Pushchair fight on bus

Partygal · 19/12/2022 22:25

After picking my child up from her child minder today, I arrived the bus stop to find two women with buggies waiting.

Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there.

When it arrived at the next stop, sure enough only mum was allowed on - the other was told to wait 30 minutes for the next bus. I was screamed at and called a cunt and a queue jumper by one mum who tried to shove me off the bus.

I don’t think I did anything wrong, nor did the police when they turned up after being called by the driver.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

Survival of the fittest.

The other mum could have folded her buggy if she wanted to get on.

Partygal · 19/12/2022 22:36

The one mum who got on the bus shoved me. NO WAY was I folding after that.

Ahh so you deliberately didn't fold it when you could have

You're all as bad as each other

Hankunamatata · 19/12/2022 22:38

Why on earth didn't you fold your buggy when you got on the previous stop and could have avoided all the upset 🙄

BrutusMcDogface · 19/12/2022 22:38

I think you were selfish and cheeky to do that.

supersonicginandtonic · 19/12/2022 22:39

Sneaky, selfish and spineless. Takes seconds for to fold your buggy and sit with baby on your knee.

YellowTreeHouse · 19/12/2022 22:39

You should have folded before you got to their stop, knowing they were waiting.

You didn’t. You were selfish and to be honest deserved the reaction. The bus driver should have chucked you both off.

Bananarama21 · 19/12/2022 22:40

You sound quite proud that you beaten them to it so to speak. Such shameful appalling behaviour.

viques · 19/12/2022 22:42

Good for you. When I come out of my local station I walk to the “earlier” bus stop, it’s so close you can actually see it from the station bus stop. I always get a seat.

Ohmych · 19/12/2022 22:43

I think you were in the wrong. You were selfish. You definitely should have folded the pram knowing there were two prams waiting at the next stop.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 19/12/2022 22:43

You could all have folded your buggies but there are about three different stops in our town, I always used to plan to get on at the first one which wasn't particularly popular so I had a space / seat when I was wrangling lots of little ones/ pregnant. So you were not unreasonable to go to the early stop.

Doyoumind · 19/12/2022 22:44

You've revealed a lot about yourself here and I don't think it's much to be proud of.

ThanksAntsThants · 19/12/2022 22:44

I think you’re a bloody genius.

CousinKrispy · 19/12/2022 22:45

You should have all three folded your buggies.

I'm very surprised that the police attended for this minor incident and am impressed that the mum at the bus stop recognised you, did you already know each other?

ferntwist · 19/12/2022 22:45

That was really sneaky and selfish OP

fizzypop100 · 19/12/2022 22:46

OP you did nothing wrong. You used your initiative to walk one stop.

Lockheart · 19/12/2022 22:46

Walking to another bus stop is shameful and appalling? Blimey.

You had the opportunity to fold before either of them got on the bus. You knew what was coming, you made a deliberate and conscious decision to screw one of those women over so that you could get your way.

You saw that 2 women and their children had been waiting longer than you and would rightfully get priority on the spaces and you thought 'fuck them'. You didn't even have the moral fibre and general manners to limit the impact by putting down your pushchair tin the hope that then all 3 of you could get on the bus. You made no effort to try to damage control the situation so you held up every bus user while the police were called. You created that whole situation and still think that you were fully in the right.

It's all about you in your world isn't it. Would you have done the same thing if a wheelchair user was waiting at the bus stop? If you'd seen a couple of elderly infirm people who might have used the priority seat reducing the amount of space for pushchairs?

Hercisback · 19/12/2022 22:46

I'd have thrown you all off until you folded the buggies.

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 19/12/2022 22:46

How sly of you! I’d have been annoyed too.

AllOfThemWitches · 19/12/2022 22:47

In no way whatsoever is it 'sneaky' or 'selfish' to do that. Nothing stopping the other mums from doing the same.

Dulcetto · 19/12/2022 22:47

I feel sorry for the bus driver.

This. Dick move op

VashtaNerada · 19/12/2022 22:48

I don’t think this paints you in a particularly good light tbh OP (the other women don’t sound great either). Reminds me of an annual trip to London Zoo I used to do as a teacher. All the schools travelling back to the tube used to wait at the same bus stop. It wasn’t pleasant in the summer heat but we’d line the children up and patiently get on the buses in the order we arrived. One time I saw a teacher from another school who I knew but she didn’t see me. When she saw the queue she walked her class to the stop before which meant the school in front of me who had been waiting about 45 minutes by that point couldn’t get on. She didn’t do anything wrong per se, but I didn’t think much of her after that!

takealettermsjones · 19/12/2022 22:49

Honestly! It's not appalling behaviour at all. I think most people look for shortcuts now and then, and sometimes they involve beating other people to the punch, that's just life. Plenty of people hurry over to the checkout that's just opened even if there are others who have been waiting longer. I often nip round a few side streets to get past the queue of traffic at the lights. OP might have been perfectly happy to fold her buggy until she was called names and shoved (although I'm still finding that whole part, and the police bit, hard to believe tbh).

Aprilx · 19/12/2022 22:49

I don’t think walking to another bus stop is wrong, but you should have folded the oram as you knew two people were waiting. Or you could have stayed at the first stop and the three of you folded the buggies so you could all get on. You are coming across quite badly in this.
