To think stating your pronouns is redundant?

I’m referring to email signatures. When for example you’re female with an obvious feminine name. It seems a bit performative in my opinion.

If however your name is Michelle and you state in your signature he/him then great thanks for letting me know so I can refer to you correctly without offensive as I would have just assumed she/her.

@lifeturnsonadime sorry I missed the point there - your post I was referring to was the violence one. I never said it was anything like violence. I said it was arrogant.

This is the issue with this whole argument. It's one oe the other, this side or the other, you must have one view or the other. Its impossible to be grey.

Of course it is possible to have a different view and be polite about it.

I'm just genuinely curious why you would spend so much time on a thread if you really don't care much about pronouns. Seems odd.

Perhaps you could re read the thread and read some of the things said to me by PPs

I can spend as much time on a thread as I like. You challenging me on a total of two threads now in what appears to be a personal attack and/or an attempt to chase anyone who doesnr follow the narrative of the thread doesnt change that I'm afraid.

findmybalance · 19/01/2023 17:46

Ps @lifeturnsonadime , I didnt say I didnt care. I care very much about the rights of people to use their pronouns if thats whar they choose

Its funny we use words like demanding when it's this side of.the debate. Creates a bias.

As I said I'm not a fan of pronouns for a number of reasons. None of them because I think I'm too wonderful to do as other people ask.

Really? Too wonderful? Reallly? D;you want to try and phrase your argument in an adult manner? No problem if not, your choice obviously.

You have posted things on 2 different thread that I am interested in and have asked questions about.

I have been polite.

Quite how you can perceive an attack, let alone a personal one is bizarre.

Again, perhaps you could read through Pps sentiments to me earlier in this thread - IQ of a potato, if I remember rightly, before I'd said anything at all, and remind me that I'm the childish one.

Well done on depriving a charity due to your own prejudice.

LOL a) all of us have the right to deprive anyone except the government of our OWN money for any reason.
b) it's not prejudice. Prejudice is when you have made a judgement about something without knowing the arguments for and against. FOJN knows the arguments for and against and has decided she's against. That doesn't mean she's prejudiced, it means she doesn't agree with you and that you are prejudiced because you have decided that she's obviously not informed about the arguments. Try to be a little more open-minded and less prejudiced.

Not sure how that relates to my argument.

You were referring to me not expressing my arguments to Pp in a grown up manner, which was retaliation to Pps tones which were similar or not worse.

If it ever gets suggested at my work that i should state pronouns, i plan to say "I've not ready to", in a very closed way that makes clear I mustn't be pushed further on this.

I'm not ready to because its fucking stupid and jeopardises my ability to hide being an initial in an email signature working with people in regions where women are not respected.

Like Scotland?

Sorry I'll get my coat.

At my very woke college, we were required to sate our pronouns anytime we met a new staff member/Visitor. One student got in trouble for refusing to do this. For what’s it’s worth I don’t agree with pronouns but went along with it, because I didn’t want to been seen as “problematic” with my highly woke peers.

Could you say you’re undecided as to what your pronouns are? That’s what I would do in that situation but then I am older and don’t care about being seen as problematic with my woke peers (well, if I had woke peers which I don’t).
