arse out at any opportunity to distract from her lack of talent. Madonna can do what she wants. I admire her accomplishments, career and her attitude.

To achieve the level of success she has in the male dominated, sexist and cut throat music industry is extraordinary. Nobody can take that from her, she has earned her place in entertainment history.

And she isn’t a fool. She knows that by putting content about herself in the public domain, she invites commentary and discussion - good and bad.

Madonna has always been her own driver of publicity and public engagement to help sell her music/films. She is doing as she always has done, now it’s on instagram rather than in a glossy coffee table book for example.

A world tour is a hard sell right now. Many artists are struggling with the costs of touring when balanced against falling ticket sales. Madonna knows pictures of herself in twinsets and pearls are not going to get the column inches, media commentary and social media traction she will need to help shift tickets.

She knows exactly what she is doing. Always has done.

It is interesting that women getting their breasts out, gyrating, getting their bum out, exposing themselves is seen as empowerment and 'pushing boundaries'

To be fair, this is not new. Her Sex book caused absolute outrage, people acted like it was literal hardcore porn. The Like a Prayer video was condemned by the Vatican (it is incredibly tame, and actually quite pro-Christian). Outraging people for attention is what she has based her whole career on, it’s no like she has no idea she is having this effect on people. She isn’t stupid.

If she wanted to sit at home with her knitting I’m sure she would do, but she did that for a few years when married to Guy Ritchie and didn’t seem to enjoy it much.

It isn't misogynistic. There isn't a valid comparator that I can think of as I'm not aware of a male artist behaving in the way she does. If there were, I'm sure people would also be cringing at his desperate need for sexual validation.
