Opinions please! Ignore my outfit I'm aware it doesn't match lol but considering this bag - if I get it I would wear with simplistic outfits but what do you think?

DH thinks it's disgusting (not the design but the print because of its connotations) but want to know if he's outnumbered or not!

LV is one of those recognisable brands like Burberry check, Gucci logo, Chanel handbags, Rolex watches, etc that are copiously faked and sold cheaply on street market stalls.

I remember years ago being in Easy Street Market and seeing quilted Chanel handbags (with the chain strap) for £15.

Avoid, unless you run with a trashy crowd who covet fake designer brands. Personally, it think it looks cheap.

daisyjgrey · 30/12/2022 08:31

also could never justify spending that much on a bag I’ll dump on the floor in restaurants or at work.

...you don't 'dump' expensive bags on the floor in restaurants 😮

littlemousebigcheese · 30/12/2022 08:33

I love it 😂 but I have the same one so I'm biased

Thoughtful2355 · 30/12/2022 08:34

the fact there are so many good fakes out there would put me off anything LV

ShirleyPhallus · 30/12/2022 08:38

I always love how much MN collectively hates designer handbags yet are expert enough to be able to spot fakes 😆

janeeyreair · 30/12/2022 08:39

@chavbagornot I love it I don't think its Chav at all, anything can be made to look Chav. That print reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. If you like it wear it!

I mainly buy vintage Louis Vuitton as I like the darker leather and worn in look.

twilightcafe · 30/12/2022 08:40

If you like it, buy it.
If other people think the bag is a fake, that's their problem, not yours.

bibbif · 30/12/2022 08:46

I like that style bag. I'm not anti LV, each to their own.

Topee · 30/12/2022 08:47

I wouldn’t give a toss if other people thought it was fake, if you like the bag then carry it.

It’s no different to someone making the assumption a Rolex is fake. It doesn’t matter. If you like and enjoy it that’s all that counts.

bibbif · 30/12/2022 08:48

I don't particularly like the word chavvy but I think they moved onto Chanel, hasn't stopped me wearing mine though.

LaffTaff · 30/12/2022 08:49

I like it. I like bags though, bit of an addict, I use them for a bit before getting bored (I always sell them on though). On the fake concern, you can tell from someone's overall appearance if their bag is likely to be fake.

BCBird · 30/12/2022 08:50

Like the circular shape but not the pattern.

LimeCheesecake · 30/12/2022 08:52

Right well I wanted to give you some suggestions for other small cross body bags if you were after something small like that. Went on the Tory Burch website as I was sure they had a curved bag that might be a similar size, and now I’ve been really distracted by their sale and need to get my car through it’s MOT next month and can not justify yet another pretty bag. Damn your eyes!!!

anyway, for smallish cross body bags, I have a Mulberry Small Amberley that’s very flexible for what I wear it with and can get quite a bit in. Have used it a lot over the last 3 years and it still looks good. They have it in tan if you are after a lighter coloured small bag.

the LV will need dressing up, and I need bags that go just as well with jeans and a jumper than pretty frocks.

Pedallleur · 30/12/2022 08:52

Like Burberry in the 90s LV is a victim of its own success. I admire the brand but it's readily available now and just faked all the time. Back in the day there were 2 stores in the UK both in London and no one knew who LV were unless you bought into it years ago with their luggage/steamer trunks etc.

Floweryflora · 30/12/2022 08:53

If I’m honest. The rest of your attire said to me it was fake. I’m sorry if I’m wrong,

generally , not always, but often, you can tell by the rest of someone’s attire. Ie if it’s all expensive it’s likely real. But if it’s not then it’s likely not.

and I say that as someone who had a fake lv bag years ago and certainly couldn’t have afforded the real thing.

as such, I’d assume it’s a fake and as such, tacky

SSDDagain88 · 30/12/2022 08:56

I love a designer bag but LV isn’t for me due to the amount of fakes and the brand being too in your face. If you want a designer bag- Mulberry have an amazing sale online and is much less in your face

tigerprawnzie · 30/12/2022 08:57

It's really nice. I love LV and don't think it's chav at all. Never heard anyone refer to it as that, until I came on here today. It elevates any outfit. You can wear it on a night out or during the day. Check out the Alma bb though, I prefer it.

donquixotedelamancha · 30/12/2022 08:57

I wouldn't worry about what others think though, you're the one who has to like it.

Surely nobody buys a 'designer' bag if they don't care what others think. The entire point of branding is to make something look like you paid a fortune for the name.

I always love how much MN collectively hates designer handbags yet are expert enough to be able to spot fakes

You realise the different names on posts denote different people, don't you? Hence the differing opinions.

There are tons of people on here who love designer stuff and go on about them being good value. The fact that lots of other people don't think the emperor is wearing clothes is just reflective of people's views in general.

Grumpybutfunny · 30/12/2022 08:58

I like it because its a different shape to those that are normally faked (neverfull). I have a few and I find I just put them away when I see loads wearing obviously fake copies and get them back out when it's not the in thing to copy. I also think it depends what you are wearing whether it looks fake, Balmain blazer and skinnies is my go to with LV.

Have you looked a YSL? If you just like the style hit up DH gate for it 😉 nothing against copies.

Izipizi · 30/12/2022 08:59

Sorry OP, I agree with the others that the really recognizable and loud LV branding is tacky. There are so many beautiful handbags out there, gorgeous quality, that won’t scream, “I paid a lot for this handbag and want to make sure the world knows it” or, worse (because it isn’t a fake), “I bought a fake with heavy branding to make you think I have money to burn”.

Neither scenario is one you want, really.

Climbles · 30/12/2022 08:59

I don’t like it but you shouldn’t listen to a bunch of strangers on mumsnet about what handbag to get. If you love it buy it.

tigerprawnzie · 30/12/2022 09:02

Floweryflora · 30/12/2022 08:53

I completely disagree with this.. so someone who owns a designer bag, can't dress casual like OP? Lots of women wear designer bags to go to the gym etc. I really wouldn't think the bag is a fake, based on how a person is dressed. The bag completes any outfit in my opinion.

SardineStitches · 30/12/2022 09:03

On the fake concern, you can tell from someone's overall appearance if their bag is likely to be fake.

Disagree completely. I'm a bag addict too but don't care what I'm wearing when dashing about on errands... If that makes it fake then so be it, only I know where they're bought and as long as I like them that's all that matters since I'm the one carrying it.

generally , not always, but often, you can tell by the rest of someone’s attire. Ie if it’s all expensive it’s likely real. But if it’s not then it’s likely not.

Most people would think my bags are fake based on that. I work from home permanently and so my weekday attire is pretty sloppy and will dash to the shops in that if I need to.
I only own high end bags so that's what I'm carrying. The more people that think it's fake the less likely someone would want to snatch it. I like them and I know they're real as I always buy direct from the brand, never second hand etc. So I don't really care what someone else thinks or assumes. Irrelevant to me.

Cincinnatus · 30/12/2022 09:04

I like it 🫣
