To think this is (yet another) bad day for women?

On the same day that the male perpetrator is jailed for life for the particularly brutal murder of Megan Newborough, the victims of yet another murder in Kettering are named - a nurse and her two young children. A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

AIBU to be saddened, sickened and angered by this? Will it ever end, this catalogue of male violence against women and children?

Why would it surprise you? A fair few studies have found that non reciprocal DV is more commonly perpetrated by women - 70% in two studies I've read.

I want to say I find it shocking that you’d come on to a thread, highlighting YET ANOTHER murder at the hands of a man, and find a way to twist it back round to show where women are at fault.

But, having read your posts, I don’t find it surprising at all.

As you’re so steadfast in your assumptions, why don’t you start a new thread regarding the problem you see - or do you not have the gumption to do so? Am guessing you’d rather just plop yourself down on threads like this.

There are loads of violent women out there. Certainly more than there are male murderers.

Now you really are just trolling. Keep going, always handy to keep shite like your posts available for all to see.

BlueBellsArePretty · 19/12/2022 01:04

@TruckerBarbie you really are contributing nothing of value to this thread so piss off.

If you don't think that more than two women a week commit a violent crime then you're either deluded or being disingenuous. We can't say that male murderers are an epidemic but violent women vanishingly rare.

I'm not the sexist one here. I'll happily admit men commit the majority of violent crime. To say we have an epidemic of male murderers but pretend women are completely non violent is fantasy. Outside of actual homicides I've seen more studies showing women to commit as much DV as men then I have the opposite. There were loads in that one article alone I published above.

Ooh @TruckerBarbie do share these peer reviewed studies with us.

So then how come women aren’t murdering at the same rate?

Charley50 · 19/12/2022 06:23

@TruckerBarbie - why don't you start your own thread about female violence, or male suicide?

You must think we are born yesterday. With every new crime, e.g. using technology to stalk and harass, sharing nude pictures without consent, deepfake nudes, upskirting, under-curtaining, filming devices in bathroom and changing rooms, the common denominator is they are almost exclusively male crimes. Start your own thread about female crime and male victims.

I've posted a fair few in this thread.

Is this a serious question?

I can deadlift 140kg which is a lot for a woman. Yet there's no chance I could kill my partner with my bare hands, no matter how angry I got. He could kill me within 30 seconds if he really wanted to.

I do think men are inherently more violent, partly down to hormonal reasons and likely just due to millennia of being the sex that has fought our wars, done the 'necessary' violence. You can't undo thousands of years of evolution in a couple hundred years.

TruckerBarbie · 19/12/2022 07:54

The thing is, if you put forwards a balanced view on here it ends up looking like you're 'rooting for men' because people are so defensive.

I don't in any way favour men over women. I just don't see the epidemic of male violence some posters on here describe, even if men clearly commit the majority of violent crimes, and I'm not going to lie to, placate strangers. If you said India has a rape culture then I'd agree, or that Brazil was extremely dangerous for women. But the UK in 2022? I think it's pretty safe tbh.

But you could use a weapon or poison. So why don’t women do that?

I agree.
There's more good blokes than bad, but women here like to demonise blokes.
While er, having relationships and kids with blokes!

Charley50 · 19/12/2022 09:53

Why aren't there mass shootings committed by females in the US? Many women own guns.

AdamRyan · 19/12/2022 10:13

TruckerBarbie · 19/12/2022 00:33

There are loads of violent women out there. Certainly more than there are male murderers.

This is a false equivalence.
You need to compare numbers of violent men with violent women. Or male murderers with female murderers.

In the UK in 2022 548,000 males were arrested for violent crimes vs 96,000 women

www.statista.com/statistics/377412/arrests-england-and-wales-time-series-by-gender/

In DV cases women perpetrators are more likely to be arrested than men skewing the numbers

Research by Marianne Hester (2009), found that women were arrested to a disproportionate degree given the fewer incidents where they were perpetrators. During a six year study period men were arrested one in every ten incidents, women were arrested one in every three incidents.

kareningalasmith.com/2013/04/29/this-thing-about-male-victims/

The problem with using MRA sources for research is it all sounds plausible on the surface but dig a little deeper and their stats are built on false equivalence, correlation not causation and straw men.

Men are more violent than women. Men cause more deaths, murders and wars of human beings than women. If we want to become a more peaceful, less violent society we need to deal with male violence. Its a shame we can't even name it at this point.

I wholeheartedly agree with the link charley posted. It feels intentional that we can't name it, even on a chat forum.

TruckerBarbie · 19/12/2022 11:25

MRA sources? Those are mainly government and research org studies. This is the thing. So many on here see it as some kind of war of the sexes. Menz, MRAs, etc. You can tell by all the catchphrases.

Aren’t you the one claiming women are more violent?

Why don’t they use weapons to kill then?

TruckerBarbie · 17/12/2022 09:29

Crime is not committed by over 90% of black people. 90% of women don’t ‘live off men’.

And crime isn't committed by over 90% of men. If you think it is you need to do some research.

97% of killers are men, according to the ONS.

What are you doing on a predominantly women’s site? Is it your allotted task from
your Incel site to infiltrate a woman’s site?

I’ve noticed all your racist posts about Ngozi Fulani too.

And of course your anti-Muslim shoe horning upthread.

You are such a cliché of butt hurt masculinity.

GrutenFlea · 19/12/2022 16:11

YABU for taking an incident with an individual woman and extrapolate it to be a about 'women'.

GrutenFlea · 19/12/2022 16:14

@AdamRyan

I've got no problem with it being named. I just fail to see what it is you expect to do about it. Violence is neither legally nor socially acceptable, but human nature is what it is.
