I bought a JOIE 360° car seat which at the time seemed extortionate but when I look at how much ease it has given me over the years I think it was worth every penny.
Ditto expensive Dr Marten boots.

AIBU to ask what you've considered expensive when you bought it but in hindsight realised was worth it?

Yes @WendyWagon it’s the coffee I love. Espresso lover here!

Pandoralovegood · 22/12/2022 19:51

@Emotionalsupportviper our vets written prescription charge is quite low and the meds are 60% cheaper online, it's a long-term condition so we also get a few months supply at a time.

Would love to know your online vet recommendations. I've just paid nearly £100 for 100ml of Thyronorm from our (high street) vet Sad
Online would be much cheaper, even taking into account the £23 prescription fee robbing bastards.

We use Pet drugs online. Very good service, save loads for same products. I ordered the wrong thing last time not what was on the prescription and they sorted it out for me no issues www.petdrugsonline.co.uk

My new 800 thread count fitted sheet from Dusk (in the sale) arrived today so I just put it on the bed. Along with my existing Dusk 600 thread bedding, silk pillowcases, and goose down filled duvet & pillows. My Kindle is fully charged, I have a new Roberts internet radio and a Roberts pillow speaker.....it all goes with the antique Chinese elm bed (shipped back from Hong Kong where I used to live). Altogether it wasn't cheap but my goodness I can't wait to go to bed tonight!!! 😂 Worth every single penny. Getting out of bed is going to be hard tomorrow morning....

God yes, don’t cheap out on something that’s going to be on you for presumably the rest of your life.

Now, I don’t like tattoos. But if you’re gonna get it done, and have it on your body forever: it is absolutely worth the money getting a great artist

I use Animed Direct. There are several good online animal pharmacies though.

Miele electrical goods. I had an oven from my friend, it was 15yrs old when I had it off her for £40, lasted another 5yrs. My dad has a miele vacuum, best vac he's ever had and he's had that nearly 10yrs.

Nuxe Huile de Prodigieuse Riche oil. I use it on body, face and hair. Smells gorgeous, works a treat on my lizard body/face and it just makes me feel really good.

They don't make sheets like they used to.you could get duvet cover(non luxury expense) nd they'd be really soft.
There seems a hardness that runs through most now.

Ginmonkeyagain · 23/12/2022 07:06

Ikea 100% cotton duvet covers get very very soft with age and repeated washing. Sadly they also tend to start falling apart at the point of maximum softness.

KangarooKenny · 23/12/2022 08:30

I’m thinking of getting some Egyptian cotton sheets in the sale. How high would you go thread count wise, and are they ok in the tumbler ?

Itstoocoldoutthere · 23/12/2022 08:33

Linen bed sheets - I used to have high thread count cotton, but moved to linen and it has been life changing. The menopausal night sweats have stopped and I am sure it is due to the change in bedding as if I stay elsewhere, they come back.

Hated my Miele hoover.

It was far too heavy (and I'm not weak)

DillDanding · 23/12/2022 10:26

I agree re Miele. We have a Miele vacuum and it’s excellent.

woodhill · 23/12/2022 11:13

I always like the Laura Ashley cotton bedding which has been really good

Mine too. Unfortunately Miele are built to last so it will keep going for some time.

High thread count cotton is less breathable due to the weave being thicker and tighter.

I don’t use more than 200 tc.

When you get round to changing, I'd recommend a Sebo Felix. I've had mine for 12 years and it's as good as new. It feels reassuringly sturdy but is very light to move around. I'd never heard of Sebo but came across the brand in John Lewis. Then Google made me realise what I'd been missing. They're under the radar but top quality.

Longchamp le pliage bags in terms of not being fully leather. Absolutely worth it for me.
