Pushchair fight on bus

Partygal · 19/12/2022 22:25

After picking my child up from her child minder today, I arrived the bus stop to find two women with buggies waiting.

Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there.

When it arrived at the next stop, sure enough only mum was allowed on - the other was told to wait 30 minutes for the next bus. I was screamed at and called a cunt and a queue jumper by one mum who tried to shove me off the bus.

I don’t think I did anything wrong, nor did the police when they turned up after being called by the driver.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

I don’t think that poster was actually agreeing with you.

Oh no, having to walk round a buggy in a coffee shop! However do you coke? Why don’t these silly women just have their babies levitate above your precious head so you aren’t inconvenienced by their existence

Levitate? Why on earth didn't I think of that? Genius idea! 😁

You were definitely sneaky OP and think you should have let the other mums on first since they were there before you or you could have just folded your pram. However, I think the abuse and shoving you off is a tad extreme and immature.

Sneaky, selfish and spineless. Takes seconds for to fold your buggy and sit with baby on your knee.

Or if there are no seats, stand up with your baby and put you both in a dangerous situation.

I was once told to fold my buggy and I did, also ended up being squashed with my 9 month old in my arms. When the said bus sharp braked, who ended up injured? Me and my baby.
It doesn't change a damn thing in other peoples lives but they also didn't have to deal with a baby with a chipped tooth and a broken wrist themselves.

I have since learnt to drive since then days but I spent a-lot of time walking to earlier bus stops and didn't feel guilty at all.

She did the smart thing.

CallMeDaphne · 19/12/2022 23:14

That escalated quickly…

Sam is 100% a Scally name.

You must hate pensioners then as they’re the biggest benefit claimants. Bloody parasites.

Cheeseandlobster · 19/12/2022 23:15

Well I hope your few moments of smugness are worth the weeks of being on edge the next time you catch the same bus. It sounds like these women are not backwards in coming forward and they won't have forgotten you in a hurry.

Mariposista · 19/12/2022 23:16

Charming. Wonder what he child’s first word will be 🙄

Well I don’t know anyone like that or the women you describe so perhaps, Sam, it’s the company you keep - and you can’t be much different from them.

Greyarea12 · 19/12/2022 23:16

That's quite a clever idea, one that I would of done myself (if I was clever enough to think of it) back when I used to get on the bus with a pram.

I drove past a bus this evening (central Scotland) stopped just down from the bus stop with its hazards on with what looked like women arguing.

Judgyjudgy · 19/12/2022 23:17

Charlize43 · 19/12/2022 23:13

Devious, but not very fair if the other mums had been waiting a long time.

Now you'll be nervous every time you use that bus stop in case she comes after you. It's like a Stephen King horror story from the 80s.

Ha ha, this. You didn't think about the long game, did you OP. No more catching the bus for you. Not so clever after all Grin

Nirvanarama · 19/12/2022 23:17

Being clever while dicking someone over doesnt make it ok. You still jumped the queue. The woman was obviously a nutter and you picked the wrong person to queue jump, which is at least some poetic justice I suppose.

redflowerbluethorns · 19/12/2022 23:17

*No, one could not “argue that”. It is not a space for prams, it is a space for wheelchair users.

Prams are allowed to occupy the space when it is free but when a wheelchair user comes aboard they must fold the pram or leave the bus. It is not a first come first serve situation*

Poor choice of words by me, I understand that wheelchair users have priority. This is one reason I very rarely used buses when my youngest was in a pram. I have a disability but I do not qualify for blue badges etc, as I am young many people assume I am fit and well. Folding a pram whilst carrying a baby would be impossible for me to do. Luckily I can drive but not everyone is able to.

I wonder how far OP and the other two women had to travel?
I guess not too far if coming back from childminder.
I walk with my DS in pushchair if there is no space in the bus. I often walk all the way home from the nursery which is an hour walk. I walked even when it snowed. Just wrap child warm and walk.
Nothing wrong about going to previous bus stop.

supersonicginandtonic · 19/12/2022 23:18

@LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet I work in safeguarding with people with substance misuse issues, my partner is a probation officer. Both work with plenty people called Sam 🤣

I've also got tattoos, I had a pint of fosters in the pub after work today and I have different fathers to my children 🙄

Do they take them on the bus then?

cstaff · 19/12/2022 23:19

People keep talking about the op skipping the queue. How is that even possible when she was at a different bus stop.

Ah buggy wars. I don't miss them Grin

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 19/12/2022 23:21

Yanbu.

But I also think only collapsible umbrella type pushchairs should be allowed on buses which is how it used to be .......People have taken advantage of accessible buses which disability campaigners fought for for years, the current situation leaves both groups at a disadvantage. Hardly anyone with a pushchair can use the buses because they're unable to use common sense and wheelchair users are hardly able to use them.because of selfish twats with prams the size of a small car taking up the spaces

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 19/12/2022 23:21

To those claiming how awful it must have been for other people on the bus - if I was in a bus this is exactly the kind of drama I’d love to witness 😂
