For me it’s Alan Rickman (who I absolutely love in everything else) as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility. He came across so unbelievably creepy and repulsive and not the gallant kind soul he is in the book.

Daniel Craig in that Onion thing on Netflix at the moment. I couldn't watch it. His dreadful acting and even worse southern American accent

Came on to say the same about the first one (Knives Out). DC is woefully miscast, and that accent!

JackyinaTracky · 06/01/2023 22:35

Andie Macdowell in 4 weddings.
Ruined it.

Giggorata · 06/01/2023 22:37

Ian McShane as Merriman in the Dark is Rising.
The whole film was a dreadful travesty, but it should have been Christopher Lee, when he was still with us.
Nothing wrong with Ian McShane but he was just so wrong for that part.

If/when they remake a decent version, someone like Charles Dance…

SausagePourHomme · 06/01/2023 22:37

leonardo di caprio in everything. always just playing himself.

rookiemere · 06/01/2023 22:40

Kenneth Branagh as Poirot.

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/01/2023 22:41

Emma Watson as Pauline Fossil in the TV adaptation of Ballet Shoes. Pauline is supposed to be very pretty with naturally white blonde hair. Watson was average looking with obviously bleached hair.

Emma Watson in The Bling Ring, which is a film I love, apart from her looking too old for the part and not managing the accent.

Also, her acting is dreadful.

Clawdy · 06/01/2023 22:29

Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple. Nooooo!!

@Clawdy she is my favourite miss marple, I don't watch the episodes with the other leads 😂

frostyfours · 06/01/2023 22:46

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/01/2023 22:20

Kristen Stewart cast as anything other than 3rd plank of wood on the left or the Before pic in a Sennakot advert.

Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen in the rehashing boring bits of Star Wars.

Tom Cruise in The Mummy.

Russell Crowe playing Ray Winstone in The Mummy.

Just woke my husband up laughing at this 😂

frostyfours · 06/01/2023 22:47

Keira knightly in anything. Can't watch.

stonebrambleboy · 06/01/2023 22:48

Jonathan Rhys thingy who played Henry VIII in The Tudors, just wrong.

YellowLemonshade · 06/01/2023 22:50

Armie Hammer and Lily James as Maxim and the 2nd Mrs de Winter in the remake of 'Rebecca' Both awful. Badly cast and dreadful acting, especially her.
Kristin Scott Thomas was Ok as Mrs Danvers though.

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 06/01/2023 22:51

EsmeShelby · 06/01/2023 21:46

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher. Reacher is 6.5 Cruise is 5.8

This was what I was going to say. Ridiculous casting.

aonbharr · 06/01/2023 22:52

Kevin Costner in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, complete with an American accent and well just not manly or attractive.

Lovetok · 06/01/2023 22:53

Don Cheadle in everything I’ve ever seen him in.

NearlyMidnight · 06/01/2023 22:56

Agree with most of these - especially Tom Cruise as Reacher. Just wrong. Not just his height or his colouring, (JR being tawny blond), but his manner. JR comes across in the books as easy going, slightly scruffy, slow moving, - until he isn't. He's an imposing, watchful presence. H's big and moves easily. TC was quick, tense, sharp, polished, shiny, light, "pretty". All wrong!

LolaSparkle · 06/01/2023 22:56

Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast - her acting and singing is dreadful

Ewan McGregor as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast - the French accent makes me want to die inside.

As a side note, the guy that played the beast was better looking as the beast 🤣🤣

Michael Gamdon as Dumbledore ... terrible choice!

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watsons acting got worse as the HP films progressed!

Will smith as the genie in Aladdin ... hated it!

JaneJeffer · 06/01/2023 22:57

Susannah Harker as Jane Bennet

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 06/01/2023 22:58

Claire Danes in Stardust, can only see her as Carrie in Homeland

LolaSparkle · 06/01/2023 22:58

Also ... Jack Black in anything .... especially The Holiday!

And on The Holiday ... Cameron Diaz - she only has one acting style and acts the same in every movie!

Cranberrystreet · 06/01/2023 22:58

Russell Crowe in A Good Year (his English accent is dreadful).

And another vote for Nicolas Cage being totally miscast as Captain Corelli!

But I love Rene Zellweger as Bridget Jones! And Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall!

FrostieBoabby · 06/01/2023 23:00

Simon Barlow in Cornation Street, still not convinced he's Peter's offspring.

(Disclaimer - yes I know it's a fictional programme 😀 )

sproutsandparsnips · 06/01/2023 23:01

Clawdy · 06/01/2023 22:29

Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple. Nooooo!!

Agree!
And Peter Ustinov as Poirot.
Joan Hickson and David Suchet respectively every time for me!

FrostieBoabby · 06/01/2023 23:02

aonbharr · 06/01/2023 22:52

Kevin Costner in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, complete with an American accent and well just not manly or attractive.

Argh, this is one of my favourites 😍

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 06/01/2023 23:02

The two main human characters in Peter Rabbit and the voice of Peter Rabbit James bloody Cordon, cant watch it or hear it

NearlyMidnight · 06/01/2023 23:02

Nastassja Kinski in Tess. Tess Durbeyfiled was a simple farm girl. Pretty, yes, but poor. NK was stunningly beautiful - and quite definitely not poor. It was along time ago that I saw it but I just remember thinking Tess was pathetic and not really believable at all.
