Smuggest mum blogger post ever?

Yippitydoodah · 21/12/2022 20:18

I follow a mum blogger who lives in a very remote location in the UK. Posts have always been a bit ‘aren’t we wholesome’ but with some interesting stuff too. But just recently the smug has reached a new level! She homeschools her kids (not short of a bob or two) and posted about their day outdoors in the nice winter sunshine. She said ‘my son said, just think mum, if I went to school like everyone else I would be sat in a classroom missing this beautiful day. Isn’t he wise?’

AIBU to ask if this is the most self congratulatory post ever?!

If you're unable to keep a control of your own jealousy, why not just unfollow her?

Not at all jealous, it’s sort of funny in an Amanda from Motherland way!

They are all full of shit. I used to be one for a bit and hung around with a few in the good old days of the mumsnet bloggers awards.

It’s all made up bollocks to try and get people to read their drivel so they might get some paid posts. The shit I made up, I’m still embarrassed 5 years on.

crisscrosscringle · 21/12/2022 20:25

It's all fake anyway. My DD goes to school with the daughter of a mum blogger. On Instagram the kid is all smiles and looks like a happy soul. The reality is she cries ALL THE BLOODY TIME and scowls constantly unless an iPhone is pointed at her when this fake perma grin appears. It's sad to watch.

This is exactly who i pictured as i read your OP! No way did her kid say that 😆

OhmygodDont · 21/12/2022 20:31

We have one at school and omg she thinks she’s the bees knees. Holding court in the playground with her amazeballs stuff. She suckers in the reception newbies while we roll our eyes. Same as those forever living bs parents.

Also know she gets given stuff to review and has sometimes reviewed it without ever taking it out of the box then flogging on, on Facebook. She sells this wholesome life with a playroom and this and that. Fails to mention the fact she squished multiple children into a box ish size room to have a playroom rather than separate bedrooms for at least one child. Very very selective photo’s obviously when he house is actually tiny and filled to the brim with “stuff” makes me dizzy when I see videos on her personal Facebook as opposed to her blogger profile.

winterpastasalad · 21/12/2022 20:34

Definitely made up. I went to school with a girl who went on to be a mummy blogger and was up for an award on here. We lived in the same town and the dc went to some of the same clubs. She used to give the impression that they were loaded and once took a picture of the Christmas tree "in the drawing room". She lived in a two up, two down terrace in a rough part of town.
She was once "lazing in St Tropez" except there was no lazing at all, she was staying in a Haven site hundreds of miles away and went just to take the photo. Her grid was all "lunch date with the hubby" but they were up to their eyes in debt. She was a carer and he was a delivery driver but she spoke a lot about her "corporate job" and would post "work" pics all dolled up, which were all lies. It seems she scrubbed the blog now, probably knew that local people knew she was talking crap.

Reluctantadult · 21/12/2022 20:38

I must be very naive, I mean I know people exaggerate online but I didn't realise that it is totally made up!

crimsonpeak · 21/12/2022 20:41

I follow one or two on ig - mostly because I like some of the activities they do with their kids and in particular one gives me good ideas for reading materials and books at home, but honestly, what small child is really THAT into organ recitals.

Onlinetherapist · 21/12/2022 20:43

It isn’t school holidays where I am. Friday 23rd is last day of term.

Ocrumbs · 21/12/2022 20:47

So you follow her just to laugh at her?

Mammyloveswine · 21/12/2022 20:47

Who is it?! Hate when no one shares it is! Totally pointless!

LolaSmiles · 21/12/2022 20:49

It's a bit twee and nauseating to post it, but it goes with the territory.

I know some mummy bloggers and it's largely the highlights reel, which I understand. I feel quite uncomfortable with the oversharing mummy bloggers. The poor children don't need photos all over public social media pages of them poorly in bed with seasonal flu.

Ocrumbs · 21/12/2022 20:47

I follow mine because she asked me to for the extra follower basically. I don’t hate her or dislike her as herself but her mummy blogger self is total bs.

'Nerve'?

Why? What's she going to do? Track you down and slap you, or sit there and type you to death?

Keyansier · 21/12/2022 20:21

Criticism doesn't mean jealousy.

The OP gave no indication at all that she was jealous.

I could see a child saying that, if they had been fed that line day after day.

DarkKarmaIlama · 21/12/2022 20:54

I know a mum blogger who also happens to be drop dead gorgeous as well as her kids. She is an incredible writer, real with it (warts and all on family life) and annoyingly really bloody nice. She’s always on holiday with her kids too but it’s always paid for.

OP yes that person sounds like a Twat!

I meant OP really but I guess if it's someone you know IRL you would

Misses point of thread! 🤣
