I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Private hospital and treatment for the birth of DC.

Worth every penny

@PetrasPony where did you go?

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2022 13:07

For the kids Playmobil. DS got all the emergency vehicles last year and the huge pirate ship this year for his birthday. They are such lovely quality with an amazing amount of detail. He plays with them for hours.

EsmeSusanOgg · 24/12/2022 13:52

Lurpak

TheRedLip · 24/12/2022 14:21

An ethically sourced pure goosedown duvet.
Private GP - can always get an appointment within 24 hours and it's a 20 minute long appointment.
A cleaner who also does a bit of house keeping too, like doing laundry and changing the beds. I love her more than some family members!

AnnieSnap · 24/12/2022 17:53

@TheRedLip Is there such a thing as ethically sourced feathers from geese? The companies don’t wait for birds to die to take their feathers and their annual moulting is relatively little, so just taking those wouldn’t be cost effective!

It depends what you're prepared to charge. If you charge £1000+ for a goosedown duvet then it's pretty cost effective.

OneTC · 24/12/2022 20:49

Marchesi pannetone 🤤

Can I ask where you get them from?

SapphireSeptember · 24/12/2022 22:09

Orly nail polish. The bottles are big (18ml Vs the usual 10ml) and they're really good quality. I've known about them for years but haven't bought any, until this year, and then I've bought every seasonal collection they've released in 2022! (So 36 bottles. 😳) Worth it though!

SheenaShoemaker · 24/12/2022 22:40

Might need to post a separate thread but I'm considering a woolroom duvet cover off the back of this thread. Could anyone let me know why it's so great?

@Emotionalsupportviper our vets written prescription charge is quite low and the meds are 60% cheaper online, it's a long-term condition so we also get a few months supply at a time.

Oh - thanks!

Our vet would only give a month's at a time - or would give 3 months' but charge for three prescriptions. It's been a while (15years or so) since we lost that particular dog, but each prescription was about 16 quid, then the meds on top - wasn't worth it, unfortunately.

He was an excellent vet in other ways, and his general charges were lower than others in the area, but he wasn't very helpful regard to this.

Now, I don’t like tattoos. But if you’re gonna get it done, and have it on your body forever: it is absolutely worth the money getting a great artist

Agree. I hate tattoos, but DD has a couple (one of them her entire back!). She paid an effing fortune for them - could probably have bought a car!, but they are superb!

Don't hate me:
a labiaplasty for just a bit less than £2k.
It was mainly for aesthetics but it was also because it used to pinch a lot when I tried to wear skinny jeans or in my knickers.... I've just remembered how they wouldn't fit properly. I take it for granted now.
The recovery period was good and they cut enough off.
I did get funding from the NHS but they lost the notes.

The taxpayer paid for your labiaplasty because you didn't like the way your labia looked and it pinched in skinny jeans? Sweet Jesus.

HoboSexualOnslow · 27/12/2022 21:47

Therapy
Nuface microcurrent machine
Monthly sports massages

thepatronsaintofbubblewrap · 27/12/2022 22:43

@pocketvenussI did get funding initially, but they lost the notes and I couldn't get funding again, so I paid myself.
My labia never sit properly in my skinny jeans and knickers (I've always sought a wide gusset even now).
Because of my upbringing, I've always minimised problems, so this was probably more of a problem than I made out and remember.
But it was mainly for aesthetics and I ended up paying it for myself.
NB. I also got teased at uni by one guy because of my 'theatre curtains' 😖

CrisPbacon · 28/12/2022 00:01

A bespoke beretta (for clay shooting)
Sealskinz ( really warm but thin gloves so I can do stuff without removing gloves)
Knit pro zing knitting needles
An oodie
Chanel no 5
Decent walking boots
Lined craghopper trousers
Clinique mascara
M&S lasagne and focaccia
An electric blanket
A dunlopillow pillow

timeonmyside · 30/12/2022 17:44

First class flights on long haul. Not showing off, we are retired and its the only thing we spend any real money on now as have everything we want or need.

DeepDown12 · 30/12/2022 18:43

Cashmere sweaters and gloves
Ninja Foodie
Peloton treadmill - it actually got me off my backside and into exercising, lost a stone and to me it made it worth every penny and more just for that.

@CrisPbacon is it the standard lasagne or the ultimate one?

CrisPbacon · 30/12/2022 23:26

Standard though if I can get the posh one yellow stickered I'm even happier

That's appalling what that guy said. I'd have kicked him in the balls.

Also, @pocketvenuss , having a large labia that rubs can be a real problem. I've not had a labiaplasty, but do get rubbing which sometimes develops in to boils which is extremely painful.
