Opinions please! Ignore my outfit I'm aware it doesn't match lol but considering this bag - if I get it I would wear with simplistic outfits but what do you think?

DH thinks it's disgusting (not the design but the print because of its connotations) but want to know if he's outnumbered or not!

There are some proper snobs on here, who clearly can't actually afford LV. Ignore the jealousy OP.

I loathe ostentatious branding, so it's a no from me.
I've made it past 50 without ever owning a handbag though, so I'm possibly not the best guide! Do you have nice big pockets in that coat?

HOW? How have you got past 50 without ever owning a handbag? Confused

Where do you put your

money purse
any inhalers
other meds or tablets
tissues
lipstick
other make up
perfume
pen
glasses
a snack Grin
your phone
cough sweets/mints
etc.

As for the bag @chavbagornot I am not a fan, but then never HAVE been a fan of name brands. I don't think 'oooh tacky/chav etc' I just CBA with them. 10 times more £££ for the real thing than a normal bag! Why? Confused

A colleague of mine brought a LV bag for me from 'overseas' a few years ago, (fake obvs!) and I have never ever used it. She asked me multiple times when I was going to use it, and I never did. I think she was offended, but I never asked for the bag, and I didn't want it.

Orrrr maybe they just don't like fake tat, and/or people trying to make out they're considerable richer than YOW. Wink

I'd have used it the next couple of times I saw her, to be polite. You can say it fell apart after that. If it's fake, she'll believe it.

So fucking true 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Am honestly not going to get into a bun fight over this,

in some instances it’s hard to tell a fake at first glance, I’m be bemused by the comment, there are some very good fakes around. That’s why there are websites dedicated to showing you how to know.

as said, I stand by if someone is dressed inexpensivly it is rare they can afford 2 grand on a bag and plump for a commonly faked very obvious one.

we can all agree to disagree.

LimeCheesecake · 30/12/2022 09:41

It comes up on those “how to look expensive/posh” threads every now and then - about it always looking cheap if you look like you’ve got one expensive bag and you use it regardless of it going with your outfit or what you are doing.

I always think the LV branded stuff looks casual, like it should be the bag for throwing over casual coat, jeans and trainers for weekend jobs. They are for smartening up a day time outfit, not really evening /dinner bag. When someone’s all dressed up carrying a branded LV it does look more like “I can only afford one bag and it was important that everyone could tell I’d spent money on it, rather than buying it because it’s nice.”

(Doesn’t go with a black coat though, was going to suggest over one of the white puffer jackets I’ve seen about but everyone in them does look like they are about to launch into a rendition of “stay another day” so maybe park until it’s cream trench coat weather.)

people trying to make out they're considerable richer than YOW.

Well, that's clearly what it's really about, isn't it? Including the person with the cryptic "giveaways". There's a lot of bluster about style and good taste and knowing a fake on sight, but like every other LV bag thread, the issue here is really just anger that someone might have an expensive designer bag when they're no better than you.

coconotgrove · 30/12/2022 09:42

Not a fan of LV, but love that particular style of bag. Have even tried it on several times!

YouWouldNotBelieveIt · 30/12/2022 09:42

Horrible.

Thisismyusernamefornow · 30/12/2022 09:43

I love it.

Idontgiveashitanymore · 30/12/2022 09:45

🤢

AlwaysGoingBackwards · 30/12/2022 09:47

So is it harder to spot a fake bag if the person wearing it is all wearing genuine, expensive clothes? 🤔

KimberleyClark · 30/12/2022 09:47

Expensive designer bags don’t interest me. I’m quite happy with my Radley bought in a sale.

AlwaysGoingBackwards · 30/12/2022 09:47

*also

LimeCheesecake · 30/12/2022 09:48

Actually had another look - it’s too structured for a quilted coat/leggings /trainers outfit, would look nice with a wool coat and jeans. Just not black /grey. Do you wear lots of blues and greens and beiges ?

DillDanding · 30/12/2022 09:48

It’s really awful.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 30/12/2022 09:49

I think it's tragic looking. Like in a Turkish bazaar

"Bemused", too!

The "giveaway" you were referring to was clearly not the bag. It was the idea that the person with the bag must not really be richer than you and it's either a fake or they can't really afford nice things. Which is obviously an issue for you.

There was no need to be all coy about it. It's the standard attitude on here, especially regarding LV bags. You're in fine company.

ThreeblackCats · 30/12/2022 09:50

I’ve always found LV to be too in your face with the branding. There’s no subtlety and I think it’s crass. But each to his own.

op, if you love it, buy it.

ThreeblackCats · 30/12/2022 09:51

That was not supposed to be underlined but italics!

BusyBeatle · 30/12/2022 09:53

I think it's lovely. Coated canvas is a LV classic and isn't going anywhere. Sooo... I prefer the Damien Ebene print myself but wouldn't say no to this

Mystery2345 · 30/12/2022 09:59

I really like it - depends on what you're going to wear with it, and possibly where

Toottooot · 30/12/2022 10:01

So bitchy on this thread - what is it about designer bags that’s attracts such awful comments. Normally posters on here are falling over themselves to tell you to ‘be kind’ or ‘if you have nothing nice to say - say nothing.’ Clearly if you own or aspire to own an expensive bag you are fair game to be insulted.

Completely agree - it's timeless. I have 3 LV bags, all in different prints. But my favourite is the monogram because it's a classic print.
