I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

I had varifocal lens implants 11 years ago. Like cataract surgery but with personalised varifocal contact lenses replacing my natural eye lenses. .

i was severely myopic (-11 in one eye, -13.5 in the other ) too much so for the more usual corrective laser surgery and I was fed up of constantly juggling glasses, reading and varifocal, contact lenses, prescription sun glasses, corrective swimming goggles etc etc.

it cost £6000 but absolutely changed my life. After a lifetime of not even being able to see the clock by the bed without glasses I now have perfect vision. I don't even need the reading glasses most people in their 60s rely on. And as I was averaging about £1500 a year on glasses, contact lenses etc it has paid for itself several times over.

I see your taxi back from a night out and raise you staying in a hotel near the theatre/club/venue/restaurant. The sheer joy of being able to fall into bed whilst everyone else is probably still queuing is nearly priceless.

if I was really rich I'd buy a little studio flat in the West End and use it for theatre nights.

My hearing aids. Cost a small fortune but so much better than the NHS ones that simply don’t work. I’ve had two pairs of NHS ones over about 8 years, both were virtually useless. I could tell the difference immediately with the private ones.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/01/2023 22:27

I may have said this already but my thinned down varifocals with adjustment of astigmatism. About -7.75 diopters fkr short sight soilk bottle bottoms without the thinning. Usually replaced every three years.

This thread is giving me life today 😍🙏🙏

DraftPunk · 02/04/2023 16:24

A Thermomix.

Though reading up thread now I also want lens implants (minus eleven prescription for short sight).

Winecrispschocolatecats · 05/04/2023 18:56

I was +9 with astigmatism and lens replacement surgery has changed my life. If you have the means to do it, I'd recommend it without hesitation.

This thread makes me quite happy nice one

Yourteaisgettingcold · 20/04/2023 06:36

My divorce.
My breast augmentation after breastfeeding left me with low self esteem. It was a divorce present to myself!

Maybe not the wholesome responses like others but true to me!

Yourteaisgettingcold · 20/04/2023 06:37

Oh and therapy!! Definitely therapy!

Toooldtoworry · 20/04/2023 06:45

A decent mattress and 3 dogs.

Catsmere · 20/04/2023 07:15

Cisapride. Has to be compounded as it was withdrawn from sale due to human deaths. But it is used for animals as a propupsid - my cat needs it for her megacolon. $100 for 100 pills and she has to have two daily. Hideous expensive but it keeps her healthy.

sashh · 20/04/2023 09:25

Another vote for a good mattress.

I've had my DMs over 20 years and they are still going strong.

Notellinganyone · 20/04/2023 19:30

Really expensive mattress. Have just replaced 17 year old Relyon for £1500. Prima Donna Deauville bras. Spendy at over £100 a pop but transformative for HH cups.

Oh and independent midwives for birth of DS 2 & 3. Absolutely the best money I’ve ever spent. No hospital appointments, no GP visits, same midwives for all visits. All done at home. No internal exams, pressure for induction when DS 3 was 42+ 5. Home visits post-partum. Cost the same as a couple of mid range holidays.

Notellinganyone · 20/04/2023 19:36

@TheRedLip - is it always the same GP? Can they do NHS prescriptions? Where did you find them?

Mermaidinmymind · 20/04/2023 19:41

Our TV.

JMSA · 20/04/2023 19:43

My Oodie. But even then, I got it off Vinted.

Boughtitdownthemarket · 20/04/2023 19:56

42 + 5, what without any scanning?!
