Right hand Wedding ring finger bruise

Would you be worried about a bruise on a ring hand wedding ring finger? My friend is in a long distance relationship with a guy and she’s upset over a bruise on his left hand wedding ring. She hasn’t confronted him about it but says it’s on the opposite hand to what British people wear.

Shes stayed at his house and been seeing him for a while. Bit too early to meet his family.

Any thoughts? He’s Swedish.

Right hand*.!!!! It’s on the opposite hand. it is where a ring would be and is a clear bruise where the ring would be and is just on the palm.

What did he say about it when they asked?

Someone has hit him in the palm and bruised him?

I’ve never in my life see a ring leave a bruise. This is really strange.

Also pretty sure the ring finger in Sweden isn’t typically the right hand anyway.

No it’s not but some people may do it I guess. I know some men put it on the opposite hand before they get married.

she has a few kids and known him for a while, so been busy.

Eh?

oioimatey · 03/01/2023 20:24

What's the issue here? That he wears his wedding ring on his right hand, or that he has a bruise? I'm afraid I'm not following your AIBU

ShinyMe · 03/01/2023 20:24

Am I missing something? What is she worried about?

GinoVino · 03/01/2023 20:25

I've worn my wedding ring for over 10 years. I've never had a bruise there. Do you mean bruise or an indentation?

You're both jumping to massive conclusions by the sounds of it to be honest.

Notimeforaname · 03/01/2023 20:25

I cant really figure this out ? He wears his ring on his right hand but has a bruise on his left, what do you think this means? I'm lost

Justcallmebebes · 03/01/2023 20:26

He has a bruise on his right hand ring finger which means he could be secretly married? Is that it?

WorriedWarrier · 03/01/2023 20:26

She’s in a long term relationship and thinks he could be wearing a wedding ring. He works out so could have got a bruise from bench press?

she’s known him for a while but only recently got into a relationship with him.

A quick search indicates that it has been a Swedish tradition to wear wedding rings on the right hand. Not certain how common that is today, however.

Rings don't usually leave a bruise, though, do they? A tan line I'd understand...

creamcoffee · 03/01/2023 20:26

he has a bruise on the finger where a wedding band would be?

she needs to ask him

Yes…. Or engaged I guess. Shes been to his house and no one else lives there for sure

Just ask him. Communication works wonders when you actually communicate.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/01/2023 20:27

My Swedish friend has his Wedding ring on his left hand, I think that is normal for Sweden , as here.
If your friend is worried he may be married, then a bruise hardly seems a likely indicator !

She’s been asking in the group chat as she saw it when she was leaving for the airport and caught a bit of guard…. Didn’t want to appear crazy or whatever

Ok thanks. She’s now saying she was looking at his hand and looks like he has had a finger on it…. But mind may be playing tricks

Did you tell her you'd ask on mumsnet for her?

GinoVino · 03/01/2023 20:31

I presume he's got four fingers and a thumb on his hand surely?

unfortunateevents · 03/01/2023 20:36

OP, you're not making a great deal of sense. Why would a ring of any kind leave a bruise on someone's palm?

Not on the palm, the palm side of the finger.
