Obviously Piers Morgan is a monumental arse but his attitude is typical of the misogynistic abuse directed at Madonna. She’s doing a world tour of her 40 years of greatest hits. Mick Jagger, Elton John etc are all also still touring into their 70’s and 80’s and that’s fine as they are ‘legends’ but Madonna, arguably one of greatest female artists ever is tragic and gets loads of abuse for how she dresses, what she wears, how much Botox she has, etc etc.

Total and utter misogyny.

Please do tell us the rules for ‘normal female ageing’ @ReamsOfCheese as you clearly don’t believe adult women should have the autonomy to decide for ourselves

I can't stand her because she has a thin little voice and always has had.

She co-writes some decent songs but almost anyone else could sing them better.

It isn't misogyny to think she's not the queen of pop or even a lady in waiting. So many more with better voices.

I totally ignore Piers. But re Madonna, she has always been vile. Back years ago, she took advantage of a very young teen boy and had sex with him. She was much older. When I found this out, I had no respect for her. Go read her account of it. It is child abuse in my opinion and if she weren’t famous, she wouldn’t have gotten away with it.

I agree. They also have managed to diversify their career (acting, business ventures) as they grew older and I think they have kept the public's affection and respect and always come across as strong, smart, funny women.

I used to be a huge Madonna fan but she lost me a couple of decades ago because she just started to basically try too hard and became a bit of a joke.

Of course ageism and misogyny play a part in the criticism that she gets but I don't think she has done herself any favour. Trying to compete with 20 year old pop stars is never going to work.

To me she used to be so beautiful and unique and she probably would look a thousand time better if she had not gone for extreme plastic surgery and ridiculous outfits and just stayed more natural.

I’m not sure actually, I don’t see the likes of jagger doing what Madonna does. The plastic surgery, the heavily filtered photos to make her look forty years younger and 3 stone lighter , the heavily sexualised Images. Although she’s always making out she has young boyfriends in their 20s and jagger does have some previous for that.

I follow Madonna on insta and honestly some of the shit she pulls is really quite odd.

it’s all image though, from what I understand she goes home to bed alone. But she’s trying harder and harder to stay relevant and to shock and it now all feels a little disturbing as opposed to challenging.
