To ask what exactly Clarkson

Feels Meghan has done to him to justify the vitriol and misogyny of that article he wrote where he’d like to see her naked and assaulted?

I mean WTF? How in earth did a major publication think that it was fine to publish his little sexual fantasy about hurting a woman like that?

I’m no fan of the Royals in any form, and could care less about their infighting, but why are we surprised that there is so much violence against women and girls when this kind of article by an influential man is seen as okay to write?
Where’s his description of a naked, vulnerable Harry being assaulted??

Newspaper editors put people in the headlines love. She doesn't 'put herself' in headlines. If that's what you meant in your extremely garbled point upthread.

Neither Piers Morgan or Jeremy Clarkson are editors of newspapers, 'love'. They write controversial opinion pieces based on the top news stories, which detracts attention from others and onto them, just as they like it, 'love'.

The decision to publish those pieces come down to the editor. HTH.

Of which they are neither. HTH

TheKeatingFive · 20/12/2022 15:38

And just fyi, Piers Morgan has very famously edited newspapers. You might want to check out this illustrious career.

Do you understand what the editors job is?

maybe look that up.

TheKeatingFive · 20/12/2022 15:41

Which is exactly why Victoria Newton should be getting a lot more heat for this than she is.

I am well aware of his 'illustrious' career but the fact remains he is not currently (and hasn't been for some years) an editor of a newspaper.

Okay super. Well done.

Now tell me what the editors job is? We're making good progress here.

Absolutely

Piers Morgan famously was the Editor for The News of the World and then The Daily Mirror. He was an Editor from 1995 to 2004.

He decided to leave the NOTW after breaching privacy and breaching ethics.
He then was sacked from the Daily Mirror because he published fake torture Iraq photos.
He did loads of other questionable things as well as the Editor - all in Wikipedia.

So, yes he is fully aware of how these things work

I'm pleased to see that you appear to be making progress too on this Grin.

The editors job is to ok articles prior to printing - she Ok'd it and I'd like to know her thought process behind it but I would suggest that may be a new thread title 'To Ask What Exactly Newton'.

TheKeatingFive · 20/12/2022 15:54

Almost there! Great job.

The editor is the ultimate decision maker on what is printed (hint, it's not Meghan Markle).

So whatever garbage has been unleashed by Morgan/Clarkson, their editors have facilitated that.

SighsTheNewWord · 20/12/2022 15:56

One of the things I don’t understand is why the Sun’s Editor, Victoria Newton, seems to be being allowed to quietly slip away from the scene? She’s as responsible as Clarkson for this sick misogynist fantasy being published.

I wonder if she's one of the posters on Mumsnet defending JC.

StormzyinaTCup · 20/12/2022 17:52

I think you will find that an editor can be 'helped along" in the ultimate decision making process depending on the PR company and if the price is right. After all that is what a celebrity (Hint MM) pays a PR company for. Obviously, in a divisive couple such as MM&PH it's 50/50 whether a published puff piece then backfires on them or not.

GUARDIAN1 · 20/12/2022 17:55

Whether in favour of Meghan Markle or not, nothing justifies Clarkson's behaviour. Vile, disgusting man. His daughter must be gutted.

Juststopamoment · 20/12/2022 17:56

Thank goodness his daughter condemned him. I hope he gets the column taken off him. He shouldn’t be allowed to have such a platform. Idiot.

NattyNatashia · 20/12/2022 17:56

I'm not a fan of Clarkson or Megan to be honest. Both seem self obsessed and full of their own importance and I have no time or interest in what ether have to say.
I did recognise the reference to GOT, it's a fairly well known scene but I appreciate not all would get it, and if not would seem a very odd thing to say.
I'm unsure if Clarkson hates all women, I've not really seen evidence of that, but he clearly hates Megan.

Juststopamoment · 20/12/2022 17:59

Hope the editor loses her job as well
as Clarkson. Absolutely outrageous.

TheKeatingFive · 20/12/2022 17:59

I think you will find, that as savvy businesses operators, editors feature material that gets the public interest. No PR team in the world over rides that.

So if you are one of those people who feel that Markle gets too much coverage, the best thing you can do is never click on a story, comment on a thread or reference anything about her online, ever again.

Simples 😉

StormzyinaTCup · 20/12/2022 18:28

Urm no, I wouldn't put myself in that category purely because I find, from a behaviour point of view, they are both interesting to watch. Therefore, I will of course be passing comment as and when I feel I want to on whatever thread I want to, I'm not shy in voicing my opinion and I like to think that at the same time I am doing my bit to try and keep them where they like to be, front and centre.

There's only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”

He lives near me so I might see him in the street and trip Him up and kick Him in the head as he really is a vile person ….

Givemyheadpiece · 20/12/2022 19:00

‘That said I don't think this situation is anything to do with 'sexual rage' . He has been with his very attractive wife years,’

You do understand that rape and sexual violence is about power and control and hatred of women rather than sex?

Juststopamoment · 20/12/2022 19:00

Apparently the place to complain is the IPSO website. Independent Press Standards Organisation. Independent Press Standards Organisation

I’m not sure cancel culture is working these days. People have been encouraged in shameless behaviour since before trump started his campaign for 2016 elections. Kanye seems to be uncancellable.

It’s something I’m observing in other countries too. Some people have just lost their sense of decency and can’t be shamed/cancelled into changing for the better.

I hear you... Trump gave license to people to spout their bile. A very sorry legacy.

I disagree with the Kanye comment though. KW is mentally unwell, and the reporting of his antics whilst having an episode is incredibly irresponsible. It's a perfect example of clickbait, and extraordinarily damaging both to KW, people who experience psychosis, and to people who do not understand mental illness (most people :( )

Partly because no-one knows who she is, partly because most people have heard of Jeremy Clarkson, and partly because the Sun is owned by Rupert Murdoch who is the biggest misogynist of all time.

CatAndHisKit · 20/12/2022 19:12

JC always made vile remarks as it's his dark sense of humour. When he speaks he doesn't say it in a malicious tone so it's clear it's his sense of humour, but it sure comes across like that written in an article, to people who dpesn't watch him normally!
