Pushchair fight on bus

Partygal · 19/12/2022 22:25

After picking my child up from her child minder today, I arrived the bus stop to find two women with buggies waiting.

Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there.

When it arrived at the next stop, sure enough only mum was allowed on - the other was told to wait 30 minutes for the next bus. I was screamed at and called a cunt and a queue jumper by one mum who tried to shove me off the bus.

I don’t think I did anything wrong, nor did the police when they turned up after being called by the driver.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

The women have male owners? Where do you live, Gilead?

This place gets more unpleasant every day. 🙄

MajorCarolDanvers · 19/12/2022 23:22

Why did t you all fold and all travel?

It sounds like you were all badly behaved.

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 19/12/2022 23:21

Yanbu.

But I also think only collapsible umbrella type pushchairs should be allowed on buses which is how it used to be .......People have taken advantage of accessible buses which disability campaigners fought for for years, the current situation leaves both groups at a disadvantage. Hardly anyone with a pushchair can use the buses because they're unable to use common sense and wheelchair users are hardly able to use them.because of selfish twats with prams the size of a small car taking up the spaces

If there is no wheelchair user on the bus what does it matter what size of pram they have?

WuTangGran · 19/12/2022 23:23

10/10 for initiative. Nothing wrong with that.

whumpthereitis · 19/12/2022 23:23

Meh. You used your brain and got yourself a space, good thinking on your part.

They can be mad about it as much they like, but nothing you did justifies assaulting you. It’s their fault they decided to fuck themselves over further.

roarfeckingroarr · 19/12/2022 23:25

Nicely done.

Wait, so you saw two people waiting for a bus, and decided to walk back a stop knowing full well that one of those waiting people wouldn't be able to get on the bus because of you. And you're surprised they kicked off.

Hope you don't have to catch that bus, or go through that neighbourhood again.

supersonicginandtonic · 19/12/2022 23:28

@SamuelDavies NHS is free for most people 🤦🏼‍♀️

lawandgin · 19/12/2022 23:29

Meh, work smarter, not harder 🤷‍♀️

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 19/12/2022 22:31

Was your pushchair foldable?

You acted knowing that you would be taking the place of someone who had been waiting longer than you.

Technically you didn't break any rules, but you were selfish and sneaky in your actions. If your pushchair was foldable then you could have folded it, put it in the bag bit and held your child.

This.
you didn’t do anything “wrong” but you were devious and self serving.

Ha ha, this. You didn't think about the long game, did you OP. No more catching the bus for you. Not so clever after all Grin

lol. If they’ve smartened up at all and decide they don’t particularly want to end up banned from the bus or deal with the police and/or social services again then she should be fine, barring the odd dirty look.

All this gleeful anticipation of revenge is overlooking the fact that the consequences of this for the so called victims of OP are likely to be significantly worse.

Coyoacan · 19/12/2022 23:31

The OP is a queue jumper and the idea of having to wait an extra half an hour in the cold thanks to her attitude would probably make most of us a bit feral.

Police don't attend actual crimes let alone squabbles on the bus. Everyone really just stayed there and waited for the police?

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/12/2022 23:36

She absolutely shouldn’t have shoved you. But you also sound quite sly, it wouldn’t even have occurred to me to queue jump like that.

StressedToTheMaxxx · 19/12/2022 23:36

It was a bit shitty and sneaky what you did.

Christinatherabbit · 19/12/2022 23:37

So you could have folded yours at the earlier bus stop so all mums and babies got on the warm bus and home quicker but you chose not to...why?
No one is this selfish surely so I can only imagine you are trolling?

FTY765 · 19/12/2022 23:37

I think it was a bit of a dubious thing to do, but not "wrong" as such. However her reaction was completely OTT.

Hitchingmyskirt · 19/12/2022 23:37

I would (and have) done exactly the same thing in the past.
For those saying you should have collapsed your buggy. Why? You made it onto the bus first by taking the time to walk to an earlier stop. Which they also had the option to do. Unless you get on at the very first stop there’s always the possibility you won’t get a space.
If the other mums both wanted to get on why couldn’t they collapse either one or both of theirs?

ReneBumsWombats · 19/12/2022 23:37

Busybutbored · 19/12/2022 23:02

I'm curious ... what would people think if OP did this to them? Would she still be clever?

Yes, of course. You might not approve but how is it not clever?

Coyoacan · 19/12/2022 23:31

The OP is a queue jumper and the idea of having to wait an extra half an hour in the cold thanks to her attitude would probably make most of us a bit feral.

You can't be a queue jumper if you are at a different bus stop. If any other random person with a pram had been at the previous stop for 2 minutes or a half hour it would have been their spot - would that have been queue jumping. Of course not so what is the difference apart from the op using a bit of cop on.
