Smuggest mum blogger post ever?

Yippitydoodah · 21/12/2022 20:18

I follow a mum blogger who lives in a very remote location in the UK. Posts have always been a bit ‘aren’t we wholesome’ but with some interesting stuff too. But just recently the smug has reached a new level! She homeschools her kids (not short of a bob or two) and posted about their day outdoors in the nice winter sunshine. She said ‘my son said, just think mum, if I went to school like everyone else I would be sat in a classroom missing this beautiful day. Isn’t he wise?’

AIBU to ask if this is the most self congratulatory post ever?!

That metal tub for laundry. One look and I’m thinking a kid is going to crash on that a split a lip or forehead. That room was furnished by a woman who’s not had a lot to do with children.

@NeverDropYourMooncup bahahaha. But they never get called for tea because every night they go out to eat. Every night.

just found another mommy blogger she’s from Utah and she has Briton, Holland, Hudson and London.

the sheer number of Geographic names is astounding. Imagine if someone in Arizona got a map of the uk and was like, London and Bristol have been done, I’m going to call my baby Doncaster. Then the next one comes and they go for baby Ipswich. Ipswich-May.

Is the "local unfinished furniture shop" IKEA?

I just startled my husband as I exclaimed, "but it's a bloody kallax"

Thank you for bringing that post back into my life, read it years ago pre kids. While I do have some crunchy leanings it is still an absolute delight

He may have said it... because of her parroting such things for months or years.

Our pta was frantically raising funds for some essential equipment in a new building. Lots of initiatives etc. At the time, I was on the committee. It was relentless because we had a time limit. One group of parents, including dh, got together separately and worked on an amazing fundraising project. They worked really hard and it was v successful and it became our biggest single fund raising event for this huge effort. Brilliant.

The son of the woman who was leading it caused mayhem when he announced in class that his mummy had responsible dor the school getting the new equipment.

It got round the school sharpish and caused some very bad feelings.

I've long suspected the mum had made such comments, (she is definitely the pretentious type) but also that the ds took them too literally!!

I worked in a civilian role, well several roles over the years, with the local police force. At one time I prepared files for Crown Court, sometimes on the local news there would be a piece about a murder trial, I'd say something like "I did the file for that one." Dear son announced to the school that his mum did all the murders in our city. Kids would happily get your hung wouldn't they.

It is a bit smug but then is it? I’d read that and think aww that’s nice but thank god I’m not having to home school my kids! I can’t think of anything worse!! Being a working mum is hard but some days I’m so grateful to be sipping coffee on a comfy chair with nobody yelling ‘mum’ at me every five seconds!

It's much of a muchness, but I couldn't help reading your post and being reminded of a very old MN post mocking "Finn's Montessori Nursery".

Finn must be a great hulking teenager by now Smile

Found the post (can't find the MN thread)

sewliberated.typepad.com/sew_liberated/2009/04/finnians-montessori-room.html

She still posts incredibly perfect shots on instagram, you've got to respect the dedication.

Oh, I was coming on to post about Finn's Nursery - it remains my favourite blog post ever! 😂

Reminds me of this 😂

Lol at 3 mine was asking if he planted a dead squirrel (we found in the woods), would another one grow in its place 🤣

Yabu

It's true

He would possibly learn better grammar than "I would be sat" in school too.

Yes! This!

ZestFest · 21/12/2022 22:57

I dunno - my pipsqueak aged 5 piped up as he dropped his precious Lego creation and watched it smash on the floor: "All of my life has just turned to dust" 😂

Definitely please!

I don't know who's sadder those who post crap like that or those who follow them and then are so incensed they have to mock said person for validation from others.

BeverForget · 21/12/2022 23:03

And then the kid made breakfast for some homeless people and the entire internet clapped.

JudgeJ · 21/12/2022 23:06

crisscrosscringle · 21/12/2022 20:25

It's all fake anyway. My DD goes to school with the daughter of a mum blogger. On Instagram the kid is all smiles and looks like a happy soul. The reality is she cries ALL THE BLOODY TIME and scowls constantly unless an iPhone is pointed at her when this fake perma grin appears. It's sad to watch.

I sadly think that this using children to boost one's social media exposure is a time-bomb waiting to happen, children tend not to like fussing parents, how many have been told off for hugging their child in public. The NHS will doubtless be expected to provide solutions for another 'issue'.

Or the posters who comment on such threads like yourself?

Has anyone seen the creepy dad on TikTok that constantly posts videos of his 9 year old “trans” son? (“Identifying” as a girl)

Its sickening, the videos pop up everytime I put TikTok on and the bloke is clearly using this kid for the “fame”

If you're unable to keep a control of your own jealousy, why not just unfollow her?

What an odd response

PennyRa · 21/12/2022 23:11

Are you really going to hate on a child enjoying his life?

JudgeJ · 21/12/2022 23:11

Ocrumbs · 21/12/2022 20:47

So you follow her just to laugh at her?

Not being involved on 'following' random people, from what I read on here it seems that laughing at these people is the best use of them!

Stompythedinosaur · 21/12/2022 23:12

Finn's nursery has brought back some memories for me! I remember reading this when I was pregnant. It is perfectly awful, it could almost be a pastiche.

SallyAny · 21/12/2022 23:14

I’m old…. But I remember being really p..d off at Paula Yates when we were both pregnant and she was raising chickens and doing yoga whilst I was trying to work out if I could have 3 months off and pay the bills. 25 years later her daughter peaches died very sadly and mine is now mum to 2 lovely grand children …. Life never works out quite how you think!

kateandme · 21/12/2022 23:19

She didn’t “make up” a spare airing cupboard into a place to warm her little darlings clothes today did she

Bristol, Rawlings and Thompson sounds more like a 1950s spanner manufacturer than what you'd hear being bawled out the kitchen window because their Tea's ready.

It totally does, perfect! 😂

Yep! Saccone Jolys - very odd family
