To ask your thoughts on Andrew Tate?

I went out for dinner recently and all of my nephews aged between 13-26 had a lots of respect for him.

While I agree with a lot of what Andrew Tate says he then has to spoil things with his horrific views on certain topics and I'd go as far as to say some of his points make him dangerous to young men (it concerned me how my nephews really respect him)

What are your thoughts on Andrew Tate?? But also, why do so many respect him in this way when he is so dangerous? Or is it that most people clearly secretly feel this way too?!

They also don't seem to realise that the women they're telling to have kids young generally meet almost no men who want to get married and have kids young.

The older ones (except the eternal playboy's) settled with, mostly, their peers around 30 and are not single.

Again, they don't live in the real world.

I don't like Andrew Tate and the world he presents - misogynistic, materialistic, ignorant but Jordan Peterson is in a different league.
He's an intellectual and his advice to young men (and women) is often sound. Whether you agree with it or not is fine but he's so far removed from the Andrew Tates of this world. Like a pp, I don't understand why he's always seen in the same category.

I haven't actually listened to much of what Jordan Peterson says I'll have to check him out

I couldn't care less about what men value in women, men are only encumbrances to women, we are better off without them.

Soothsayer1 · 27/12/2022 14:55

If he wants to live in a culture where women are forced to obey men then he needs to go and live in some primitive tribal culture
I don't imagine hed find that much fun
He wants the benefits of a modern technologically advanced liberal society, but he can't cope with the 'downside' that women no longer have to defer to men.

Does anyone 'need' anyone? I don't think so but as I said, I'm comfortable in my own skin so have never looked to anyone, bar real people directly involved in my life.

I don't think anyone needs one particular person to look to for life guidance. Not in the way that some men seem to hang on the words of AT.

There are literally loads of inspirational men out there though, who aren't toxic. Take your pick of the many who have different qualities that you aspire to. But just don't rely on one person as noone is perfect or needs to be held in such high esteem, basically because everyone is flawed. Make heroes and heroines at your peril.

Arsene Wenger is a genuinely inspirational figure and not toxic in the male sense. A gentle figure but a success in many measurable ways. But he's confessed to being a poor father/husband who was never around due to his drive to be a successful manager.

IMO people need to have inspirational figures to look up to and be examples of. not just in the family but externally as well.
I am not talking about heroes or heroines but solid people that can be seen to be living good lives.

OneTC · 27/12/2022 15:11

Yeah I am generally against the veneration of celebrity types, I think most people are too fallible.

But I'm also aware of how privileged my life has been and that I have benefited from a great family. The idea I'd have looked outside that is pretty alien to me personally but obviously this isn't the reality of many children

Foxgluv · 27/12/2022 15:21

He looks like he has a feminine jawline under his facial hair. His head appears a little on the small side. Facially, his features are similar to the baby in season 1 of American Horror Story. That's my thoughts.

Of course I have plenty of people I admire and qualities of people I have huge respect for. I also get the need for solid role models but AT isn't what you're talking about or who his followers are looking for.

Most definitely any female related advice is not going to go well and will never lead to success in any way.

The irony of course is that the answer is deceptively simple. Treat women as human beings and give up a little to gain a lot.

Men aren't losing anything but have everything to gain here. What could genuinely be better than getting on with 50% of the population.

Agreed to a point. I think people could be admired for what they are and what their good at, rather than the expectation or belief that because they can kick a ball/act in a movie/sing a song that they have anything else valid or worthwhile to bring to your attention is extremely unlikely.

Tate appears to have been quite good at kicking people in the head, probably worthy of respect if you like that kind of thing, and he's super adept at fleecing muppets. But there his talents end

I think as well that much of the support and interest in him is trolling. A few of the people I know that talk about him (older than teens) are definitely talking about him to wind people up.

Someone should do some "publicity" for him along the "people who use head and shoulders don't have dandruff" concept

Just the thought that you'd look to a fucking benzo addict who's life has literally fallen apart and who despite being supposedly really fucking clever actually claimed he didn't know the highly addictive drugs he took daily might bite him back eventually.

But yeah tidy your room

OneTC · 27/12/2022 17:23

Life coaches and motivational speakers used to be a source of mockery and comedy, charlatans have been around forever. Just now they've got the tools to reach out, you don't need to go and sit in a conference hall somewhere with all the other embarrassing wankers to get the message

Not sure how Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson got tarred with the same brush. Jordan Peterson is a neurologist and psychologist. Andre Tate is an ex Muy Thai fighter and professional provocateur.

They're lumped together as they share a commonality. They both talk bollocks and have made a career from it (and loads of money).

he doesnt want to get on with people, he just wants to be feared & obeyed by them.
His ideal seems to align with the Big Man, ie the alpha, in a tribe, there can only be one of them and the homicide rate is high because they all want to be the big man so will fight & kill each other to get the top job.
Let him go live in a tribe, see how long he stays in the top job (with that weak girly chin)

Fairislefandango · 27/12/2022 17:44

You keep saying you want conversation and debate, OP, and accusing people of wanting the conversation 'shut down'. But I don't see what you think a debate about Andrew Tate is going to achieve. Yes, we all know that there are lots of angry, disaffected young men. It's perfectly clear that there are various reasons for that. There's plenty of discussion about it.

Yes, we all know that people with views like Andrew Tate get their hooks into young men. There's plenty of awareness of him too. I think he's an appalling arsehole. And no, I don't think the fact that my sensible 14yo ds agrees he's an arsehole stops the popularity of people like AT being a problem for society. But a big discussion about AT won't solve anything!

Tbh, what you seem to be looking for is for posters to all agree he's popular and agree there are reasonable, justifiable reasons why boys like him, so that you can feel ok about your nephews liking him.

WorldCuppa · 27/12/2022 17:53

@SamanthaCaine In that case you know nothing of Jordan Peterson.
