My 15 year old is revising.

My 10 year old is vacuuming her bedroom.

My 9 year old is making New Years Day cards for the neighbours. (Don't ask!)

I'm sat on the sofa eating custard and cake. 😁

DD13 has had a lazy morning and is now tidying her room. DH and I have packed Christmas away, cleaned the house and changed the beds ready for a fresh start! We are now about to dive in the shower and get sorted for later. We have some family around for NYE so some prep to do for that. We will squeeze in some Happy Valley if we get time too.

Timeturnerplease · 31/12/2022 12:12

4yo DD is watching a film with DH/jumping up and down on his stomach (only just turned 4 so can’t sit through a film yet loves to watch them 🤦🏻‍♀️).

1.5yo DD is upstairs napping.

I’m cleaning the kitchen while dreamily reading these posts and imagining a time when we too will be in our pjs while our children entertain themselves.

I am also reading these for evidence that having children does get easier with time (in some ways anyhow)!!

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 31/12/2022 13:14

DD(13) is watching TV with 2 of the 3 cats asleep on her knee.

I'm scrolling MN whilst reading this months good food magazine with Cat 3 sleeping next to me.

DH is in the loft replacing the insulation and boarding it out. Don't ask - it's his latest project. He always has to have some kind of project on the go.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 31/12/2022 13:14

Nothing. Kids are with exh and I’m having breakfast

catmademedoit · 31/12/2022 13:18

I hope nothing as I'm in town and live alone

Oh actually cat will be sat on every surface she can find .. leaving as much fluff as she can shed and will jump up when she hears the car outside to gaze longing at her food bowl as if I've been gone 6 weeks

daffodilandtulip · 31/12/2022 13:18

When you posted, mine were still asleep. We have just had bacon butties and I'm staring at the tree with hate. I want to clean and tidy but I know I'll be miserable once it's gone. And the kids like the twinkle for New Years Eve.

needingafairygodmother · 31/12/2022 13:18

I've dropped DC off to grandparents who are giving me some much needed house cleaning time!

So far have blitzed laundry, kitchen and living room. Upstairs still a total disaster zone but you can't have it all Grin

My 16 year old is researching a cure for cancer

My 14 year old is sorting out World Peace

My 12 year with old is continuing with their sports training … Olympics here we come !

My 10 year old is translating some Ancient Greek text, in an attempt to track down the Holy Grail

… not that I’m one to boast about how much better my family is in than yours …

Sorry you have this lazy bunch of slackers over there ;-)

mourndayclub · 31/12/2022 13:21

I'm avoiding finishing my uni assignment by having managed to gather the DC in the living room to watch home alone with me while I sit on mn!

This was done by threat as none of them were keen and wanted to continue playing their games but as we've barely watched any films this holidays I threatened to take the games away if they can sit with me for a couple of hours! DH is out shooting

Howlongwillthistake · 31/12/2022 13:21

Prepping food for a party....kitchen is a shit tip but DH is helping by sweeping the leaves on the patio 🙄

Biffatcrafts · 31/12/2022 13:21

Absolutely nothing, and it's bliss. DH out on his bike for at least the next 3 hours and I'm relaxing on the sofa, flicking through MN 😀 with the windows wide open (yes, I live abroad and it's warm here today) listening to the birdsong and contemplating whether or not to give myself a pedicure 🤔😊

WashAsDelicates · 31/12/2022 13:22

I am ironing an umbrella.

Twobigsapphires · 31/12/2022 13:38

Ds1 is in the kitchen making himself pancakes. Dd is still in bed. Ds2 is in his oodie on his Xbox. Dh is procrastinating about putting the decorations up for our NYE party tonight. I’m sat on the sofa in my oodie watching him.

Shergill15 · 31/12/2022 13:50

DD(7) is glued to YouTube. I'm should be sorting some laundry and packing our overnight things - going to my sisters for the night. However what
I am actually doing is lying on my bed browsing mumsnet

whatisthisinmyburger · 31/12/2022 13:53

I’m on the sofa with my phone, done a couple of loads of washing and some small jobs but not much!

DD 17 is getting ready to go out, DS 15 is in bed, DD&DS 9 have their iPads but are also making a “house” for our 2 cats out of empty cardboard boxes, so far it’s got doors, windows, a chimney, an upstairs, felt carpets and they are working on the decor. Cats are already interested and have been inside - really regretting not recycling the boxes yesterday because it looks like they’ll have to hang around for a few more days! SadGrin

DH (can’t sit still) made everyone breakfast, cleaned the fireplace and now he’s recaning a chair. He isn’t really willing to “switch off” or be lazy until 6pm or so. It’s great most of the time but he’s making me feel lazy at the moment!

Mumofone2021 · 31/12/2022 13:54

Addenbrookes is a great hospital. MIL has just been treated there for head cancer and has recovered. Cambridge is beautiful too. All the best, I hope everything goes well

AuntieMarys · 31/12/2022 13:55

Cocktails. Papers. Peace

Mumofone2021 · 31/12/2022 13:55

That was a response to @Disneyvillain

DarkKarmaIlama · 31/12/2022 13:56

My 12 year old son is gaming

My 11 year old daughter is gaming

My 7 year old son is gaming

Me and my husband are chilling in the living room after our New Year’s Eve spread which went down well with the kids. Feeling very relaxed.

Theoldwoman · 31/12/2022 13:59

It’s almost 10 pm here.

Dropped DD off at a NYE festival, will pick her up at 1am

Im just chilling with the puppy, DH is watching a movie. Very relaxing!

TheFluffiestCat · 31/12/2022 13:59

DD is building Lego, DH is reading upstairs with the cat, I'm summoning up the enthusiasm to empty the washing machine and make a cup of tea.

warofthemonstertrucks · 31/12/2022 14:08

Dd2 has just gone off with her dad to his families new year party-grumbling as he has guilted her in to it.

Dd1 is at work.

I'm getting her stuff together to take to her at half three when I pick her up as she has decided she is going to a friends party later so I'll get her, drop her to her mates then come back-hours round trip.

DH is engaged in a standard argument with his ex wife who is demanding the DSS's back a day early as she has messed the dates up and made plans for a day they are with us and somehow that's our problem. This happens about every two months or so and is exhausting.

I had a miscarriage a few days ago, and feeling a bit tired and sad, so debating wether to go out for our planned early dinner tonight. I've been sick with the non covid flu thing since 7th December and only started feeling better a few days ago and now this-but feel I should go out a bit even if just to escape the house.

2022 has been a terrible year for us and I'm ready for it to be over tbh!

onmywayamarillo · 31/12/2022 14:15

Lying in bed , house is clean, kids all at their dads house until next week.
Just going to watch films, eat and scroll all day! Might put the fire on and have a glass of very nice wine 🍷 later

Boystomenslowdanceatweddings · 31/12/2022 14:16

@warofthemonstertrucks I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Christmas is a particularly shit time for this to happen. Take one day at a time.

lacey79 · 31/12/2022 14:16

20 year old has gone shopping for his lunch food for the week so he doesnt have to go tomorrow. Im tempted to send him my shopping list too.

Im researching for my dissertation, well, more procrastinating at the minute!
